Chapter 144: Go! Bite It!

Meng Yingxing shook his head, momentarily putting aside the strange emotions in his heart.

They had now arrived at Hai Xuan Pavilion, one of the four great restaurants in the city.

However, the current Hai Xuan Pavilion had none of its past splendor; amidst the demonic fire, it looked like a crumbling palace.

But as a temporary shelter designated by the Tianfeng Sect, the number of demonic beasts around Hai Xuan Pavilion was indeed significantly fewer.

Looking at the several Tianfeng Sect disciples standing guard at the entrance in full battle array, Meng Yingxing could tell that the Tianfeng Sect had expended great effort to “sweep” out this place for sheltering commoners.

Xiu Qingcheng also took an extra look at Hai Xuan Pavilion, sighing with some regret in her heart.

Having stayed with her disciple in the Tianfeng Sect for quite some time, she had long heard of the fame of the four great restaurants of Yongning City and had originally thought about coming to taste their food properly someday.

Now she was here, but what she saw first was such a dilapidated scene.

For a moment, Xiu Qingcheng was filled with righteous indignation, wishing she could catch all the demonic beasts responsible for this and eat them raw as appetizers!

The disciples guarding the entrance saw Meng Yingxing bringing civilians over, nodded to him, and let them in.

There were many commoners in the restaurant, and even some other spiritual cultivators injured in battle. The crowd surging inside made the huge four-story restaurant appear incredibly crowded.

“Everyone, please take refuge inside. Before all the demonic beasts are exterminated, the Tianfeng Sect will do its utmost to protect your safety!”

Meng Yingxing brought the rescued family into the restaurant and settled them down.

Looking at the dedicated young man, the family’s eyes were filled with unstoppable gratitude, thanking him repeatedly.

Meng Yingxing didn’t stay long. After a quick conversation with the disciples on guard, he gained a temporary understanding of the current battle situation in Yongning City.

Although the Demon Clan’s offensive was fierce, the main force was concentrated on the Tianfeng Sect. Most of the ones wreaking havoc in Yongning City were low-level demonic beasts and minor demons, but the trouble was their sheer numbers, which seemed endless.

Hearing that the three major Demon King clans were all causing destruction at the Tianfeng Sect, Xiu Qingcheng couldn’t help but gloat again.

“It seems the Tianfeng Sect is really going to flow with rivers of blood this time?”

She was a person who held grudges; every slight against her disciple, she remembered clearly, stroke by stroke.

She was happy to see the Tianfeng Sect suffer.

Meng Yingxing couldn’t do anything about the situation at the Tianfeng Sect anyway; after all, experts were as common as clouds there, so it wasn’t his place to interfere.

That said, there were many innocent people in Yongning City who needed the aid of spiritual cultivators like them.

As the saying goes, exterminating demons and defending the Dao should be the primary duty of a spiritual cultivator.

The disciple on guard pointed out a general direction to Meng Yingxing, saying that the demonic beast invasion was most intense there, the battle line was stretched very long, and reinforcements were urgently needed.

Meng Yingxing immediately rushed in the direction indicated by the disciple.

On the way, the demonic beasts increased, creating an extremely perilous situation.

“Disciple, now is the perfect opportunity to test Miao Miao’s professional capabilities.”

Xiu Qingcheng nodded.

Meng Yingxing had indeed consumed some stamina.

According to Xiu Qingcheng’s line of thought, these small demons could be left entirely to the golden dog Miao Miao, whom she had just taken in, to handle.

Meng Yingxing’s steps paused, only then remembering that he had another combat force on his side.

He had almost forgotten.

Meng Yingxing immediately took out the spiritual talisman sealing Miao Miao. As the dog-shaped totem on the talisman in his hand changed from void to solid…

A massive golden dog stepped out from the void into reality and let out a howl.

“What’s wrong, friend, have we arrived?”

Miao Miao circled Meng Yingxing once, thinking that Meng Yingxing and Xiu Qingcheng had brought it to the ideal home they spoke of, its demonic eyes filled with unstoppable excitement.

“Delicious food!”

“Heavenly treasures?”

“Super luxurious big dog house…”

With every item of desire Miao Miao named while looking around, its voice, ears, and tail drooped a little more.

Until it clearly saw that the surroundings were broken streets filled with the stench of demons and burning with the fires of war, the whole dog just froze in place.

Meng Yingxing’s gaze shifted guiltily to the side.

The next second, Miao Miao exploded, its tail and ears standing upright again, glaring with widened demonic eyes as it fiercely questioned the human before it:

“Where are the things we agreed on! Why is there nothing!?”

Hearing this, Meng Yingxing heard Xiu Qingcheng speak disdainfully in his mind.

“Why is it that when others take in spiritual pets, they are dead set on following their masters and obey every word?”

“This dog starts demanding this and that right off the bat?”

“What a realistic dog!”

Meng Yingxing sweated, thinking to himself, ‘Isn’t this the pie in the sky you, my elder, painted for it…’

Xiu Qingcheng flew out from Meng Yingxing’s hand, transforming into human form amidst fragmented brilliance, and stroked Miao Miao’s dog head with her soft hand.

“Miao Miao, being a dog, you can’t be too realistic.”

“You have to put in effort for us so that we can provide the things you want.”

“Haven’t you heard the saying ‘those who are able should do more’?”

“You haven’t even put in any effort yet, so how do we know how capable you are? Whether you deserve those heavenly treasures and the luxurious big dog house?”

“As long as you put in enough effort, the heavenly treasures and the luxurious big dog house you want will be no problem!”

As Xiu Qingcheng stroked Miao Miao’s dog head, she spoke to it earnestly, leaving even Meng Yingxing on the side stunned.

‘Someone come, feed the two young masters some pie (empty promises)!’

Fortunately, Miao Miao’s IQ wasn’t exceptionally outstanding. After being swindled by Xiu Qingcheng, it immediately decided to put in the effort.

It completely forgot Xiu Qingcheng’s previous words: “Just come, and you’ll have it.”

Watching Miao Miao’s dog face turn loyal in an instant, Xiu Qingcheng was incredibly satisfied.

“Yes, yes, yes, good doggy. Right now, there’s a perfect opportunity for you to show your skills.”

As Xiu Qingcheng’s voice fell, several demonic beasts dropped down from the eaves of the buildings on the street.

“Go! Bite it!”

Xiu Qingcheng stroked the shiny fur on Miao Miao’s head and waved her slender jade finger, signaling Miao Miao to attack the falling demonic beasts.

Miao Miao did not disappoint Xiu Qingcheng. As soon as her instruction was finished, it instantly entered combat mode and pounced on the few demonic beasts.

Its sharp fangs were exposed to the air, like fine daggers, sinking without obstruction into the demonic beasts’ bodies, which were as fragile as paper.

“Hiss—so ruthless.”

Seeing Miao Miao attack its own kind without mercy, Xiu Qingcheng narrowed her eyes slightly.

Meng Yingxing just stared at Xiu Qingcheng from the side, his face helpless.

With Miao Miao’s assistance, Meng Yingxing was like a tiger with added wings, driving straight to the battle line indicated by the guarding disciple.

On the battle line, several Tianfeng Sect disciples were fiercely fighting an exaggerated number of demonic beasts. There were even a few Feather Demon Clansmen at the Tiny Star Realm, raising the danger level of this battle by several notches.

However, the five Tianfeng Sect disciples were coordinated, forming the Falling Peak Sword Formation from the Tianfeng Sword Art they had learned.

Among these disciples was an intermediate disciple who acted as the head of this Falling Peak Sword Formation, forcing the demonic beasts and the three Feather Demon Clansmen back step by step.

Sword shadows trembled, and weak demonic beasts turned into blood ash and scattered in an instant. The three remaining Feather Demon warriors used their steel-like sharp claws to find an opportunity to break the Falling Peak Sword Formation formed by the Tianfeng Sect disciples before them.

Perhaps his ample strength gave the intermediate disciple confidence. After engaging the Feather Demon warriors for a few moves with the sword formation, he actively disbanded the formation formed by the group.

“Senior Brother Luo Yun! What are you doing!?”

Panic appeared on the faces of the other low-level disciples, and they quickly looked at the leading intermediate disciple, Luo Yun.

Luo Yun pointed his sword diagonally at the ground, his face full of disdain.

“These few Feather Demon Clansmen are no match for me. You guys go help on the other side; I can handle this alone! You’ll only drag me down here!”

The low-level disciples looked at each other, seeming unwilling.

But in the end, they lowered their heads and turned to other battle lines.

Seeing them leave, Luo Yun swung his sword toward the few Feather Demon Clansmen flying in mid-air before him.

“Demon Clan… mere Demon Clan, nothing to fear at all.”

“Today I will kill this group of demons and turn them into stepping stones for my rise to become a high-level disciple!”

Looking at the Feather Demon Clansmen before him, Luo Yun didn’t treat them as enemies at all, but as easily obtainable objects of merit.

In his view, on this battlefield of humans and demons in Yongning City, not a single demon could defeat him.

After Meng Yingxing arrived at the battle line indicated by the guarding disciple, the first thing he saw was a Tianfeng Sect disciple pinned to the ground by three Feather Demon warriors with tattered wings, trapped in a desperate situation.

“Three Tiny Star Realm Feather Demon Clansmen, but they look like they are on the verge of their limits. Quick, go steal the kills!”

Meng Yingxing’s gaze darkened, and he immediately drew his sword and charged.

“Miao Miao, let’s go!”

Luo Yun’s face was covered in blood and grime as he struggled to withstand the attacks of the three Feather Demon Clansmen before him.

He had just been slightly careless in the battle earlier; otherwise, how could these few demon people have knocked him to the ground!?

In the next instant, a flash of sword light and sharp teeth flew past. The three Feather Demon Clansmen besieging Luo Yun immediately turned into blood-spewing corpses and fell to the ground.

Luo Yun, still confused about the situation, froze for a moment. Then he saw a young man holding a cobalt-blue ancient sword and a golden demon dog beside him appear before his eyes after the corpses of the Feather Demon Clansmen fell.

One person, one sword, one dog, surrounded by a solemn aura of killing.
