Chapter 4: The Price of Vengeance and a New Beginning

“Yes, Senior Brother.” Zhang Jiu was overjoyed upon hearing this. He then arrogantly addressed Yue Feng.

“Young Hero Yue, our Sect Master, Senior Brother, invites you to the main hall for a discussion. Of course, you don’t have to go, but your family’s secret manual might just turn to ash.”

Yue Feng’s expression darkened upon hearing this.

While he had already acquired cultivation methods far superior to his family’s legacy through his own fortuitous encounters, the significance of his family’s manual transcended its inherent value after his clan’s annihilation.

It represented his unwavering obsession and an unresolved knot in his heart.

His expression soon regained its usual composure. Turning to Elder Huang beside him, he said, “Elder Huang, I must trouble you to hold the line here for me, containing Zhang Jiu and his disciples. I shall return shortly.”

Elder Huang frowned deeply upon hearing this. He cautioned,

“You shouldn’t put yourself in such danger. Remember, even the most precious cultivation technique requires one to be alive to enjoy it. You’ve achieved so much at such a young age; your future is limitless. Don’t be impulsive.”

Yue Feng offered a faint smile. “Thank you for your concern, Elder Huang, but this technique holds immense importance to me. Moreover, I am fully confident I can retreat unscathed. Please, rest assured.”

Seeing his unwavering confidence, and recalling Yue Feng’s extraordinary capabilities, Elder Huang ceased his objections. He simply advised, “Then you must be extra careful.”

Yue Feng accepted Elder Huang’s well wishes. He strode purposefully towards the Cloudwind Sect’s main hall. Zhang Jiu and his disciples parted to create a path, their gazes fixed on Yue Feng like predatory tigers.

One disciple suggested to Zhang Jiu, “Sect Master Zhang, that boy is alone now. Why don’t we all attack him together, kill him, and crush his morale?”

“Silence!” Zhang Jiu glared at the disciple. ‘This Yue Feng and Senior Brother are both scourges, not a single good one among them. It would be best if they perished together,’ he thought, then cursed,

“How could I commit such a despicable act and tarnish the Sect Master’s reputation?”

The disciple stammered, then retreated sheepishly under Zhang Jiu’s furious gaze.

‘Exactly, why weren’t you this clever before?’ Zhang Jiu thought, annoyed, as he cast a glance at his disciples. He then watched Yue Feng depart with a malicious glint in his eyes, praying silently,

‘I hope Senior Brother keeps his promise and perishes with that brat. Otherwise, hehe, after dealing with these guys, I wouldn’t mind finishing him off myself.’

Yue Feng paid no heed to the farce, striding boldly and openly towards the main hall.

Of course, this was merely on the surface. Yue Feng had long since prepared defenses against Zhang Jiu and his group. Should they attempt a coordinated attack, he could retaliate instantly.

In truth, eliminating them with his hidden trump cards would not be difficult. However, firstly, he didn’t want to rely on that power.

Secondly, when the Cloudwind Sect annihilated his family, they fabricated numerous groundless charges, leaving his family’s reputation still tarnished to this day.

Yue Feng would never forget this humiliation. He had gathered so many sects, even persuading the imperial family, precisely to seize the moral high ground and make the Cloudwind Sect experience the taste of being slandered and denied.

As this thought crossed his mind, Yue Feng clenched his fists tightly, forcing himself to remain calm.

“Damn it, he actually dared to come!”

Our imposter Sect Master, Wang Yu, was dumbfounded. ‘Is this the aura of a protagonist? I can’t learn this, I can’t learn this.

Protagonists truly are fearless daredevils.’ Wang Yu had originally intended to step down if Yue Feng didn’t show up, but that would have made it difficult to avoid exposure.

Since Yue Feng was so cooperative, everything was much simpler. ‘Self-detonation, activate!’

Not long after, Yue Feng arrived before the main hall’s entrance. Our imposter Sect Master, Wang Yu, clad in a black robe, sat in the Sect Master’s seat and spoke with an air of supreme arrogance.

Wang Yu felt as if he were possessed by an acting emperor at that moment. ‘Please call me an international superstar.’

Yue Feng entered without the slightest hesitation after hearing him. He stated,

“Yes, I have come. Ever since you destroyed my Yue family three years ago, I have been waiting for this moment. Now, it is time for you to pay for the hundreds of lives of my Yue family.

But along the way, I expected you to pull some tricks. Why are you so honest in facing your death today?”

“The victor is king, the loser is bandit. Had I known this day would come, I would have dug three feet deep to kill you back then,” Wang Yu said with a gloomy tone, his expression hidden by the black robe, preventing Yue Feng from seeing it.

‘No choice ┐(─__─)┌ Even if I have the talent of an Oscar-winning actor, I’m still a newbie who hasn’t stepped into society. I can’t withstand the probing of these old foxes who have been rolling in the martial world.’

“Furthermore, there’s no need for petty tricks, because the moment you stepped into this grand hall, your death sentence was pronounced.”

“Heh heh, confident, aren’t you? If that’s the case, then let’s stop wasting words. Let our strength speak for itself. I hope you’ve made some progress since before.” Yue Feng’s expression was cold, and golden essence energy swirled around him, taking the form of flames.

Wang Yu twitched his lips.

From the memories of this unlucky Sect Master, Wang Yu understood that the Sect Master hadn’t been foolish enough to wait for Yue Feng to come knocking; he had already discovered Yue Feng’s potential and personally made a move.

But, as expected, Yue Feng, with his protagonist’s halo, not only successfully counter-attacked but also significantly increased his strength.

Thinking of this, Wang Yu secretly rejoiced. ‘Good, good, I’m not that unlucky guy. I don’t have to clash head-on with the protagonist. I can just die quickly and get away, how wonderful.’

Moreover, since Yue Feng requested speed, it truly suited Wang Yu’s intentions. ‘If I speak a few more words with you, I’ll probably expose myself.’

“Hmph, Yue Feng, I know you are formidable, so this Venerable One never intended to walk out of here alive. But don’t think you’ll have it easy; come die with this Venerable One!” Wang Yu stood up, channeling the Yin-Yang Great Reversal technique.

A tyrannical red essence energy condensed around him, and Wang Yu felt the Yang energy within his body surge relentlessly.

‘Heh heh, although I’ve decided to commit suicide, you might as well experience the pain of it with me,’ Wang Yu thought, and then charged directly towards Yue Feng.

“Self-detonation!!!!” Yue Feng never imagined the Sect Master would be so… shameless. According to typical tropes, shouldn’t both sides first fight for a while, and only when one is pushed to the brink would they resort to self-detonation?

Where was the trust between people? Yue Feng tried to dodge, but failed. Wang Yu’s move was too unexpected; the fireball that Wang Yu had become collided directly with Yue Feng.

“Bang!”

“Bang!” Zhang Jiu and the other sects were in a standoff when a massive explosion ripped through the air. They watched as the Cloudwind Sect’s main hall disintegrated into ruins amidst a violent blast.

Zhang Jiu was overjoyed at the sight. He loudly proclaimed, “Disciples and Elders, heed my command! The Sect Master, for the sake of justice, has perished together with that villainous thief Yue Feng! Let us avenge our Sect Master, kill!”

With that, he charged towards Elder Huang. As long as he defeated Elder Huang, who was also in the Transcendent Realm, the overall situation would be settled.

Elder Huang also witnessed the scene on the mountain, his heart sinking. Seeing Zhang Jiu leading his disciples charging up, he could only order the other sects to engage in battle.

“Hahaha, you姓Huang, this day next year will be your death anniversary!”

Zhang Jiu channeled his wind essence energy and attacked Elder Huang. The first generation Sect Master of Cloudwind Sect was also extraordinarily talented; by comprehending the flow of wind, he had grasped the sect’s guardian secret manual, the ‘Wind Control Art’.

Activating this art allowed one to transform essence energy into a powerful wind, sweeping away everything in its path. Zhang Jiu brought his hands together before his chest, and countless azure essence energies surged madly into his palms, which he then forcefully unleashed towards Elder Huang.

A cyan hurricane tore through the air. Any sect disciples who came near this hurricane were involuntarily drawn towards its center, only to be torn to shreds.

Elder Huang took a large step forward, channeling his yellow essence energy to form a brass wall, blocking the attack. However, he frowned deeply. He could feel that while he seemed evenly matched with Zhang Jiu, his own consumption was far greater.

If this continued, he would surely lose. Zhang Jiu naturally noticed this, and a surge of joy filled his heart. Both the annoying Senior Brother and that boy were dead.

If he could now lead the sect to victory in this battle, no one would dare question his position as Sect Master. Just as Zhang Jiu believed the situation was decided, a voice in his ear plunged him into hell.

“Zhang Jiu, you celebrate too early!” A longsword pierced through his chest from behind. It was Yue Feng, whom Zhang Jiu had believed to be dead. Yue Feng had blood at the corner of his mouth, his white robes disheveled, one hand gripping the treasured sword that had impaled him.

Zhang Jiu looked down at the sword, then let out a heaven-shaking roar, “Senior Brother, you misled me!” With that, he lost all signs of life.

“Achoo! Who’s calling me?” This was Wang Yu, who was determined to be a slacker in this book. After using the Yin-Yang Great Reversal, Wang Yu automatically waited at his set resurrection point for the resurrection bar to load.

“Hahaha, life is like a play, all about the acting! I, Wang Yu, have finally become an acting emperor, toying with protagonists and extras at my fingertips.” Just as Wang Yu was gloating, the resurrection bar finished loading.

“Looks like I’ve successfully revived.” Wang Yu began to feel his new body. “It feels pretty good. Strange 😳, something seems off. Why are my arms and legs so slender? That doesn’t make sense. Even if I’m usually 120 pounds, this is too thin.”

Wang Yu pulled out a mirror from the treasure vault, his eyes widening. “Eh eh eh eh.”

‘Why have I turned into a loli?! This isn’t scientific! Though, transmigration itself isn’t scientific, is it?’
