Join the ServerHe Ting bent over in the supermarket, selecting dried sweet potatoes.
This world had a brand called “Shanquan” dried sweet potatoes, soft, slightly sweet, with just the right chewiness.
He picked several bags, hugging them to his chest while walking with his head down, when suddenly he noticed a pair of sneakers stopping right in front of him.
Thinking he was blocking the way, He Ting quickly shifted aside.
But the pair of feet moved with him, following him step for step.
He Ting looked up, only to see Su Bei smiling brightly at him.
“Junior? What a coincidence?” He Ting stared in surprise.
“Mm,” Su Bei bent down to look at the large pile of dried sweet potatoes in his arms.
“You bought so many?”
“They’re tasty,” He Ting replied.
“Tch, only little kids like this stuff,” Su Bei teased with a grin.
He Ting glanced at the beef jerky in Su Bei’s hands and argued back:
“N-no, dried sweet potatoes are for kids, but beef jerky is for adults. Right or not?”
Su Bei smiled in satisfaction and rubbed his head.
“Remember to watch the game tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” He Ting tried to recall the date.
“You won’t forget, will you?” Su Bei glanced at him.
He Ting stuck out his tongue, he really had forgotten.
Even after getting off at the Gu residence, Su Bei still leaned out of the car window and shouted:
“Don’t forget!”
He Ting waved his hand in response.
“Got it!”

Gu Qiuhang and Gu Donghang were sitting in the dining room, and for once, Tong Yuemei was also present.
The atmosphere felt heavy, like something stretched to its limit, ready to explode at the slightest touch.
He Ting took a glance and called out:
“I’m back.”
Gu Donghang sneered.
“Heh…”
Tong Yuemei glanced at him and said to Gu Qiuhang:
“So this was all for him?”
Her tone carried anger she could barely suppress.
He Ting stopped in confusion and looked at them.
He didn’t quite understand what was happening, but it was clearly related to him.
Gu Qiuhang replied calmly:
“It’s all for the company’s development. You’re overthinking, Aunt Tong.”
“Phantom Blue” stocks had been maliciously driven down. The Gu family seized the opportunity to buy large amounts and force entry into the board.
Could it really not be connected to Zhou Zhaoqi? Just because he beat up Tang Xi?
Tong Yuemei pointed at He Ting, her fingers trembling slightly, her voice quivering with anger.
He Ting narrowed his eyes.
It wasn’t a compliment, he could tell.
“So what? I create profit for the company, and Aunt Tong isn’t satisfied? Is this my personal decision, or yours?”
Gu Qiuhang lazily swirled the water in his glass, smiling faintly, creating a sharp contrast with Tong Yuemei’s agitation.
Gu Donghang’s face flushed red as he tried to suppress his emotions:
“Brother, out of all the game companies, you chose Zhou’s? Isn’t it because Zhou Zhaoqi hit Tang Xi? If you do this, how am I supposed to face Zhou Zhaoqi in the future? And Phantom Blue, my mom has investments there too. Isn’t this harming others for your own benefit?”
Gu Qiuhang raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? Aunt Tong invested in Phantom Blue? No one told me that.”
He lowered his head, pretending to think, then suddenly smiled.
“In that case, next time Aunt Tong invests externally, perhaps it should be filed through Gu Group first. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee something like this won’t happen again.”
Tong Yuemei’s face turned pale with anger.
“Qiuhang, you’re going too far!”
Gu Qiuhang looked at her coldly, loosening his tie.
“What? I’m seeking profit for the company, is that wrong? Aunt Tong invests outside without consulting the family, and that’s fine? I know I’m young and not convincing enough. If that’s the case, we’ll wait until Father returns and let him decide.”
With a loud crash, Tong Yuemei flipped the chair over and stormed out without a word.
Her high heels struck the floor sharply, each step like a hammer pounding into one’s heart.
Her eyes burned with anger, but she had no outlet for it.
He Ting lowered his gaze, avoiding her piercing glare until the sound of her heels faded away.
Gu Donghang also stood up to leave.
Gu Qiuhang called out to him:
“Donghang, public matters and personal matters should be separated. If Zhou Zhaoqi can’t even understand that, then he’s not worth associating with.”
Gu Donghang didn’t turn around.
His face darkened further as if struck by those words.
His eyes coldly swept over He Ting standing at the stairs.
“Understood, brother,” he replied calmly.
After Tong Yuemei and Gu Donghang left, He Ting picked up his shopping bags and prepared to go upstairs.
He didn’t want to get involved in any of this.
Gu Qiuhang looked at him.
“Come here.”
He Ting pressed his lips together and walked over obediently.
“Yes, young master.”
“Have you eaten?”
Gu Qiuhang’s expression was as calm as usual.
“If not, let Zhou Ma prepare something.”
“I have eaten,” He Ting answered, though hesitating before asking:
“Zhou Zhaoqi… were you doing this on purpose?”
Gu Qiuhang smiled faintly.
“Of course not.”
He Ting bit his lip.
He and Tong Yuemei shared the same doubt.
“Then… why their company?”
Gu Qiuhang explained patiently:
“Phantom Blue recently released a game internally. It’s quite interesting. The company had already planned to acquire them, it’s just a coincidence.”
He Ting nodded.
“I understand. Then I’ll go up first.”
Gu Qiuhang stood up and glanced at the shopping bags in his hand.
“What did you buy?”
Warm breath brushed past his ear again, soft and slightly intoxicating.
He Ting instinctively stepped back to create distance.
“Dried sweet potatoes.”
Gu Qiuhang reached in and pulled out a bag.
“You bought so many. They must be good. Leave me one.”
Gu Qiuhang rarely ate snacks, which surprised He Ting.
He lowered his head and handed over a bag.
“That’s fine. You can try it.”
“Alright,” Gu Qiuhang smiled.
“Tang Xi, you went out with Su Bei again?”
“Huh?”
Caught off guard by the sudden change in topic, He Ting quickly replied:
“We just happened to run into each other. I bought dried sweet potatoes, and he bought beef jerky.”
The more he spoke, the more awkward it sounded.
He stopped talking and headed upstairs.
But the gaze behind him felt almost tangible, pressing down on his back and making his muscles tense.
He wanted to turn around and look, but forced himself not to.
Back in his room, after closing the door, he suddenly realized his back was covered in a thin layer of sweat, as if he had just gone through an intense physical battle.
