Chapter 12: Control, Chaos, and the Edge of Possession

On stage, the female dancer wore almost nothing. Her body was sinuous and supple like a snake, her waist and hips swaying lightly as her eyes flowed with allure, captivating and soul-stirring.

It drew countless greedy, eager hands from the audience below, all reaching out to touch, yet always just falling short.

The music thundered through the space, deafening.

Men and women writhed wildly in the dance floor, releasing their pent-up energy.

He Ting was quickly swept up in the heat of it all, moving along with the rhythm.

Su Bei stood in front of him. The two of them danced against each other, laughing as they moved.

In that moment, He Ting thought of nothing, he simply let himself go completely, and it felt incredibly liberating.

His legs were long and slender, his waist slim and defined, making his movements especially graceful.

With his fair, delicate looks, he quickly drew attention.

Soon, a few people gathered around him, and one boy even tentatively pulled him into an embrace.

In that feverish atmosphere, bodies pressed together, brushing and grinding against one another.

That kind of closeness didn’t feel inappropriate to him at all.

But Su Bei reached out and pulled him away, gesturing that he was already “taken.”

Only then did the other person reluctantly leave.

At one point, a girl leaned in, leaving lipstick marks on his cheek and chest.

When she tried to kiss his lips, He Ting laughed and dodged away.

By the time he squeezed out of the dance floor, his clothes were soaked with sweat, even his hair was damp.

He ordered a fruity cocktail and sipped it slowly.

After an entire night like this, he felt much lighter, almost floating.

There were several missed calls on his phone, all from Gu Qiuhang.

He checked the time. It was already very late, Gu Qiuhang was probably asleep, so he didn’t call back.

He had to go home.

Su Bei insisted on sending him.

The others were still partying, so Su Bei said a quick goodbye and left with him.

Along the way, Su Bei seemed like he wanted to say something but hesitated.

He Ting noticed but simply smiled and said nothing.

Only when they got out of the car, just as He Ting was about to go inside, did Su Bei call out to him again.

Yet he still didn’t speak—just looked at him with a smile.

After a whole night of wild fun, He Ting now felt slightly tired under the faint buzz of alcohol.

He looked at him in confusion, puzzled by the smile.

Su Bei hooked a finger under his chin.

“Hey, do you know you’re actually quite… alluring?”

He Ting smiled.

“Really? Am I more alluring than you, senior?”

Su Bei answered shamelessly,

“Mm, just a little less than me.”

Then he added with a grin,

“But don’t go to places like that alone again. Otherwise you might get eaten up without even realizing it. Got it?”

The early summer breeze was cool against his skin.

Looking up, a few faint stars could be seen scattered across the deep night sky.

He had already stepped out of that chaotic atmosphere.

Now calm again, he realized he had let himself go too much.

So he nodded obediently, said goodbye to Su Bei, and went inside.

He quietly went upstairs and opened his door.

Just as he reached for the light switch, someone grabbed his hand tightly in the darkness.

He Ting didn’t struggle.

He recognized the familiar scent, it was Gu Qiuhang.

Gu Qiuhang held his wrist firmly, pinning him between himself and the doorframe.

In the darkness, only the sound of their breathing rose and fell.

He Ting relaxed slightly and asked softly,

“What are you doing?”

His voice carried a trace of drunken softness, gentle like water, flowing into the heart, sweet and lingering.

Gu Qiuhang felt his heart tremble, like a current passing through him.

But the moment didn’t last.

Because he caught the scent on He Ting, alcohol mixed with perfume, chaotic and overwhelming.

He restrained himself and asked,

“When did you start being this disobedient?”

He Ting replied softly,

“How am I disobedient?”

Gu Qiuhang leaned closer.

In the dim light of stars and moon, they could barely make out each other’s silhouettes.

He gripped He Ting’s thin chin and reminded him,

“Didn’t I tell you a few days ago not to come home this late? Didn’t I tell you to call if you’d be late so the driver could pick you up? Which part did you actually listen to?”

He Ting found it strange.

After spending the whole evening with Li Yue, how did Gu Qiuhang still have the energy to question him?

He pushed him away and turned on the light.

When the light came on, he instinctively closed his eyes.

When he opened them again, he saw Gu Qiuhang staring at his face, and then roughly rubbing at it with clear disgust.

‘It hurt.’

He turned his head to avoid it.

Gu Qiuhang’s voice was full of anger.

“What is all over you?”

Only then did He Ting take a proper look at himself.

There were bright red lipstick marks on his shirt, on the chest, collar, shoulders, even on the back of his hand.

Touching his sore cheek, he remembered there were probably marks there too.

He shrugged and smiled.

“Just went out to have some fun. It’s nothing.”

Gu Qiuhang looked at him, his gaze dark and unreadable.

“Fun?”

He let out a cold laugh.

His voice turned icy.

“You’re filthy. Go wash yourself clean. Then come out.”

He Ting frowned slightly at his words but didn’t argue.

He was tired.

So he simply lowered his head, took his pajamas, and went into the bathroom.

Hot water poured over him.

Steam filled the air, making it hard to breathe.

He sighed helplessly.

When he came out, Gu Qiuhang was sitting sideways on the small sofa, a book open on his lap.

He wasn’t reading, his gaze was distant.

He Ting’s face was flushed from the heat, soft pink against pale skin.

He lazily dried his hair with a towel.

Droplets kept slipping down from the ends.

Gu Qiuhang couldn’t stand his unhurried pace.

He stood up, took the towel, and briskly dried his hair.

Then he went into the bathroom, brought out a hairdryer, and pressed He Ting down into a chair at the desk.

He turned it on and began drying his hair.

Warm air blew over his scalp and neck.

Gu Qiuhang’s fingers moved gently through his hair.

It felt comfortable.

So comfortable that He Ting’s head began to nod… and he fell asleep just like that.

Standing behind him, Gu Qiuhang felt both annoyed and amused.

He turned off the dryer.

Then he did something even he himself found unbelievable, he poked He Ting hard on the back of the head with one finger.

As He Ting’s body tipped forward uncontrollably, Gu Qiuhang’s heart suddenly felt empty.

Instinctively, he reached out and pulled him into his arms.

A faint fragrance filled his senses.

The slender, soft body fit perfectly in his embrace, warm, with a slight elasticity.

Gu Qiuhang tightened his arms.

He wanted to pull him closer, to press him into himself, as if he wanted to crush him completely within his grasp.
