Join the ServerConsuming a star required a significant amount of time. The massive insect, having lived for eons, had long lost any real concept of time. However, the circumstances were different now; her children awaited her outside the star, and she had to accelerate.
With this thought, the massive insect abandoned her cautious approach to siphoning the star’s energy. Instead, she brazenly unfurled all her absorption organs, ravenously devouring the light and heat erupting from the celestial body.
Though these energies occasionally harmed some of her more delicate internal organs, she would simply use the very energy she absorbed to repair the damage, then continue her consumption. Through this relentless cycle, the massive insect gradually realized that the interiors of her absorption organs could now fully withstand the scorching temperatures. She grew even more unrestrained in her feast.
Outside the star, the Zerg initially clustered together, silently drifting around the celestial body in anticipation. Suddenly, they discovered that the side of their bodies facing the star had become incredibly resilient after being exposed to its radiation, and their strength had even subtly increased.
This instantly sparked envy among the other Zerg. They scrambled, rotating the sphere they formed, each taking turns to bask in this “solar bath.”
However, this arrangement was clearly unfair to the Zerg nestled in the very center. Following a discussion, the sphere they had formed dispersed, and they rearranged themselves into a ring around the already shrinking star.
This new formation ensured that every Zerg could now partake in the benefits offered by the stellar radiation.
Meanwhile, as the massive insect leisurely devoured the star, time had unknowingly slipped away. Within the Alliance, under Odinxis’s leadership, the ultimate weapon – once hidden away after the pirates’ gradual disappearance – was slowly being restored to its former glory.
“A perfectly stable structure! Energy suffers virtually no loss during operation! Its powerful focal point can flawlessly launch even a whole star, piercing through that damned creature! Brothers! This peerless weapon’s time to shine has come again!”
Silence filled the room. Every gaze was fixed with fervent anticipation on the magnificent super-cannon, now fully constructed in space, projected by the central display.
It was the superweapon that Odinxis and his delegation had recovered and restored, discovered as wreckage on a planet during their visit to another star system alliance.
Based on the information etched into the wreckage, everyone surmised that this was likely the main cannon of an Imperial warship. All were struck by awe and admiration for the sheer power of the cosmic empire.
Now, this formidable weapon had fallen into their hands, much like a scrawny man suddenly acquiring a powerful handgun.
The once-rampant cosmic pirates had been utterly decimated after facing warships equipped with this main cannon. They never recovered, gradually retreating from the Alliance’s cosmic territory.
Indeed, this weapon had achieved unparalleled feats in combating cosmic pirates. However, given its immense power, exorbitant attack consumption, and costly daily maintenance, all Alliance leaders decided to temporarily dismantle it back to its original state for safekeeping.
It would only be brought forth again when needed, pending a collective vote. That time was now.
Everyone watched the weapon’s projection with fervent eyes, observing as it was slowly mounted onto the battleship specifically designed for this main cannon, a vessel crafted with the Alliance’s every technological might.
With this main cannon, they had once dominated cosmic space. Any cosmic pirate foolish enough to attack was instantly annihilated by a single shot.
Each firing of the cannon created a breathtaking spectacle that ignited their very blood.
Yet, none had noticed that the Imperial script on the cannon’s body, recovered years ago, was severely worn, making it impossible to ascertain if it was truly the main cannon.
However, swayed by the sheer destructive display, everyone instinctively believed it to be the main cannon, the primary force of an Imperial warship. Now possessing this power, they felt entitled to launch an offensive against the Zerg, that ancient menace that had resurfaced after so long.
With the main cannon fully mounted, Odinxis waved his hand, immediately ordering everyone to mobilize all available scout ships, frigates, and the primary fleet. Centered around this colossal vessel, they were to conduct a full-nebula, three-dimensional search.
If that monster intended to continue developing, it would undoubtedly plunder more planets. Therefore, they had to locate it before it could launch its next assault!
However, after the entire Alliance had scoured that nebula, not a trace of the Zerg swarm was found. This left all search personnel and Odinxis utterly bewildered.
“This doesn’t make sense. Logically, shouldn’t this monster be plundering more to develop? Could the ancient records be inaccurate due to the passage of time?”
Odinxis simply could not fathom where the massive insect would have gone after consuming the first star system.
Meanwhile, across the cosmos, countless independent search teams tirelessly patrolled various Alliance planets. Nearly a month passed without any sign of the massive insect.
All the search team members, who had started out nervous, grew indifferent, and now were utterly impatient.
“Do you think we’ll really catch that guy flying this same route every day?”
“Catch? Running away if we see it is more likely. A monster of that caliber isn’t something our little junker can handle.”
“I’m just thinking, don’t take it seriously. Look, if we caught that mother organism, wouldn’t we get a massive reward?”
“Oh, please. According to intelligence, her maternal body alone is the size of an entire planet. With our dinky ship, she’d flick you away with her pinky.”
“You’re no fun if you put it that way. I’m just bored, chatting to find some amusement.”
“Ha, still dreaming, huh? Why don’t you just say that the massive insect is like those trashy fantasy novels you read, eh? That mother organism, with fair skin and beautiful looks, big breasts, big butt? Aren’t you ashamed? How old are you, still reading that stuff?”
“I’ll knock your teeth out! Do you really think you can tell me what to read? I’ll smash your head in! Besides, what’s wrong with fair skin and beautiful looks? If she really looked like that, I’d be happy for her to eat me!”
And so, the two men in the cockpit bickered aimlessly, completely oblivious that their quarrel had inadvertently veered their course. The autopilot was now steering them straight towards the destroyed star system.
