Chapter 55: Repentance Cliff and a Glimpse of Change

Wang Li was never one to expertly conceal his emotions. Thus, when Ye Cha observed the eager anticipation etched across his face, and then glanced at the precipitous cliffs looming before them, a clear conjecture immediately formed in his mind.

During their time in the outer sect, Wang Li had always trailed diligently behind Li Ge, acting as his loyal and competent subordinate.

Ye Cha had endured his fair share of bullying from this group in the past. However, to avoid unnecessary conflict, he had always chosen to ignore them, desiring only to quietly establish himself within the Lingtian Sect. His sole ambition for this life was to cultivate diligently and strive for a longer existence.

He harbored no lofty aspirations; his only wish was to simply survive.

Everything else was inconsequential.

Yet, this seemingly simple desire remained unattainable, forcing him to conquer numerous trials and tribulations merely to glimpse a sliver of hope.

Under these pressing circumstances, Ye Cha, who had initially intended to live a life free from worldly strife, underwent a rapid and profound transformation.

He was no longer the Ye Cha who could be easily bullied by Li Ge and his cronies. Instead, he had become a man willing to pay any price to achieve his objectives.

Earlier, in front of Shen Ruotong, Ye Cha had needed to maintain an image of benevolence. Therefore, upon hearing that Li Ge would be banished to Repentance Cliff for ten years, he had merely offered a faint smile, voicing no objections.

However, considering Li Ge’s malicious intentions towards him, those feelings would likely not dissipate so easily.

Furthermore, Wang Li, who had accompanied them out of the Lingtian Sect, also needed a stern lesson.

This was to prevent any further mishaps on their journey that might disrupt his carefully laid plans.

As these thoughts swirled in Ye Cha’s mind, his facial expression remained utterly unchanged. He continued to walk beside Ke Qian, swiftly approaching Repentance Cliff.

To facilitate their travel, Ke Qian directly summoned her purple flying sword. Reaching out, she took Ye Cha’s arm, pulling him onto the sword, and together they soared over the sheer cliffs.

They stood in close proximity, their breaths distinctly audible.

Ye Cha’s black hair, bound by a white jade hair crown, drifted backward with the wind, his delicate ends brushing against Ke Qian’s shoulder, sending a tremor through her heart.

Her gaze, as she turned her head to look at Ye Cha, brimmed with an affection so profound it threatened to overflow, utterly impossible to conceal.

Nor did she wish to conceal it.

Witnessing this, Wang Li, who was struggling to keep pace on his own flying sword behind them, felt an uncontrollable surge of bitterness. He clenched his fists, as if he had consumed an entire cartload of lemons, wishing he could stab Ye Cha, this conniving little wretch who seduced women, with a single strike of his sword.

However, the thought of Li Ge waiting at Repentance Cliff caused Wang Li’s tightly clenched hands to immediately relax.

Hmph.

Ye Cha shouldn’t celebrate too soon; Li Ge would certainly not let him off lightly.

Compared to Ye Cha’s petty tricks for charming women, Li Ge was a master of the art. Although Wang Li was extremely reluctant to yield Ke Qian to Li Ge, he found himself indifferent to the matter if it meant driving Ye Cha away from her.

Given his familiar relationship with Li Ge, the idea of them both serving Ke Qian did not evoke much resistance in Wang Li’s heart.

Even though Ye Cha’s appearance was outstanding, good looks couldn’t feed them. A man still had to prove himself through capability!

As long as a woman understood the fundamental differences between men, no matter how handsome Ye Cha might be, his ultimate fate would be to be casually discarded!

As Wang Li pondered these thoughts, he noticed the flying sword Ke Qian was piloting come to a halt. He immediately looked ahead, where three large characters—’Repentance Cliff’—were deeply carved into the mountain wall.

A dark, gaping maw marked the center of the cliff face.

“Ye Cha, to leave the Lingtian Sect, we must pass through Repentance Cliff. There are numerous restrictions within, so we will need to proceed on foot.”

Ke Qian then offered this explanation, apprising Ye Cha of their upcoming arrangements.

In response, Ye Cha nodded.

After dismounting from the flying sword, he did not immediately step into Repentance Cliff. Instead, he turned to face Ke Qian, who still stood on the sword, and, with a smile in his eyes, extended his hand to her.

Ke Qian paused, momentarily stunned, before finally reacting a few seconds later.

She cautiously reached out, gently placing her hand in Ye Cha’s palm, carefully controlling her strength. Even after her feet touched the ground, she still felt somewhat dazed.

Ke Qian had never encountered a man quite like Ye Cha.

His gentle nature, unwavering resolve, and unique approach to life set him apart from everyone else.

His empathetic demeanor was simply too captivating.

“Hmph, what a show-off.”

Wang Li, having also jumped down from his flying sword, observed the intense adoration in Ke Qian’s eyes for Ye Cha. His heart curdled with jealousy, yet there was nothing he could do at the moment but mutter softly to himself.

The more he witnessed Ye Cha’s hypocritical behavior, the more Wang Li yearned to see him abandoned.

When that happened, Ye Cha’s expression would surely be a sight to behold.

Wang Li fantasized about these scenarios, then followed Ke Qian and Ye Cha into Repentance Cliff. They navigated the jagged, rocky interior of the cave, where a single misstep could send them crashing into the sharp, protruding stones, resulting in a bloody head wound.

Fortunately, the perilous environment did not remain constant. After the trio had walked for some distance, the surrounding space immediately broadened, no longer as confined as it had been initially.

Although the path ahead had become easier, Ke Qian’s heart was filled with regret.

It was precisely because the path had been difficult that she could have such intimate contact with Ye Cha. Now, however, that opportunity was gone. Despite not being an innocent young girl, encountering Ye Cha made her feel as though she had returned to her maiden years.

Even the slightest brush of their hands made her heart pound like a drum, ceaselessly.

She wondered what it would be like to engage in even more intimate acts…

“Ye Cha, it’s actually you!!!”

Just as Ke Qian was lost in fanciful thoughts, a man’s voice suddenly rang out. A moment later, a corpulent man appeared from seemingly nowhere, his teeth gritted as he glared at Ye Cha, as if an irreconcilable feud existed between them.

Simultaneously, a look of delight spread across Wang Li’s face, who stood behind Ke Qian. ‘Finally, he’s here!’ he thought.

The layout of Repentance Cliff was simple, with limited places to stay. Therefore, it was inevitable that they would encounter Li Ge while passing through. This was a foregone conclusion.

Seeing Li Ge’s robust appearance now, clearly not suffering at Repentance Cliff, demonstrated his considerable capability. Even in a place like this, he had managed to live comfortably.

“Little Gege, what’s wrong? You suddenly left.”

Then, just as Li Ge’s eyes blazed with fury at Ye Cha, another woman’s voice chimed in.

Seconds later, a disheveled woman emerged from a corner. Her attire suggested she was a guard of Repentance Cliff.

Upon seeing Ye Cha’s handsome face, her eyes lit up. She had never imagined she would encounter such a striking individual in this place; her luck was truly extraordinary.

However, just as the female cultivator was marveling at her good fortune, a sharp pain shot through her neck the very next second.

Her head separated from her body, and blood pooled on the ground.

“Ah!!! Murder! You…”

Witnessing such a sudden turn of events, Li Ge’s eyes widened in disbelief. His trembling finger then pointed at Ke Qian, who held a long saber. He couldn’t believe someone would commit murder within the Lingtian Sect!

Who exactly was this woman?

“Noisy.”

Ke Qian looked at the obese man before her, who appeared on the verge of soiling himself from fright. A wave of irritation washed over her. With a swift swing of her blade, she summarily decapitated Li Ge without uttering another word.

As fate would have it, Li Ge’s head rolled directly to Wang Li’s feet.

His lifeless eyes, wide with disbelief, stared straight into the terrified gaze of Wang Li.
