Chapter 75: An Unexpected Ally

When Ye Cha saw Bai Ling appear, his heart leaped into his throat.

Especially when he noticed Bai Ling’s hostile attitude toward Wang Li, he realized just how dangerous this situation had become.

And with Wang Li dragging him into the mess, the already perilous scenario grew even harder to control.

If Ke Qian could show up, Ye Cha wouldn’t be so worried. But now, he couldn’t count on her to save the day…

Just as Ye Cha was thinking this, his left hand was suddenly grasped. Warm fingertips lightly traced his palm, tickling him into reflexively clenching his hand.

The moment he held that delicate hand in his grip, the stone that had been weighing on his heart slowly settled, and calm returned.

It was Zi Linglong.

The Zi Linglong of now was no longer the misandrist he had first met. Whatever had happened in between, Ye Cha found the outcome quite favorable.

At least, she no longer regarded him with hostility, which meant his life was no longer under threat.

Of course, it was still too early to relax completely.

After all, he still didn’t know what Zi Linglong truly thought of him, or what her intentions were.

In this world, no one was kind to another without reason… Even if such people existed, he had never met one, so he didn’t believe they could exist.

That’s why, when Ye Cha heard Zi Linglong whisper in his ear, the corner of his mouth lifted almost imperceptibly. He turned his head slightly toward the empty space beside him, a hint of provocation in his eyes, and said slowly, “Won’t you help me?”

“…”

Zi Linglong was taken aback by his words.

Who would have thought that even now, Ye Cha could still speak with such bravado?

It was… really interesting.

From their first encounter to everything she had discovered since, Zi Linglong found herself growing more and more intrigued by Ye Cha.

She had never met a man like him.

Though she had always kept her distance from men, she wasn’t completely ignorant about them.

A man as fascinating as Ye Cha was a rare find!

Zi Linglong looked down at her hand clasped in his. A smile, complete with dimples, sweet as sugar-laced juice, spread across her face, warming her heart with a single taste.

After obtaining Ye Cha’s essence, Zi Linglong had quickly found a secluded spot to refine it. When she merged it into her nascent soul, she noticed a small change in her transparency.

Although her clone could control its transparency, each use came at a cost, rapidly reducing the clone’s duration.

Thanks to her cultivation technique, Zi Linglong could create multiple clones, but each required rare resources—and the higher her cultivation, the more resources she needed.

But after incorporating Ye Cha’s essence, she discovered that her clone’s duration had increased.

Not only that, her cultivation had also improved. When she finished refining it, she was too excited to speak.

If a mere clone could gain so much from his essence, imagine what surprises might await if she used her true body!

Ye Cha was hers, no matter what.

Given the current situation, only by staying close to Ye Cha could she avoid the stabbing pain. Zi Linglong had to accept the truth.

Her future partner would have to be Ye Cha, unless she chose to remain alone forever…

Between the two options, Zi Linglong didn’t hesitate. She chose the first.

When she thought about it, Ye Cha was handsome, interesting, and emotionally intelligent. In the cultivation world, such a man was truly a rare gem.

More than worthy of her.

So why hesitate?

From now on, Ye Cha was her man. No one else would lay a finger on him.

She had come to the cave intending to take Ye Cha away—even if he refused, she was ready to knock him out and drag him off. But she hadn’t expected this twist.

What was a problem for Ke Qian was an opportunity for Zi Linglong.

A chance to make Ye Cha willingly follow her.

She hadn’t anticipated his response, though. After a moment of surprise, even knowing he was deliberately provoking her, she couldn’t just storm off in a huff.

This man was too much of a tease!

If Ye Cha had meekly asked for her help, she could have demanded he come with her. But that would have felt too easy, too boring.

Instead, his unexpected reaction struck a chord with Zi Linglong.

It excited her.

This was the kind of man that ignited a fierce desire to conquer, burning ever brighter within her.

The unattainable always stirs restless longing.

“You really know how to keep someone on edge. Don’t worry, I won’t let her harm a single hair on your head.”

Completely satisfied with Ye Cha, Zi Linglong withdrew her hand from his grasp and deactivated her transparency. Her purple robe revealed itself to the others.

She looked as petite and adorable as ever, no different from before.

At most, she no longer showed any aversion to men, standing casually by Ye Cha’s side.

“Who are you?!”

Bai Ling had been watching Ye Cha curiously, but the sudden appearance of this woman startled her. She had been in the cave for so long without sensing her presence!

Something was wrong!

She had thought only the woman inside the cave was a problem, but now there was another.

This was bad.

Though Bai Ling detested humans, she couldn’t deny their cultivation speed—it was terrifyingly fast.

Facing this suddenly appearing purple-haired woman, Bai Ling’s first instinct was that she couldn’t win.

Even though Bai Ling was the Demon King’s trusted aide and looked like a warrior, her true strength lay in healing…

The healing arts of the Hedgehog Clan were famous among the demon race.

Bai Ling had built her muscular physique precisely because she refused to follow the traditional path of her clan. She wanted to train relentlessly and break the stereotype others had of them.

Yet, despite that, she had been forced to learn healing techniques since childhood.

And sometimes, fate just loved to play jokes.

Bai Ling disliked the Hedgehog Clan’s healing arts, but her talent for them was a once-in-a-century miracle!

Thus, relying on the very art she despised, she caught the Demon King’s attention.

She had come for the scorpion egg, sensing three people in the cave. Quickly realizing that the strongest cultivator was already injured, Bai Ling thought dealing with them would be easy—so she attacked directly.

Who would have thought an unexpected obstacle would appear? This was truly bad.

“Ye Cha belongs to me. If you want to touch him, you’re tired of living.”

But while Bai Ling was lost in thought, Zi Linglong showed no mercy.

A flash of purple light shot toward Bai Ling, piercing her shoulder. Then the light doubled back, aiming straight for her heart.

Just as it was about to strike, a slender, pale hand suddenly appeared, catching the purple light in its palm and crushing it.

“King!”
