Chapter 29: She has been a sucker for good looks since childhood.

“That time they represented the entire Jingda basketball team, but this is just a match between two departments within the university; I don’t think they’ll play,” Li Yanman said.

At that moment, Shi Kezhen, who had already pulled her desk curtain shut, suddenly heard someone calling her name from outside the curtain.

“Kezhen, your brother is playing today, so you’ll probably go watch the match, right?”

“Do you want to come with us?”

Recognizing Cai Jiaqing’s voice, she pulled the curtain open slightly and gave them a faint smile.

“Mm, I’ll be going this afternoon.”

Upon hearing this, Luo Tingting and Li Yanman also enthusiastically invited her.

“Then let’s go together; speaking of which, we’ve shared this dorm for nearly two years, yet the four of us have never gone out together.”

Looking at their three expectant faces, Shi Kezhen fell silent for a moment before nodding gently.

“Alright.”

Cai Jiaqing let out a sigh.

“Sigh, you’re just too unsociable; you really should hang out with us more…”

Replying to her was the desk curtain being pulled shut once more.

Cai Jiaqing exchanged glances with the other two, all of them feeling slightly awkward, but soon they went back to normal and continued chatting about the afternoon’s basketball match.

Although Shi Kezhen had pulled her curtain shut, blocking out their friendly gestures, she actually wanted to blend in with the three of them.

Having lived together for nearly two years, though she didn’t hang out with them much, she still understood them fairly well.

These three girls were all from out of town; Cai Jiaqing was loud and direct, making her the easiest to get along with, Luo Tingting was gentler and had a good temper, while Li Yanman spoke quite bluntly but harbored no malice.

However, Mother Shi did not like her having friends.

She recalled her cute, round-faced deskmate in elementary school who loved to laugh and would share her own snacks with her.

She recalled the girl in junior high who proactively lent her a sanitary pad when she was caught off guard by her very first period.

Shi Kezhen let out a helpless, bitter smile.

‘Forget it, I simply have no right to have friends.’

‘I should be content with having “Cheng” in secret; I shouldn’t ask for too much.’

It wasn’t even two o’clock in the afternoon when her roommates began urging her to leave quickly.

Shi Kezhen glanced at the time.

“It doesn’t start until three; it’s still early to go now.”

“We have to secure good seats first!”

“If we go late, the front row will be taken.”

“The Business School’s resident hunk, Shi, is playing today; there will definitely be many girls going just to see him.”

“If we don’t go early, we can only sit in the back rows.”

Although Shi Yanzhou’s fame at Jingda couldn’t compare to the three great “male gods,” he was still the idealized white moonlight in the hearts of many girls.

However, ever since his high-profile relationship with Li Yunshu, at least half of his admirers had given up on him.

“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go early,” the others urged repeatedly.

Shi Kezhen had no choice but to nod, picking up her small canvas bag and following the three of them out of the dormitory.

Cai Jiaqing walked at the very front with a light, brisk step.

Luo Tingting and Li Yanman walked hand-in-arm, chattering about which boy was the most handsome.

Shi Kezhen walked at the very back, keeping a distance of a single pace—neither too close nor too far.

Jingda’s indoor basketball court was massive, with over three thousand permanent spectator seats, so there was absolutely no need to worry about not finding a seat; it was merely a matter of how good the view was.

Since they had arrived very early, they managed to snag a row of four adjacent seats right in the second row, offering an excellent view of the entire court.

However, as it drew closer to half an hour before the match, a massive flood of spectators suddenly poured into the stadium, and seventy percent of them were female.

Before long, all three thousand permanent seats were fully occupied.

The basketball match organizers temporarily added over a thousand portable seats, yet there still wasn’t enough room.

Spectators arriving later could only find spots to stand and watch.

The spectators who had arrived early were somewhat bewildered, asking one another what was going on.

The news quickly spread: it turned out that the three great “male gods” of Jingda would be playing on behalf of the Business School this afternoon.

Shi Kezhen heard the people around her whispering fervently, everyone looking excited and thrilled.

She was actually quite surprised by this.

Because Shi Yanzhou was on the Business School’s basketball team, she would come to watch any match where the Business School played.

Furthermore, through Shi Yanzhou, she also knew that the three great “male gods” of Jingda were also on the Business School’s team, though she had never seen them play before.

Why had they suddenly taken the court today?

And all three of them had shown up, no less.

When there were ten minutes left before the match, the players from both teams began arriving.

While the substitutes sat on the bench, the starting players began to warm up.

The spectator stands instantly erupted into a clamor, with some cheering for Jiang Zhexi and some cheering for Jiang Chengshuo, but the vast majority were shouting cheers for Gao Cheng.

The girls who had originally come for Shi Yanzhou had seemingly all experienced a collective change of heart; at least, Shi Kezhen didn’t hear a single person shouting Shi Yanzhou’s name.

Perhaps someone was calling his name, but the voices were too few and completely drowned out by the formidable size of the three “male gods'” fan bases.

While the majority of the spectators focused their attention on the three “male gods,” Shi Kezhen’s gaze remained fixed on Shi Yanzhou as usual.

Wearing his white team uniform with a large number 9 on his jersey, he stood among the players, looking spirited and full of vigor.
