Join the Server– “Prioritizing women over brothers!”
– “Choosing s*x over humanity!”
– “What do you mean you have a wife? Hurry up and bring our sister-in-law out for us to see!”
– “Hey, don’t leave, don’t leave! You’re not allowed to leave!”
– “Quick, quick, stop him! Don’t let this guy run away!”
It was completely chaotic on the other end, and Shi Kezhen listened to them teasing him through her headphones, giggling non-stop.
Gao Cheng was surrounded by the crowd; some pulled his arms, some patted his shoulders, and others intentionally blocked the door to stop him from leaving.
But his temper tonight was surprisingly good, and he didn’t get angry no matter how much they acted up.
This was because he could hear her bell-like laughter on the other end of the phone.
Since they rarely managed to make his wifey happy, he let them mess around.
He rarely tolerated their insolence.
After nearly twenty minutes of chaos, Gao Cheng finally broke through the siege, shook off his gossipy brothers, and sat in his car.
The moment the car door closed, the world fell quiet.
– “Are you really that happy to hear your husband being scolded by his brothers for prioritizing women over humanity? Laughing so joyfully?”
Cheng’s voice came through the headphones, carrying a doting laugh.
Shi Kezhen was still laughing, tears practically coming to her eyes.
– “Yes, I am!”
So this was what displaying affection felt like.
Who wouldn’t know how to do it?
Gao Cheng waited until she had laughed her fill before asking.
– “Didn’t you say you had no time to pay attention to me tonight?”
Shi Kezhen wiped away the tears from laughing, her voice still carrying amusement.
– “I really didn’t have time for you, but I suddenly missed you so much that I couldn’t help myself.”
Her simple confession of missing him made Gao Cheng’s heart bloom with joy.
– “Wait for me; I’m going home right now. Very fast.”
Shi Kezhen glanced at the screen and saw he was sitting in a car, reminding him.
– “Don’t drive if you’ve been drinking. Pay attention to safety.”
– “I’m not driving; there’s a designated driver.”
With the designated driver present, the two of them only chatted idly about various things, saying nothing of the private sweet-talk they reserved for when they were alone.
About ten minutes later, Gao Cheng got out of the car, went up to his apartment, and walked inside.
– “I’m home.”
– “Oh, then get some rest early. Goodnight.”
Shi Kezhen smiled.
– “Huh? Are you playing with me?”
– “Haha, yes, playing with you.”
She unexpectedly didn’t deny it, even laughing quite triumphantly.
Gao Cheng gritted his teeth in warning, though his lips were curved upward.
– “So arrogant?”
Shi Kezhen beamed with joy.
– “Exactly that arrogant. Come and bite me!”
After entering the apartment, Gao Cheng casually tossed his suit jacket and tie onto the sofa, starting to strip off his clothes as he walked toward his bedroom.
Fortunately, he had taken off his suit jacket and loosened his tie before going to the bar; otherwise, Shi Kezhen would have definitely recognized from the suit and tie that Cheng was the Prince of the Gao family from tonight’s banquet.
Watching his movements, Shi Kezhen played dumb.
– “What are you taking off your clothes for?”
– “What do you think?”
She spoke at a rapid-fire speed.
– “Oh, I get it. You want to take a shower. Go ahead then, I’m hanging up. Bye-bye~~”
He threatened lazily.
– “If you dare to hang up, you’re dead.”
Shi Kezhen’s finger hovered over the phone screen as she began to act cute.
– “Oh, hubby, I’m really, really tired today. I’ve been busy all day, and I originally planned to sleep as soon as I got home. I only made time to call you because I missed you so much.”
– “And?”
She spoke as if it were a matter of course.
– “So now that we’ve video-called and resolved the pain of lovesickness, I should go rest!”
– “Your lovesickness is resolved, so you don’t care about your man’s life or death anymore, is that it?”
– “Oh, hubby~~”
She dragged out her words.
– “I’m really so tired. I haven’t even taken a shower yet. Please let me go tonight. I’ll video-chat with you properly tomorrow, okay?”
– “Perfect.”
He said unhurriedly.
– “I’m also preparing to take a shower. Let’s do it together.”
Shi Kezhen was stunned.
– “…Together? How?”
Gao Cheng made no effort to hide his desire.
– “Keep the video on, bring it into the bathroom, and we’ll shower together.”
Shi Kezhen opened her mouth, the image flashing through her mind.
Her face instantly burned up, thoroughly mortified.
This… this was too much; it far exceeded the lower limits of what she could accept.
– “No, absolutely not.”
Her voice stuttered.
– “I don’t want to.”
Gao Cheng originally hadn’t thought of this, but as the conversation flowed to this point, he genuinely wanted it now.
– “Be good.”
His voice dropped lower, coaxing her.
– “Wifey, satisfy me.”
– “This really won’t do!”
Her tone was unusually firm.
Gao Cheng fell silent for a moment before compromising.
– “Then don’t show the video. Put your phone in the bathroom; I’ll just listen to the sound.”
Shi Kezhen still felt this was too outrageous.
– “This is too shameful…”
– “You won’t let me watch, so is even listening to the sound of you showering out of the question?”
His voice carried a hint of grievance, but more than that, it was a persistent, nagging pestering.
– “I…”
She hesitated.
Gao Cheng precisely captured the loosening of her attitude.
He complained with deliberate sorrow.
– “With just one call, one command, I abandoned a whole crowd of people to prove to you that you are the most important in my heart. What about you? Do you really have the heart to treat me like this?”
His voice was as plaintive as an abandoned puppy.
– “I just…”
– “You just lit a massive fire in me, and then you want to watch me burn to death.”
– “Is it really that exaggerated…”
– “Exaggerated?”
He interrupted her.
– “Do you want to reach your hand through the phone to feel it? It’s harder than iron.”
Shi Kezhen: “…”
– “If you don’t put out the fire, you’ll really be a widow tomorrow.”
He let out an exaggerated sigh.
– “I’ll die of a ruptured blood vessel very soon.”
Shi Kezhen bit her lip, her face turning so red it looked as if it would drip blood.
The string in her mind that had been taut for so long suddenly snapped.
