Chapter 32: Preparing for Alchemy

Based on the current condition of his body, the Blood-Replenishing Pills he had taken over the past few months, and the sensations he had experienced after consuming the Qi Gathering Pill, countless impressions surfaced in Lin Yang’s mind.

At the same time, the knowledge of Basic Alchemy Dao began to emerge, organizing and integrating all of that information.

Very soon, a preliminary pill formula appeared in his mind, along with the basic refining method and even a simulated prediction of the final medicinal pill’s effects.

Opening his eyes, Lin Yang slowly stood up and let out a long breath.

“I’ve finally finished reading them all.

It’s time to collect the reward promised by Martial Uncle Sect Leader.”

Leaving the library, Lin Yang did not return to Yu Daiyan’s courtyard.

Instead, he headed straight for the Hall of True Martial.

As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Wudang disciples moving back and forth throughout the hall, all looking extremely busy.

His gaze swept across the crowd as he searched for a familiar face who could bring him to see Song Yuanqiao.

Just then, a child-like figure emerged from a corner.

“Huh? It’s you?

Why are you here?

Shouldn’t you be reading in the library?”

Song Qingshu walked over to Lin Yang.

He had always been curious about this disciple who was around his own age yet had earned such high praise from Martial Uncle Zhang.

Seeing Song Qingshu, Lin Yang’s eyes lit up.

“Senior Brother Song!

This junior wishes to see the Sect Leader.

Could you please introduce me?”

“Qingyang?

I know who you are.

But you actually recognize me?”

Song Qingshu nodded in surprise.

After all, he had never introduced himself.

He hadn’t expected this bookworm to know who he was.

“Senior Brother Song is quite famous among the third-generation disciples.

Of course I recognize you.”

“Really?

Am I that famous?”

Song Qingshu scratched his head awkwardly.

“You want to see my father, right?

Come with me.”

Flattered by Lin Yang’s compliment, Song Qingshu no longer asked why he had come to the Hall of True Martial.

Instead, he immediately led him toward one of the side rooms.

Inside sat Song Yuanqiao.

Several second-generation Wudang disciples were also present, including the martial uncles Lin Yang had met before.

The moment they saw Song Qingshu bringing Lin Yang inside, everyone stood up.

“Qingyang?

What brings you here today?”

Mo Shenggu laughed heartily as he walked over.

The other martial uncles also greeted Lin Yang with friendly nods.

Song Qingshu glanced back at Lin Yang in surprise.

He hadn’t expected Lin Yang to already know his father and the other senior members of the sect.

“Greetings, Martial Uncles.

Sorry to disturb you.”

“Not at all.

Whatever you need, just say it.

Our matters aren’t nearly as important as yours.

A genius like you comes first.”

Song Yuanqiao smiled warmly.

He knew that Lin Yang was no longer merely Wudang’s most talented disciple.

Even his own master, Zhang Sanfeng, held him in high regard.

Naturally, Song Yuanqiao treated him with greater respect than before.

“Reporting to Martial Uncle Sect Leader and the other Martial Uncles, I have finished reading all of the medical and alchemy texts.

I came today to ask whether I could receive some medicinal herbs for refining pills, as well as the necessary alchemy tools.”

“You’ve finished already?

That quickly?”

Song Yuanqiao looked slightly surprised before nodding in understanding.

“That won’t be a problem.

Over the past few months, Wudang has gathered a considerable amount of medicinal herbs.

I’ll have some disciples deliver them to you shortly.

In the rear mountain of Wudang, we have a dedicated place for pill refinement.

There are pill furnaces and charcoal prepared there.

Qingyang, if you wish to study alchemy, you may use that place.

The herbs will be delivered there afterward.”

“Yes.

Thank you, Martial Uncle.”

With Song Yuanqiao’s approval, Lin Yang expressed his thanks.

After he and Song Qingshu left the side room and returned to the main hall, Song Qingshu immediately stared at him with shining eyes.

“You’re going to refine pills?

You actually know alchemy?”

His face was filled with curiosity.

Lin Yang shook his head.

“I don’t know how to refine pills yet.

I’ve only studied a number of alchemy texts and wanted to give it a try.”

“Can I watch?

I know where the alchemy rooms are.

I’ll take you there.”

His curiosity only grew stronger.

“If Senior Brother Song wishes to watch, then of course.

Please.”

“Great!

Follow me.”

Song Qingshu immediately led Lin Yang out of the Hall of True Martial with obvious excitement.

After weaving through the various buildings of Wudang Mountain, the two followed a narrow mountain path into the rear mountain.

Before long, they arrived at a small hill where several stone buildings stood.

Song Qingshu led Lin Yang to the buildings and curiously peeked inside.

Each room contained a bronze pill furnace over a meter tall.

Stacks of charcoal were piled against one wall.

Wooden shelves stood along another wall, holding scattered medicinal herbs.

“Senior Brother Song, isn’t this Wudang’s alchemy workshop?

Why isn’t anyone here?”

Lin Yang glanced around the rooms.

It was obvious that the pill furnaces had been used recently.

Yet strangely, not a single person was present today.

“I know.

That’s because Wudang’s alchemy workload has increased tremendously lately.

All of the alchemists have been transferred to the front mountain.

This place is too small.

It’s fine for refining small batches of pills, but once the quantity increases, these few furnaces simply can’t keep up.”

“I see.”

Lin Yang nodded in understanding.

“Junior Brother, take a look around.

Choose whichever room you like.

From what I can tell, those alchemists won’t have time to return here anytime soon.”

Lin Yang inspected each room.

Since every pill furnace was built in the same style, he simply chose the one at the far end.

After entering, he slowly circled the pill furnace.

As he walked, he lightly tapped its surface with his hand, carefully studying every part of its construction.

According to the knowledge granted by the Scholar System’s Basic Alchemy Dao, the furnace before him was modeled after the legendary Bagua Furnace once used by the Supreme Lord Laozi to refine immortal pills.

Of course, it merely copied the design.

Its actual capabilities were nowhere near as miraculous as the legendary artifact.

In essence, the Bagua Furnace functioned much like a pressure cooker.

It had sections designed to increase internal pressure, vents that intensified the flames, and areas that reduced the temperature.

As Lin Yang examined it alongside the alchemy knowledge in his mind, an idea for improving the furnace gradually formed.

Its design was still far too simple.

Temperature control lacked precision.

Adjusting the heat depended almost entirely on the alchemist’s experience and intuition.

In the end, that was hardly a reliable method.
