Chapter 20: Be My Little Dog

Xu Lingxue stood at the doorway, hair still wet, and stared at the scene before her in silence.

On her bed was a little yellow-haired girl in a white dress.

The little girl had one hand raised, middle finger aimed at the small dog by the bed, while her other hand propped her up.

She was kicking at the dog with her tiny feet, again and again, trying to fend off the persistent animal that wanted to lick her toes.

The dog belonged to Xu Lingxue. She had spotted it on the roadside and picked it up on a whim. Because its fur was yellowish, she named it Xiao Huang.

The small white cat curled at her feet, watching Xiao Huang like it was an idiot, had been picked up by Jiang Qing. Its fur was snow-white, so it was called Xiao Bai.

Their names were simple.

“Xiao Huang.” She called out.

Mo Liang looked up at the sound, toward Xu Lingxue at the door. The other girl had just finished showering, her wet black hair not fully dried, a few strands stuck to her slender neck.

That cold, delicate face looked a little softer now. Mo Liang had to admit the perverted young miss was absurdly good-looking.

But she quickly added silently: ‘Still a bit less than Shen Zhiyi.’

When Xiao Huang heard its owner call, it drooped its ears and trotted obediently to Xu Lingxue’s feet, tail wagging slightly.

Seeing this, Mo Liang slid off the bed, bare feet on the cold tile, and lowered her head obediently. Her two small white feet pressed together, toes curling slightly.

Xu Lingxue walked into the room while drying her hair, tone casual.

“You wanted to get on my bed that badly?”

Mo Liang’s face flushed red.

‘This bastard was definitely teasing her. Definitely.’

‘If you hadn’t refused to give her shoes, and your perverted dog hadn’t kept chasing her around, would she have hidden on the bed? She wasn’t asking for it.’

But the truth was Mo Liang didn’t dare say any of that. She could only hang her head, aggrieved, voice barely audible.

“No…”

Her grievance clearly meant nothing to Xu Lingxue. Xu Lingxue looked down at Xiao Huang, who was now sitting obediently by her feet, and scolded, “You even kicked my dog. Look what you’ve done to it.”

‘Bullshit.’ Mo Liang cursed inwardly. She had barely used any force. And this stupid dog had been bouncing around just a moment ago. The second you showed up, it froze and squatted there with a serious face. ‘How was that her fault?’

Xu Lingxue said without changing expression, “Xiao Huang used to be lively. Now you’ve kicked it into depression.”

“Sorry. I know I was wrong.” Mo Liang lowered her head and apologized honestly.

She had apologized so sincerely. Xu Lingxue wouldn’t give her more trouble, right?

Clearly, she had thought too much.

“Apologies are useless.”

Xu Lingxue had finished drying her hair. It hung smooth by her shoulders. She crouched, picked up the two fluffy little creatures, and stood. Only when she reached the door did she unhurriedly add, “Since you kicked Xiao Huang into depression, then you can be my little dog.”

With that, she turned and left with the cat and dog, leaving Mo Liang alone in the empty room.

“Wuwuwu…”

Mo Liang’s legs trembled uncontrollably. Her small face was full of confusion and fear. She had apologized. And what did that sentence even mean? ‘Make her a little dog? A literal dog, or something worse?’ She didn’t dare think further.

Even though Xu Lingxue had been gone for a while, Mo Liang stayed frozen in place, not daring to move.

After a long time, footsteps finally came from the doorway.

Mo Liang watched Xu Lingxue stroll into the room, holding several things. The most eye-catching was a black leather collar. The little bell on it jingled softly with each step.

“Put this on.”

Xu Lingxue held the collar out toward Mo Liang, tone airy.

“No.” Mo Liang instinctively raised her hands, both small palms covering Xu Lingxue’s hand that held the collar. She looked up, voice tearful, pleading. “Master, I really know I was wrong. I won’t dare do it again!”

Xu Lingxue looked down at the small hands over hers, slender and white, trembling slightly. Her expression didn’t change. She only said softly, “If you don’t let go, something scary might happen.”

Mo Liang looked into Xu Lingxue’s calm eyes. She didn’t doubt for a second that the other girl would do it. Her hands slid off Xu Lingxue’s hand bit by bit, falling to her sides, fingertips still trembling.

Xu Lingxue curved her lips in satisfaction. She fastened the collar gently around that slender white neck. The metal buckle clicked shut, and the little bell gave a clear ring.

“Good. Isn’t this cute?”

Xu Lingxue stroked Xiao Huang’s fluffy head, long fingers running through the golden hair. “Quick, bark twice. If you bark, you won’t have to wear that thing from before.”

She bent slightly, voice gentle but with an irresistible pull.

‘Really? Bark twice and no wearing that creepy thing? Just twice?’

Mo Liang swallowed and stared at Xu Lingxue doubtfully. Xu Lingxue nodded, her expression flawless in its sincerity.

Mo Liang bit her lip. Two little people fought in her head. One said just bark, it won’t cost you a piece of flesh. The other said if you kneel and bark like a dog, how will you live as a person later?

Her mouth opened and closed, hesitating several times. After Xu Lingxue waited a few seconds, her expression gradually turned impatient, and her tone dropped.

“Looks like you really are a perverted little yellow-haired girl.”

“Dawdling instead of barking. You actually want to wear that thing, don’t you? You say you don’t want to, but inside you actually…”

“Woof woof!” Mo Liang threw caution away, raised her face, and barked clearly twice at Xu Lingxue.

After barking, she looked at the other girl expectantly, praying this would be enough. But Xu Lingxue looked down at her and didn’t nod. She only said unhurriedly, “Hm? A little pet should bark lying on the floor.”

Mo Liang bit her lip. The last bit of shame in her heart struggled. But only for a moment. She had already barked anyway. What was one more pose?

She slowly lowered herself, palms on the cold tile, knees rubbing against the floor twice, arranging herself like a dog. Then she raised her red face, burning with shame, and opened her mouth to bark again. “Woof woof.”
