Chapter 34: Don’t Make Trouble for Me

“Do you want to order something?”

Jiang Qing checked a few items on the menu and pushed it toward her.

Mo Liang’s gaze drifted to the other woman’s hand without her meaning it to. Her fingers were fair and slender, but not as long as Shen Zhiyi’s.

She compared them in her head for no reason. When she came back to herself, she felt ridiculous. Why was she staring at someone’s fingers?

She didn’t answer. She skimmed the menu, picked a few dishes at random, then looked at the older woman beside them.

The woman had been glaring at her with open hostility since earlier. Mo Liang was never the patient type. The more the woman stared, the more irritated she became.

Just a waitress. So when she handed the menu over, she deliberately let it slip. It hit the floor with a smack.

The middle-aged woman’s face darkened. Before she could say anything, Jiang Qing bent down first, picked up the menu, brushed off the dust, and handed it back with a smile.

“Sorry, Sister Li. My friend didn’t mean it. Please don’t take it to heart.”

“It’s fine. Your friend here sure acts like a big shot!” Sister Li took the menu and shot Mo Liang a fierce glare, her words barbed.

“It’s not that I want to gossip, Sister Li, but making me wait here so long, your friend really has some nerve.”

Mo Liang understood at once why this woman had it out for her. Hilarious. So what if she made Jiang Qing wait half an hour? That was practically a favor.

“Tch. Not as big as your fat face.”

Mo Liang wasn’t about to take the scolding for nothing. She fired back right away.

A little waitress thought she could throw shade at her? Fine. They could tear into each other and see who ended up humiliated.

If the woman wanted a fight, Mo Liang would give her one. She wanted to see who broke first.

If this fat woman dared to argue, she would go all the way. If the woman got angry enough to hit her, even better. Mo Liang would call the police.

Sister Li choked on her words, her face turning red and white. She was about to explode when Jiang Qing stepped between them, pulled her aside with coaxing and tugging, and spoke a few words in a low voice.

Soon after, Sister Li glared at Mo Liang one last time, shoved the menu into her apron, and stalked off in a huff.

Mo Liang sat with her legs crossed. At some point she had swiped a cola and was sipping it slowly through a straw. When Jiang Qing came back, still looking at her with reproach, she tilted her head and met her eyes.

“Why did you stop that fat woman? Let her come over. Who’s scared of who?”

Mo Liang was only running her mouth. Their seats were tucked away in a corner, and there was hardly anyone around, so she dared to be that cocky.

The moment she finished, Jiang Qing paused halfway into sitting down. That soft, fragile face went dark in an instant.

Then she didn’t sit. She stood up, walked around the table, and sat down beside Mo Liang.

‘This is bad.’

Mo Liang’s heart lurched. She should have kept her mouth shut. But backing down now would be too embarrassing, so she pretended to be calm.

She forced herself not to shrink away, held her neck stiff, and muttered, “What are you doing? Don’t come closer…”

Jiang Qing’s body was pressed close to hers. Mo Liang tensed up instantly, her body trembling before she could stop it. Her mind filled with the memory of being kissed until she couldn’t breathe.

“Sister Mo Liang, don’t cause me any more trouble, okay? Otherwise I’ll get upset.” Jiang Qing tilted her head slightly. Her voice was as soft as ever, her expression almost gentle.

But it made Mo Liang’s scalp prickle. She nodded obediently, not daring to run her mouth again.

As the dishes arrived one by one, Jiang Qing started again. She kept putting food into Mo Liang’s bowl, and finally lifted a bite right to her lips.

“I don’t need you to feed me!” Mo Liang turned her head away, looking like she would rather die than obey.

Before she could dodge, a hand appeared under the table and rested on her thigh, not too hard, not too light.

The palm was warm. Her fingertips pressed slightly into the flesh, hurting and tickling at once. Mo Liang nearly shot up from her chair.

“Ah… I’ll eat, I’ll eat, okay? We’re still outside…” Mo Liang shuddered and lowered her voice. Face red, she swallowed the bite.

But Jiang Qing didn’t pull her hand back. Instead, it slid slowly upward, full of malice.

“Y-you, take your hand away…”

Mo Liang kept her voice as low as possible. Her whole body was stiff. She could only pick at her rice in tiny bites and beg with her eyes for Jiang Qing to stop.

Yet a strange burning sensation began to rise in her throat. It wasn’t entirely unpleasant.

There was even a kind of unspeakable thrill to it. She thought she really had gone crazy.

Her enemy was feeling up her thigh in public, and she actually found it exciting.

If she had still been a man, bringing a girlfriend to a restaurant like this, she might have used the lack of people to grope her girlfriend’s pale, soft thigh. Watching her want to cry out but not dare, she might have been unbearably excited.

But now she was the one being touched! She hurriedly covered Jiang Qing’s hand with her own, trying to stop that disobedient hand from moving higher.

“Sister Mo Liang, let go now.” Jiang Qing turned her hand over and wrapped it around Mo Liang’s, her tone light.

“You don’t want anything to happen to your little sister, do you? If you keep stopping me, I can’t promise what she’ll do.”

“Nn…” Mo Liang’s hand trembled, and her eyes reddened fast.

She let go, spinelessly, and could only watch as Jiang Qing grew bolder, kneading her thigh. She knew begging was useless with someone like this, but she still couldn’t help whimpering, “My sister is innocent. Can you please leave her out of this…”

“Hm? Then are the people you deceived innocent?”

Jiang Qing tilted her head. Her eyes were clear and cruel. Her fingers wandered unhurriedly over Mo Liang’s leg.

“B-but what you’re doing is wrong…” Mo Liang argued weakly, her voice barely audible. She didn’t even know what she was saying.

“We can settle this peacefully.” She added it lamely.

Jiang Qing let out a soft laugh, as if she had heard something hilarious.

“Why are you so silly now? Even if I let you go, do you think Xu Lingxue will?”

Her fingers didn’t stop. They traced light circles against Mo Liang’s thigh.

“Besides, I don’t want to let a cutie like you go either.”

“Ah… someone’s coming. Stop, please.”

Mo Liang caught movement at the restaurant entrance from the corner of her eye and quickly softened her voice to plead. “Please, really, stop. Someone came in…”

But that bastard Jiang Qing didn’t stop. If anything, Mo Liang’s reaction seemed to please her, and her hand became even bolder.

Mo Liang’s body went rigid. She nearly cried out. She bit down hard on her lower lip, forcing the sound back into her throat.

Two girls who looked like students came in and chose a table near the door. Several tables away, they noticed nothing in the corner.

Mo Liang pressed her legs tightly together, trapping the hand still misbehaving.

“I’m begging you…” Her voice had taken on a tearful edge.

Only then did Jiang Qing seem satisfied. She slowly withdrew her hand and gave Mo Liang a sweet, innocent smile.

“I won’t tease you anymore.”

Mo Liang felt as if she had been granted amnesty. She quickly straightened up, wiped her eyes, and tried hard to act as if nothing had happened.
