X
The Life Source Star is essentially a planet overflowing with life energy due to special circumstances. Because the life energy is so abundant, although the surface is covered with towering vegetation, animals find it difficult to survive. It’s a type of resource planet. The value of this planet is immense. — The Life Heart material is its main product.
“Annie.”
“Hmm?”
After a pause, the girl suddenly called out to the small red-haired witch who was still cleaning, her tone somewhat unusual.
“Is your family really rich? High-tier materials just given away like that…”
“We’re fairly wealthy, I guess?” Annie paused her sweeping, supporting herself with one hand on the broom, the other tapping her chin thoughtfully. “At least among the nobility.”
“…”
“But not so rich that I could casually give away a ninth-tier material~”
The cute witch smiled in the dim little shop, shining like sunlight: “I just happen to give it to Jiang Cha.”
“Even I wouldn’t give something like that casually…”
The girl sighed. Jiang Cha really couldn’t do anything about Annie.
For Jiang Cha, Annie’s affection was indeed somewhat baffling. They had only known each other for two short months, with even less time actually spent together. Even if it were love at first sight, it was still remarkably fast. Yet Annie liked her—deeply, unwaveringly.
Even though Annie could foresee the future and understood Jiang Cha very well, knowing Jiang Cha could be deceitful, she was still captivated. This kind of love—devoted entirely to one person, exclusive—left Jiang Cha feeling somewhat at a loss.
Logically, Jiang Cha knew she didn’t fully understand Annie yet. Their time together was too short to determine if Annie had ulterior motives. The safest choice would be to maintain distance and stop contact.
But her feelings made it impossible to refuse a girl who could casually place a ninth-tier material in front of her while smiling and saying, “I’ll only give it to you.”
Who could reject such a girl? She was just pure—purely in love with someone.
Annie didn’t even stop Jiang Cha from spending time with other girls, even knowing it would create more rivals. She seemed content just to love Jiang Cha.
“Don’t you want to go back to your own shop?”
After a while, in the quiet little shop, Jiang Cha stopped flipping through her book and looked up at the red-haired girl, who was propping her face with her hands, happily staring at her.
“I feel that Jiang Cha, full of necromantic energy, looks really cool. I want to watch a little longer.”
The nature of magic could affect a witch’s emotions. This was normal. The decayed, cold nature of necromantic magic meant Jiang Cha’s mood wasn’t particularly high today. Under ordinary circumstances, she wouldn’t have been this quiet.
“You don’t need to study at all?”
The girl sighed. Even without considering the slightly overwhelming love, just the “love-brain” aspect alone was already too much for Jiang Cha to handle. Especially since Annie could accurately detect her lies. Jiang Cha couldn’t even get away with deceiving her. Though Annie might go along with her lies, the feeling was completely different.
“But… but…”
Annie was a little scared. She worried Jiang Cha might be tired of her, yet couldn’t give up on this rare cold-hearted Jiang Cha.
“Today I just want to spend a little more time with you… it’s rare.”
“Just a little… is that… okay?”
The cute red-haired witch hugged Jiang Cha’s arm, tilting her face and looking pitiful.
“…I’m not trying to send you away. Fine.”
Jiang Cha sighed, lowering her head to continue reading her magic book.
She was currently in her natural learning mode, which didn’t bring her to complete rationality, but did suppress emotions and allow her to focus on study. Combined with the influence of death magic… her coldness wasn’t because she was annoyed with Annie. Multiple factors created this special state.
She genuinely worried about Annie—after all, she was a young witch, possibly a family heir. Jiang Cha couldn’t allow Annie to let her love brain get in the way of serious matters.
Occasionally teasing her was fine, but Jiang Cha wouldn’t let Annie act recklessly with important life matters.
But as Annie said, it was just for today.
“Do as you like, just don’t interfere with important matters.”
The whole day passed. The little witch shop had only Jiang Cha and Annie.
One was reading, the other was watching the reader.
Time passed quickly. The sun set, the full moon rose, darkness filled the sky, leaving only scattered stars.
“You really stayed by my side all day, huh.”
Jiang Cha, exiting learning mode, looked at Annie leaning against her, helplessly speaking.
“Ah, the exclusive cold-Jiang-Cha benefit is gone now?”
The red-haired witch blinked, satisfied, smiling.
“Nope, now it’s bad-girl Jiang Cha mode, little girl, run~”
The girl playfully smiled, teasing.
“Ah——then I better leave quickly.”
Annie smiled gently. Though she said she was leaving, she pressed herself fully against Jiang Cha, showing no intention of actually leaving. The words and actions were opposites.
“Hey~~ get up~”
Jiang Cha poked her lips gently, coaxing her like a child.
“No no no~ I want to lie in Jiang Cha’s arms until the end of time.”
“…You’ve got some spirit, I’ll give you that.”
Though she said this, Annie was still considerate. After a whole day, she had only acted spoiled for less than five minutes, then stood up from Jiang Cha’s embrace.
Together they left the shop. As Jiang Cha locked the door and hung up the temporarily closed sign, she turned and saw Annie’s smile, no longer tired, back to her usual sunny, energetic self.
“Thanks, Jiang Cha, for today.”
Annie spoke shyly, her expression slightly embarrassed.
“My ability is still too weak to control myself. I often take what I ‘see’ as reality and end up causing trouble.”
“Jiang Cha, thank you for not hating me!”
The “seeing” she mentioned wasn’t ordinary; it was seeing the future.
“I don’t mind. You’re cute, after all.”
“I know! I know! Because Jiang Cha is a witch who only needs to be pretty!”
Annie’s smile suddenly turned slightly mischievous, striking straight at Jiang Cha’s defenses.
“I probably haven’t shown that side before…”
“Hehe, I’m a precognitive witch. I know a lot about you—lots~~”
She spread her hands wide, trying to convey many concepts at once.
Jiang Cha could only helplessly shake her head, walking side by side with her in the night, not understanding exactly how much Annie knew.
