It was only the first time the team had fought together, and their opponents were still Daisy’s squad—a team composed entirely of Grand Witches. Achieving such results was already quite impressive.
No, it should be said that Jiang Cha’s commanding ability compensated to some extent for their lack of coordination, allowing them to barely reach this level of performance.
After all, throughout this match, Mephist was under constant pressure, and Violet just followed Jiang Cha’s orders, leaving only Chabao (Jiang Cha herself) to fight hard and bleed for the team.
But if we consider replacing them with Lina and Heqin, who have longer experience fighting together, would the results be better?
The possibility isn’t high. Their coordination is good, but without Violet’s “nuclear bomb” to control the field, they don’t have a method to quickly take down Grand Witches.
This round of battle offered them little to review strategically. The main goal was simply to help the little one get familiar with the pace of combat.
As for another kind of “review”…
“Because the person I’m talking about is Lina, you know?” Jiang Cha laughed lightly, covering her mouth, seeing Mephist’s confused expression. “She’s someone even you can understand, senpai. She definitely wouldn’t act like an ordinary girl.”
“That makes sense,” Mephist nodded. She knew Lina—both came from established European witch families, so the younger generation had some contact. Although opportunities to interact were rare, she understood a bit about Lina’s personality.
“However, I must remind you, Jiang Cha, that even the most careless girl can reveal her girlish side in love. Things may not be as simple as you imagine.”
“Okay, thanks for the advice, senpai.” Jiang Cha nodded politely but didn’t take it too seriously.
With Heqin around, Chabao might really panic and try to figure out what to do. But Lina and she knew each other too well—two little tricksters like them wouldn’t fall for each other so easily.
“Um, um, what are Jiang Cha and Mephist talking about?”
The little one with black hair and eyes noticed the silence and her little ears drooped. She blinked curiously. Jiang Cha glanced at Mephist, noticed her expression, and then said with a knowing smile:
“This kind of thing is too early for you to understand.”
After gently ruffling the little one’s hair, she continued:
“How about we wait until Violet grows to 150 cm tall, then I’ll tell you?”
“I think you’re a bit too young to understand this now,” Mephist agreed.
“Eh~ is it harder to understand than Advanced Magical Theory?”
“In a sense, yes~”
“I’ll do my best to grow up!”
The little one held hands with both Jiang Cha on the left and Mephist on the right, looking around obediently as she spoke.
“I’m looking forward to that day.”
Jiang Cha smiled gently, but Mephist’s expression was somewhat strange.
‘Jiang Cha… she probably wouldn’t make a move on her, right?’
Her concern wasn’t unfounded. In this world, many witches took their apprentices as “child brides,” and Jiang Cha, having only been enrolled a few months, already had entanglements with many witches.
The academy loved gossip, and clubs even more so. Jiang Cha, as a rising star, was prime material for young witches’ tea-time gossip.
Mephist had also heard about many girls connected to Jiang Cha, some even being main figures in her gossip circle. She herself was actually a piece of Jiang Cha’s “puzzle.” Such a girl warranted suspicion.
“Does Violet like battles?”
“Yes! It’s so fun! Very exciting!”
“Not afraid of pain?”
“Not at all! Pain actually makes it more thrilling! I also want to go on adventures! Jiang Cha, when will Mom let me go out on my own?”
“Hmm… maybe when you’re a bit older?”
Mephist lowered her head in thought while Jiang Cha was busy with the little one. The child held both of their hands, hopping along between them, joyfully keeping pace.
“Yo~ where did this little family come from, so sweet?”
Daisy came along, waving and teasing.
“Then Jiang Cha must be the dad!”
The little one understood but happily joined Daisy’s team, thinking through the situation.
“Oh~~~” *3
At that moment, Daisy, Kelly, and Misa all let out a synchronized realization sigh.
“That’s not it! Senpai, don’t mess around with Violet like that!”
Jiang Cha didn’t react much, but Mephist blushed. She had just been speculating, and suddenly they were being labeled as a couple with a child—her composure couldn’t help but feel guilty.
“But Mephist should be the mom, very gentle.”
“Then why does Violet think Jiang Cha is the dad?”
Daisy squatted, asking mischievously.
“Because Jiang Cha… feels just like me! Very aggressive, and plays with me too!”
The child’s judgment was precise: the gentle one doing chores is the mom, the one playing wildly together is the dad. Perfectly age-appropriate.
“Then Violet needs to work hard, make more friends, and grow up to be your dad’s kind of ‘top’ too.”
“What does ‘top’ mean?”
The little one tilted her head, not understanding.
“Alright, Daisy senpai, don’t teach Violet such strange things,” Jiang Cha interrupted before Mephist could get overloaded.
It’s normal that noble witches and battle witches have different perspectives. Someone like Ter taking a daughter to the red-light district was already expelled by Jiang Cha from the noble witch ranks.
“Waa~ Daddy Jiang Cha is mad now.”
Daisy pretended to be frightened, stood up, and smoothly changed the topic:
“So, what now? Let the little one rest or continue? I’ll say it—although the Camilla Cup is an amateur tournament, it’s still not easy to win. If you want to take the championship, you need to get serious.”
“Otherwise, we’re just wasting time together.”
Daisy’s team had been invited by Jiang Cha as sparring partners. The fee was low, more like a friendship rate. They treated it as earning pocket money during their vacation.
Such requests rarely involve Grand Witch teams, so Jiang Cha was actually doing them a favor. Of course, Mephist covered the cost.
“Violet, are you okay? Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Jiang Cha didn’t answer immediately. She first observed Violet’s condition. She knew the priority: the purpose of this session was to let the little one have fun, even if it meant owing a favor later.
Everything depended on Violet’s mood.
“Yeah! I still want to keep playing!”
