Chapter 130: Elena’s True Intentions

“Well, this is quite something…”

Lovelenica raised an eyebrow. Outwardly, she seemed to sigh with emotion, but inwardly, she was brimming with the joyous thrill of gossip. She had never imagined such internal machinations existed within her own family.

Julie continued to gaze at Lovelenica with resentful eyes. Theresa’s merciless words had completely provoked her, leaving her with nowhere to vent her frustration. Now, Julie could only reveal her innermost feelings to Lovelenica. Despite their past animosity, Lovelenica was the only one she could seek solace from at this moment.

“Mother truly doesn’t care about me, does she…? If only I could become the Saintess, then Mother would surely value me…”

Rebuked by Lovelenica, Julie’s eyes welled up again. Hearing Lovelenica praise Elena only intensified the grievance in her heart.

Elena’s personality was clearly far worse, yet no one in the family seemed to notice. No, perhaps they did know, but Elena’s displayed talent commanded their admiration, causing them to overlook her character flaws.

“W-why are you also taking Elena’s side? You too, and Mother too! Boohoohoo… She was the one who proposed the plan, so why did Mother only punish me? And you’re telling me to learn from her!”

Julie was utterly aggrieved. The emotions that had slowly subsided now surged anew, and fresh tears spilled from her already swollen eyes.

Lovelenica’s brows furrowed instantly. Elena didn’t seem like the type to do such a thing. When she had spoken to Lovelenica earlier, she had been incredibly kind, without any pretense or childish tantrums. Most importantly, she had no conflict with Lovelenica and had barely even met Lucia a few times. There was no logical reason for her to target Lucia.

“W-who’s joking around?!”

Lovelenica’s skepticism only further vexed Julie. In a fit of anger, she rubbed her tear-filled eyes, then impulsively snatched a cup of murky water from the desktop and hurled it at Lovelenica.

“What’s so great about Elena? Why are you all so biased towards her?!”

Lovelenica calmly raised her hand, deftly catching the teacup Julie had thrown. She then set the cup down before her.

After throwing the cup, Julie immediately slumped back into her chair, covering her eyes and sobbing silently, her entire body trembling.

Lovelenica wasn’t angered by Julie throwing the teacup at her. Judging by Julie’s emotions and actions, she genuinely felt wronged. These feelings didn’t seem feigned; she was clearly acting out of emotional distress to throw something at Lovelenica.

“W-w-when I started, I never intended to kill Lucia! I just wanted to be first! Elena was the one who truly wanted to kill Lucia, yet you’re still defending her!”

Julie buried her face in her arms on the table, her voice muffled as she choked back sobs and angrily denounced Lovelenica.

“Why? Lucia isn’t even part of her organization. They have no grievances, and I never provoked her. Why would she target Lucia?”

Though Lovelenica remained somewhat skeptical, she didn’t press further about the truth. Instead, she inquired about Julie’s reasons. Continuing to express doubt would likely only provoke Julie further. It was better to ask directly. If Julie could explain it, it was probably true; if not, it was certainly false.

After asking, Lovelenica even used exorcism power to once again isolate the sounds inside and outside Julie’s room, preventing any eavesdropping.

It was always wise to be cautious when on someone else’s territory.

“Who knows what she’s thinking?!”

Upon hearing that Lovelenica seemed to momentarily believe her, Julie lifted her head. With her swollen, tear-stained eyes, she continued to wail, “She was acting like she had a screw loose, kept saying that Lucia was too close to you, that she didn’t deserve to be your student, and so on! I don’t even know what she sees in you!”

“Pfft—Are you, are you serious?!”

“Why, why won’t you believe me?!”

Hearing Lovelenica’s renewed skepticism, Julie angrily slammed her fist on the table.

Julie’s reasoning was so preposterous that Lovelenica’s mind momentarily froze. Julie seemed to imply that Elena was infatuated with Lovelenica and didn’t want anyone else close to her, hence her desire to eliminate Lucia, a student who was close to Lovelenica. Such an outrageous scenario, Lovelenica had only ever encountered in novels.

However, sometimes reality was far more absurd than fiction. Fiction sometimes adhered to logic, and even AI could achieve logical consistency, but reality, at times, was utterly devoid of it.

Therefore, such an incredibly outlandish reason actually made it less likely to be false, as Julie wouldn’t concoct such a story to deceive her.

Lovelenica suddenly recalled her previous conversations with Elena. While Elena’s demeanor didn’t explicitly suggest such intentions, the blood-infused desserts spoke volumes. Even though they were Liliana’s kin, they had never directly served Bloodkin. Moreover, Lovelenica herself was not well-regarded within the Crimson Family. In such circumstances, why would a human willingly prepare such desserts for a Vampire every day? Wouldn’t handling blood and similar substances daily cause physiological discomfort?

Furthermore, when Lovelenica had asked Elena for a blood bag that day, Elena had proactively offered her own blood. This was even more inexplicable by normal standards. Although Julie had just begged Lovelenica to drink her blood, that was a desperate act born from Julie’s emotional breakdown, entirely different from Elena’s earlier offer.

After this recollection, Lovelenica could only conclude that Julie’s explanation was indeed the truth.
