Chapter 58: The Unleashed Fury

Lucia wasn’t the only one intent on eradicating Rachel. Lovelenica, too, wished to keep Rachel confined here.

This wasn’t due to any lingering aversion to the Bloodkin from her past life as a human. Rather, Lovelenica sensed a familiar aura emanating from Rachel.

This familiarity wasn’t merely the bond shared between fellow Bloodkin. It was an essence far more intimate, a connection deeper than kinship.

It felt, in fact, like a part of herself.

With a surge of power, Lovelenica and Lucia lunged simultaneously. They attacked Rachel from both left and right flanks.

Countless slashes intertwined in the narrow alley, forming a shimmering silver net. Rachel found herself trapped within this cul-de-sac.

It became clear why Lucia had circled earlier. She had been meticulously searching for the perfect ambush spot, a place where Rachel would have no escape.

With her Bloodkin powers, Rachel believed she could match the fifth-tier Lovelenica in a one-on-one fight. She could even suppress the third-tier Lucia. However, confronting their combined assault, Rachel was clearly struggling.

Against the surging tide of countless slashes, constant evasion became impossible. Rachel desperately tried to avoid fatal blows, parrying any unavoidable attacks with her razor-sharp claws.

Her crimson claws carved long arcs through the air, tearing at the incoming silver sword-light. The blessed Gun-swords, even with a mere touch to Rachel’s skin, inflicted waves of searing pain.

As new wounds accumulated on her body, Rachel’s fury intensified. Never, since acquiring her powers, had she been so utterly cornered and disgraced.

“You despicable humans!”

Rachel shrieked, her eyes swirling with crimson. From Lucia’s shadow, countless ink-black arms erupted, seizing her. Unprepared for such an attack, Lucia found her limbs pinned, rendering her immobile.

“What kind of magic is this!?”

Lucia was startled. She had no knowledge of Bloodkin possessing such magic; her studies indicated their spells were predominantly blood-related. What, then, were these arms suddenly emerging from shadows?

Lovelenica, standing nearby, was similarly restrained by the shadowy limbs.

“Die!”

Rachel formed her right hand into a blade. She lunged, aiming the hand-blade directly at Lucia’s chest.

Although Lovelenica was ensnared, Rachel knew her magic could only hold her for a fleeting moment. She couldn’t eliminate Lovelenica in that instant. Therefore, she needed to deal with the weaker Lucia first, at least reducing one combatant.

As for Lucia’s pure blood, Rachel had no time to savor it. She intended to pierce Lucia’s heart with a single strike. What good was regeneration if her heart was destroyed? Rachel doubted Lucia’s regenerative abilities could mend such a fatal wound.

*Clang—*

Yet, a figure with flowing silver hair, wielding two Gun-swords, blocked Rachel’s path. Lovelenica, enveloped in divine blessings, firmly parried Rachel’s hand-blade.

‘No! How was she so fast!’

*Squelch—*

Rachel felt a sharp sting at her fingertips. It was immediately followed by a searing, burning sensation, as if her flesh were being roasted.

Crimson blood splattered across Lovelenica’s nun’s habit. A chunk of flesh, dragging blood and bone fragments, fell to the ground, while the sword tip bore remnants of tissue. It was half of Rachel’s hand.

“Agh—!!! Human… you!”

Rachel instantly recoiled to the alley wall. She clutched her half-severed right hand, trembling, and glared venomously at Lovelenica.

“Is this the physique of a Bloodkin? Truly formidable,” Lovelenica remarked. “But calling us ‘humans’ with such disdain, are you trying to elevate yourself?”

Lovelenica flicked her Gun-sword, casting the blood and tissue from its blade onto the ground. With another swift strike, she severed the shadowy arms binding Lucia, freeing her. Lovelenica appeared completely at ease, as if she had discerned something crucial.

Although their blessed silver Gun-swords were anathema to Fantasy Creatures like Vampires, they didn’t completely halt Bloodkin regeneration. Instead, they drastically slowed the process. Nevertheless, powerful Bloodkin could still force a rapid healing of their wounds.

Another method of healing was through blood consumption. While Rachel wasn’t a particularly powerful Bloodkin, she had feasted extensively in the past few days, so her reserves should have been substantial.

Yet, Lovelenica observed no signs of even slow regeneration from Rachel.

“Can a broken ghoul like you even be called Bloodkin?”

“Shut your mouth!”

Lovelenica’s words seemed to strike a nerve. Rachel immediately erupted into a torrent of curses, cutting her off.

“You wretched swine! You livestock, your only purpose is to serve as food for us Bloodkin! Die!”

*Boom—*

Rachel’s eyes glowed crimson, with streaks of blood seeping from their corners. Lovelenica and Lucia felt the ground tremble violently. Surrounding bricks and tiles instantly fractured, and with a thunderous roar, a colossal arm emerged from a fissure in the earth, blocking their path. Slowly, a stone giant rose from the ground. Even a single finger of this behemoth was larger than both their bodies combined.

The already narrow alley was completely blocked by the stone giant. Neither of them could see if Rachel was still behind the colossal creature.

However, they had no time to worry about Rachel now.

Rachel’s bleeding eyes were a symptom of dual overload—both magical and mental. Normally, a Mage exerting themselves to this extent would collapse unconscious. Yet, Rachel, relying on her formidable Bloodkin physique, endured, summoning an earth elemental familiar of a higher tier than her own.

This stone giant before them was, without a doubt, a fifth-tier creature!

The stone giant raised its immense fist. It brought it crashing down onto the ground where they stood.

“Lucia, get out of the way!”

Lovelenica’s gaze sharpened, and she hastily warned Lucia.

Even as Beheading Nuns, their specialization was close-quarters combat. Strength was not their primary advantage, especially against earth elements, which inherently favored brute force. Even if their bodies could withstand the stone giant’s blows, their Gun-swords would shatter under the immense impact.

*Boom—*

The powerful fist struck the ground with devastating force. The street, already cracked, now completely disintegrated. Nearby houses were reduced to rubble.

“Cough, cough, Lucia! Are you alright?”

The swirling dust made Lovelenica cough uncontrollably. She called out to Lucia, checking on her. Looking around, she saw Lucia sprawled on a pile of rubble, gritting her teeth and glaring fiercely at the fleeing Rachel in the distance.

Having witnessed the ruins before her, Lucia was consumed by a single thought.

“Bastard… I’ll kill you! I’ll definitely kill you! You damned Vampire!!!”
