Fan channels are just fan channels.
If you don’t have the intention to run YouTube, there’s no reason for a broadcaster to pay and hire a fan channel, no matter how large it is or how skilled the editor is.
It’s also possible for a broadcaster who is slightly intellectually deficient but has a calculating brain to regard the fan channel as a delicious, unpaid labor force.
It’s a matter of choice, not obligation.
There’s nothing I could say if Yu Sieun continued to ignore the fan YouTube channel.
I would have tried to find another job if I hadn’t heard from her by the time the period I had set had passed, but I wouldn’t have had any feelings about that matter.
I would have run the fan channel as a side job and hobby, even if it wasn’t my main job.
But in what Yu Sieun was saying, the content that she was sorry for contacting me late was repeatedly mixed in.
That was why I brought up the story of the cold.
I thought it was because the timing of my feeling under the weather overlapped with the fact that the email had been ignored for 8 days.
I thought it was a high-level act of perception.
I thought it was a great way to prove that you can get to know other people even if you only have social life in your room if you combine years of experience.
However, even after hearing those words, Yu Sieun didn’t have the expression of someone who had clearly eliminated what had been bothering them.
Rather, she seemed to be thinking about something seriously.
‘Hmm…?’
My perception didn’t reach to the reason for that.
It means I don’t know.
Perhaps being able to empathize with the fact that another person had a cold is a capability of someone who possesses Yu Sieun-level femininity.
Of course, I didn’t want this story to progress any further. Whether it’s empathy or whatever.
The cold and… magic.
Both are definitely not embarrassing things, but there was an aspect that was embarrassing to talk about in detail with other people.
I turned Yu Sieun’s thoughts, which seemed to be starting to flow in another direction, back to the topic of work that we had been talking about again.
Although I accepted Yu Sieun’s opinion on the employment conditions, the agreement was not completely over yet.
We had to decide on the conditions for sure.
The channel revenue distribution that Yu Sieun had told me was 50/50.
If I were to receive channel revenue distribution and also receive a per-video fee, Yu Sieun’s burden would be too great, and if I were to only receive channel revenue distribution, I would have to go into austerity now, even if I didn’t have to later.
I told Yu Sieun that if I were to receive the channel’s revenue, I would have to eliminate or lower the per-video fee, and Yu Sieun nodded.
We ended the final agreement by coming up with a compromise on this part.
We would distribute the channel revenue 50/50, but if the distributed revenue was lower than the amount calculated by paying ₩10,000 per minute of the videos uploaded in a month, Yu Sieun would fill that amount with money.
Of course, it was still a overwhelmingly good condition for me.
I didn’t know it before, but now I could vaguely understand why Yu Sieun had offered me the proposal to meet and talk directly.
It certainly feels strange for Yu Sieun’s personal stories to be exchanged in messages or phone calls. Both for the listener and for the speaker.
With the choice of an appropriate method, the problem of salary has now been successfully resolved.
But there were still things to talk about.
What has to be decided when an editor and a broadcaster meet to start a YouTube channel doesn’t end with just the employment conditions.
Of course, the wage is the most important agreement as an employer and employee, but what the channel needs to discuss most importantly is the process by which the video is made.
‘Hmm…?’
I had organized my thoughts on the employment conditions and the video work side before coming to this dinner.
I had erased the content on the employment conditions from my head after hearing Yu Sieun’s words, but I had to tell Yu Sieun about the content on the video work side and then discuss it together.
The process by which broadcasters and editors create videos is not set as a standard.
There should be as many ways as there are relationships between people.
Since I haven’t worked with all the broadcasters, I naturally don’t know the entire process of video work.
But I can judge which way it’s good to proceed from experience. I could also weed out what I thought Yu Sieun and I could do.
First, I introduced Yu Sieun to the two formats that we could take when creating videos.
The criteria by which the two formats were divided was simple.
It varies depending on whether Yu Sieun’s role would be actively exercised or passively exercised.
If Yu Sieun chooses to actively intervene in video production, I was thinking of making the parts that Yu Sieun designated into videos and uploading them to the channel.
If it’s the opposite, the operation method of the fan channel would be brought over as is.
After hearing my explanation about this, Yu Sieun began to ask questions.
“Um…. So, with the first method, I would pick out the parts that I think would be good to make into a YouTube video while broadcasting and pass them on to the editor-nim?”
“Yes. That’s right. You can also tell me in detail what the atmosphere of the video will be like, or the content, and I can match it to your style.”
“On the other hand, the second method is similar to what it is now. It’s because the editor-nim directly picks out the video material while watching the broadcast.”
“That’s right.”
“……Then I have a question, if you proceed with the work in the second way, doesn’t that mean that the editor-nim has to watch all of my broadcasts? To pick out the editing points yourself.”
“I guess… that’s right?”
When I affirmed it, EunSiyu poured out words even more quickly.
“…Aren’t you having a hard time? I looked up a little about video editing before coming here, and I saw a post saying that it takes a huge amount of time if you work in that way.”
“Ah. And I read a comment that was left on the video of the internal war that you edited.
It was one of the comments that got a lot of recommendations, and it said that at this speed, you would have stayed up all night since the broadcast ended.”
“Did you really do that?”
Is this an interrogation…?
A feeling like I was being scolded washed over me.
EunSiyu can’t punish me, but I felt like I had to make some kind of excuse now.
“……I did, but you don’t have to worry. I’ve lived like that often.”
It didn’t work.
“I do some late-night living too, so it’s a little hard for me to say these words, but it’s not good for your health. You might feel like you’re okay right now, but it can put a strain on you physically later.
It might be a little strange for me to say this, but… I think it would be good if you cared about it.”
“……I’ll consider a positive review.”
When I said this, Yu Sieun’s energy suddenly changed to that of a person with a firm intention.
“I think the video work process should be closer to what you told me in the beginning.
If you watch all the broadcasts and do all the editing, I think you won’t be able to do other activities and your sleep time will be threatened…….”
“But I don’t want a form where I take away the editor-nim’s authority in video editing.
How about we discuss what’s best together, among what I pick and what you sometimes pick?”
I’m worried that you’re working too much.
I’ll be the one to pick out the editing points since I’m the one broadcasting.
But I don’t want to completely take away your authority, so if you have any opinions, let’s pick together and discuss it.
Yu Sieun’s proposal was close to ideal.
That’s why I thought that just nodding my head as it is now wasn’t a good direction.
There was a need to bring in reality a little.
“……That’s definitely the best if it can be done well. But it’s a very difficult method.
If the authority to decide is divided into two, energy is consumed to unite our intentions, and if they don’t unite, that’s a big problem.”
When I took out reality, Yu Sieun fell into thought again.
“Then… let’s do it in the first way.
I’ll pick out the editing points and give them to you, and you can make your judgment within that.
But I will never insist only on my opinion when you strongly express your opinion.”
“I understand. Then there are things I need to tell you in that part….”
After the method was decided, I began to do a crash course to assign the role of broadcaster to EunSiyu in the decided work method.
An explanation of the process until the video is uploaded.
How to deliver the editing points to me.
An agreement on how inspection and feedback will be done after the video is made.
After finishing conveying information and coordinating work, I conveyed the final message that she shouldn’t pay too much attention to making video angles for YouTube.
There are times when novice broadcasters who hear about editing points for the first time go in the wrong direction.
I thought Yu Sieun was a talented person, so she wouldn’t do that, but… originally, Yu Sieun would be starting YouTube on her own after growing to a larger scale as a broadcaster, so there was no harm in saying it.
“Um… you mean I shouldn’t be conscious of video angles while broadcasting?”
I added a little explanation.
“Of course, there are people who have to do that, but I think that being conscious of those parts would rather be poison for the broadcast of the person EunSiyu that I saw.
You have more than enough even if you don’t force yourself to make angles for the video.”
“Fish with only bones need to be carefully boned and boned out to be edible, but people eat all of the cow deliciously without throwing anything away, right?”
Yu Sieun smiled and nodded, as if she understood.
With that, all the stories were over.
The bowls were empty too.
Yu Sieun and I packed our things and stood up together from our seats.
