Bai Yuliang’s words utterly stunned everyone present. No one had imagined that the usually gentle man possessed such a sharp, assertive side.

While his statements were logical and well-reasoned, they inevitably stung the hearts of some Sakura students with stronger pride.

“Hey, Yuliang-kun, no matter what, Yuto-kun only said some unpleasant things. Beating him up like this is too much.”

“Exactly! No matter what, you shouldn’t lay hands on a classmate. That’s barbaric!”

“Yuto-kun was already ‘blown up’ for two hours yesterday. Aren’t you afraid you’ll kill him?”

“How about this? Apologize to Yuto-kun, and we’ll let it go.”

For a moment, Bai Yuliang suspected he had misheard. But as he regained his senses, he could no longer suppress his laughter.

“Apologize? Hehehe… hehe hahahaha… Hahahahahahaha!”

Under the gaze of everyone, he clutched his stomach with one hand and covered half his face with the other, laughing uncontrollably.

His laughter was strange, comical, and utterly deranged.

No one understood why Bai Yuliang had suddenly burst into laughter, only sensing that the sound contained a multitude of emotions.

But remorse was notably absent.

After a long moment, Bai Yuliang stopped laughing. He lowered the hand that covered his face, and as his bangs swayed, a pair of dark, profound eyes met theirs with a terrifyingly calm gaze.

No one could decipher Bai Yuliang’s expression, yet that gaze seemed to hide a mysterious power. Every person who met his eyes felt an inexplicable shiver of dread.

“Fine, I’ll apologize,” Bai Yuliang declared, astonishing everyone.

But then, under their collective gaze, he savagely stomped on Yuto Kirigaya, who lay unconscious on the ground.

“Ahhhhhh————”

Someone on the ground let out an agonizing shriek.

Bai Yuliang had deliberately stomped on the very spot that had endured two hours of torment just yesterday.

“*Red Bean Paste, I’m sorry, Yuto-san*, ” Bai Yuliang said in terribly accented Sakura-state language to the prone Yuto Kirigaya. “I forgot to wake you up.”

Newly awakened, Yuto Kirigaya stared at the smiling face mere inches away, his own face turning ghost-white with terror.

“Hey! Stop that!”

“Don’t hit him anymore!”

“What kind of apology is that!”

“Yuliang-kun, if you don’t want to apologize, just say so!”

Several classmates who usually had a good relationship with Yuto Kirigaya quickly rushed forward, pulling Yuto away and indignantly scolding Bai Yuliang.

“Bai Yuliang, our common enemy right now should be Teacher Matsui. Don’t you think it’s excessive to violently attack a classmate and leave Yuto-kun in this state just over a few words?”

“Exactly, your behavior is practically bullying!”

Just as they were busy berating Bai Yuliang, a sound plunged the entire classroom into momentary silence.

–Beep beep…

With a notification sound, Teacher Matsui finally began today’s death assignment.

[Hatred is humanity’s eternal theme. The history of humankind is a history written in hatred.]

[People can hate foreign races, hate traitors, hate enemies, even hate their own kind, hate everything!]

[From the savagery of the Stone Age, to the massacres of the Gunpowder Age, and the cataclysms of the Atomic Age, this evil yet beautiful species, humanity, has so steadfastly carried hatred through to the end!]

Teacher Matsui started with a rather literary opening.

[Gentlemen, I… love hatred!]

[I very much love hatred!]

[I love hatred the most!!! (Excited 🤩)]

[I love boring, interesting, ordinary, crazy, exaggerated, perverted hatred!]

[I love hating friends, hating relatives, hating teachers, hating seniors, hating juniors, hating colleagues, hating those I know nothing about… all such hatred that occurs in this world!]

[I love watching those filled with hatred take up weapons to retaliate against others, to slaughter others, to violate others…]

[I love to see them disembowel with knives, pierce flesh with bullets, incinerate corpses with fire, and destroy lives with viruses…]

[Hatred is both an art and a rigorous discipline!]

As they read the long string of messages Teacher Matsui sent in the class chat, everyone found it utterly bizarre, unable to comprehend why he was saying such things.

Previously, Teacher Matsui’s assignments were always quite direct. However, many soon realized that perhaps today’s events had somehow affected Teacher Matsui.

[Today, I shall once again fulfill my duty as a teacher and impart the art of hatred… to you all!]

An ominous premonition instantly gripped everyone.

[Now commencing special assignment: `Death Vote`!]

[Students, please select one classmate you hate the most in the class. The classmate with the most votes will be executed by slow slicing! Abstention is not permitted, or you will also be executed!]

[Voting will begin in one minute and last for one minute.]

Upon seeing the assignment in the class chat, everyone’s breathing stopped for a moment, then quickly exploded into chaos.

“What the hell! Isn’t this asking us to kill someone?”

“Completely insane! How can this be allowed…”

“I can’t do it… I don’t want to kill anyone…”

“God, save us…”

The rules of this `Death Vote` were simple and clear: everyone had to vote for one person to be executed.

Though simple, it was exceptionally cruel. A single choice meant the complete disappearance of a vibrant life.

There was no difference between this and personally killing someone.

Everyone temporarily forgot about Bai Yuliang and quickly looked at their classmates, their minds racing through memories, trying to recall if they had offended anyone over the years.

“Kazuma-kun, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have owed you money for so long. I’ll pay you back right now!”

“It’s fine, I don’t mind at all. It’s just ten thousand yen.”

“Ten thousand? Wasn’t it one thousand?”

“I remember it being ten thousand.”

“You… fine, I’ll give it to you! Just don’t vote for me, okay?”

“How could I vote for you? You’re my brother, closer than blood!”

“Good, then let’s promise not to vote for each other.”

“Emi-chan, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have stolen your boyfriend. I’ll dump him right away. Can you forgive me?”

“Ha? Forgive you? He was a senior I chased for three years! I even gave him my first time. Now you want me to forgive you… In your dreams!”

“Why are you being so petty? It’s just a man! Aren’t there plenty of men like that? Besides, do you think I didn’t give anything?”

“You’re not a virgin!”

“I am at the back!”

“That’s meaningless! Anyway, you’re the b*tch I hate the most. You and that dog of a man can be tied together forever!”

“Why is your heart as small as that dead guy’s—! You lost your man because you’re incompetent, didn’t you? Anyway, I’m dumping that man right now. If you dare vote for me, just wait!”

Such words began to emerge one after another. Everyone started chattering, trying to excuse their past sins as if facing a divine wrath about to descend from God.

“Everyone… why don’t we try voting for ourselves?” Nishionji Mitsuki, the class president, suddenly raised her hand and suggested. “If the votes are tied, there won’t be a highest vote… right?”

“Oh… that’s an option,” many realized with a sudden understanding.

[Teacher Matsui: As expected of the class president, you haven’t disappointed me. Indeed, if you all vote for yourselves, there will be no highest vote, and no one will be executed. (Smile 🙂)]

[However, I believe you will not disappoint me, your teacher.]

Upon seeing Teacher Matsui’s new message, cheers erupted in the classroom. Everyone had finally found a path of bright hope.

[The `Death Vote` begins now. Let me see the beautiful flowers of your hatred!!!]

With this message, a real-name voting window appeared in the class chat. Successfully voting simply required entering the name of the classmate one hated the most.

“Everyone, don’t do anything rash!” Nishionji Mitsuki quickly said upon seeing this. “We should collect everyone’s phones, and then one person…”

–Beep beep…

To everyone’s surprise, Nishionji Mitsuki’s beautiful plan was mercilessly shattered the second it came into existence.

A line of bloody text appeared in the voting window.

[Yuto Kirigaya cast one vote for Bai Yuliang!]
