Chapter 3: The Divination of Doom

The moment this assignment was revealed, a stunned silence fell over the classroom for a second. Immediately after, Asakura Mirai rose in a furious outburst.

“What the hell! Only 40,000 yen to make me break up with my girlfriend? What kind of joke is this?! I’ve spent God knows how much on her already. We were finally going to go all the way this weekend, and now you want me to break up?! If I did that, I’d have to be completely out of my mind!”

Asakura Mirai angrily messaged, “–Teacher Matsui, there’s absolutely no way I’m breaking up with my girlfriend! Learning doesn’t forbid dating, does it? My decision to date a girlfriend is entirely my freedom!”

Teacher Matsui replied, “–Asakura, I’m doing this for your own good. Early romance will affect your studies!”

“So what if it affects them! I’m a seeded player with a chance at Koshien. Studies? What a load of crap!”

Teacher Matsui responded, “–There will be consequences for not completing the assignment. I hope you don’t regret it!”

“Damn it! You’re just jealous that I found a ballet-dancing girlfriend who knows a lot of positions, aren’t you!” Asakura Mirai cursed, his face twisted in rage. “I’m not breaking up, you bastard Matsui Ichiro! If you’ve got the guts, just kill me!”

“Alright, alright, this assignment really isn’t suitable.”

“Perhaps the teacher was just joking? But it feels like they went a bit too far…”

“Mirai-kun, don’t be so impulsive. Maybe the teacher just wanted an opportunity to remind you to focus on your studies.”

The students offered words of comfort, and it took Asakura Mirai a while before he finally sat down. Still, he couldn’t get over his anger and continued to argue with Teacher Matsui.

Teacher Matsui seemed to have grown angry; his avatar turned gray, and he offered no further response.

Bai Yuliang shrugged helplessly, thinking to himself that Teacher Matsui truly had good intentions, resorting to such methods just to make his students study diligently.

However, it was also true that being rich and handsome had its perks. Despite being high school students, they could already enjoy intimacy with women on the weekends.

He might as well give Asakura Mirai a free fortune-telling session to see if he could successfully ‘get to first base’.

Bai Yuliang glanced at the clock on the wall, then calculated with his fingers, facing the still-cursing Asakura Mirai.

“What are you doing?” Nishionji Mitsuki, sitting in front, suddenly turned and asked.

“Nothing, just… wait?” Bai Yuliang’s expression suddenly shifted. “There’s nothing?”

“Nothing what?”

“I can’t calculate it.”

“Can’t calculate what?”

“I can’t calculate that guy’s fortune for the weekend.” Bai Yuliang’s face gradually grew solemn. “That shouldn’t be… I should still be able to calculate something like this…”

“Are you divining?” Nishionji Mitsuki asked curiously. “I heard that some people in Shenzhou can do divination, somewhat similar to drawing omikuji at shrines. So, Yuliang, you can do this too.”

“I merely dabble a little.”

Bai Yuliang lowered his hand, pondered for a moment, and then fixed his gaze on Asakura Mirai’s face.

He hadn’t noticed before, but upon closer inspection, his expression changed drastically. The latter’s face was covered in a dark aura, clearly a sign of impending death.

He opened his mouth, wanting to inform the other party, but he didn’t know how to begin. How could he say it? Should he just walk up and tell him that his ‘Hall of Impression’ was dark, indicating a bloody disaster?

However, it should be his girlfriend who faced the bloody disaster, shouldn’t it? But…

Hesitating for a long time, Bai Yuliang still tentatively went over and whispered a few words to Asakura Mirai, only to be cursed at in return.

Asakura Mirai said something about only dying on a woman’s belly.

Bai Yuliang was utterly speechless. He made an excuse, saying it was just the result of his divination, and awkwardly returned to his seat.

‘Abandon the urge to help, respect others’ fate.’

And it was precisely this choice that determined Asakura Mirai’s tragic fate thereafter.
