Su Xinxin stood at the entrance, her gaze slowly sweeping across the entire space.

‘What are these?’ she wondered.

“Rock bands,” Xiao Ming said, peeking over her shoulder. “Uh… it’s the kind of music young people enjoy.”

“Oh,” Su Xinxin murmured, continuing her walk.

Her gaze drifted over the readers lounging on sofas, the equipment standing silently in the corners, and the abstract paintings adorning the walls—

Then she spotted a familiar figure.

By a window, a girl in a light blue plaid pleated skirt was looking down at her phone.

She wore a white shirt and an off-white cardigan, her bow tie neatly fastened at the collar. Her smooth, short hair was tucked behind her ear, revealing half of a fair cheek.

It was the same girl from earlier, standing before the bookshelves.

The girl who had been interested in medical books, who couldn’t reach the top shelf, and whom she had helped.

Su Xinxin’s steps faltered.

At that very moment, the girl looked up.

Their eyes met.

Both paused in surprise.

Then, the girl’s eyes curved into a smile, and she gave a gentle nod—a form of greeting. The gesture was natural, as if encountering a stranger with whom she’d had a brief interaction, a polite acknowledgment before they would each go their separate ways.
