The tactic of pricing products at â‚©990 instead of â‚©1,000 to make consumers feel like the price is cheaper is a well-known trick of the trade.
The change in the number of digits can have a considerable psychological effect on people.
So much so that merchants, who have been studying ways to exploit consumer psychology for millennia, use it as one of their main weapons.
‘Haa….’
The effect associated with this change in digits was also affecting me now.
Having just woken up and checked the number of subscribers on the EunSiyu channel with my phone, I had to take a deep breath to calm my momentary surprise.
The channel had surpassed 100,000 subscribers.
Of course, the two numbers 99,900 and 100,000 don’t have a big difference when looked at in absolute terms.
It was only about 100 more subscribers on top of a number approaching the late 90,000s.
But the meaning of these 100 people is quite significant.
100,000 subscribers.
In the case of YouTube, this was the threshold at which it became possible to purchase something like an award plaque called the Silver Play Button.
It was a metric used as a standard.
It was safe to say that the EunSiyu YouTube channel had truly crossed a threshold.
‘Oh….’
It was so moving that my heart felt all soft.
I even had the thought that I could capture the happiness I was feeling now and write a short story about it.
A title like “I Woke Up and Had 100,000 Subscribers” would probably do.
I had guessed that we would soon reach 100,000 subscribers by looking at the trend in subscriber growth. I had also talked to Yu Sieun about this.
But the feeling when that prediction came true was sweeter than I had thought.
It was like how knowing you’re going to get into the university you applied to and actually receiving the acceptance notification are completely different feelings.
I threw the phone onto the bed and moved to the bathroom to follow my morning routine.
It was because I thought that if I wanted to do what I had to do, it would be better to wash up first, even though I wanted to share my happiness with Yu Sieun right away by sending a message or calling her.
‘Hehe.’
When I went into the small bathroom and looked at the mirror right in front of me, I was able to find a pretty girl smiling brightly.
Yu Sieun and I had roughly talked about the plans after the LoL Team Tournament at the LoL Team Tournament after-party.
The content that we would soon reach 100,000 subscribers was also included in the topics we discussed.
During the low-noise conversation a few days ago, Yu Sieun and I, covered with the blanket, had even roughly decided on the content to proceed with in connection with reaching 100,000 subscribers.
A broadcast commemorating 100,000 subscribers.
The utilization of interest in the editor.
We were planning to proceed with a Q&A broadcast commemorating 100,000 subscribers, which would be able to capture both of these at once.
‘First, a message………?’
However, we hadn’t completely decided on the specific content for this.
Detailed content such as how to announce it on the broadcast and what method to proceed with had no different from a blank state where only the framework existed.
Today was the day the break that the broadcasters of Team Crinex had collectively declared after the LoL Team Tournament ended was over.
Yu Sieun would broadcast around the time she usually turned it on in the afternoon, and it would be a good time to announce the 100,000 Q&A content at that time.
It meant we had to finish the consultation before turning on today’s broadcast.
I sat in front of the computer and wrote a message to Yu Sieun containing the content that the channel had reached 100,000 subscribers, and my opinion that we should talk about the Q&A’s method of proceeding before turning on today’s broadcast.
When the unread mark next to the message disappeared, Yu Sieun, instead of writing a reply to the message, directly called me.
It wasn’t a difficult thing, so it didn’t take long to come up with a detailed plan after sharing words of celebration together.
The broadcast of the LoL Team Tournament winning ADC, which was being turned on for the first time in a while, had to welcome a swarm of viewers gathering like bees.
As it happened, Yu Sieun was in a state where she had prepared honey with a good flavor, which is so-called a story-telling broadcast, to tell the stories that had piled up while the finals and the after-party had proceeded.
[Um… then, shall we talk for a bit longer today? I also have to look back at the finals. Actually, we also went on an after-party during our break.]
After finishing checking the volume and greeting, Yu Sieun conveyed the topic of the broadcast that would follow to the viewers in one sentence.
[First, shall we watch the finals montage? Our lovely editor made it because they had time to spare during the break.]
Yu Sieun first offered the viewers an appetizer.
It was a method where they watched the short video I had made and sent yesterday straight through, and then told stories with each scene as the topic.
[And this was really awesome at the end of set 5, right? I even got praised by the editor-nim for looking like a pro ADC. I’ll ban anyone who says I was just throwing and got lucky, so go watch the replay of the finals interview!]
The atmosphere of the broadcast was harmonious until the point when they were sharing stories about the flying Xayah, the last moment of set 5.
It’s not like there are any customers at an expensive, high-class restaurant where a set course comes out who get angry because they didn’t put out the most delicious main dish from the beginning.
[Well then, and after winning like that… we even had an after-party!]
Yu Sieun seemed to be getting ready to slowly tell the story of the after-party.
Viewers surprisingly like hearing stories about streamers getting together and hanging out without turning on their broadcasts.
I don’t know about other people’s cases, but the need I had as a viewer for story-telling broadcasts was the feeling of listening to a behind-the-scenes story.
I would have to say it’s not a bad feeling to hear fragmentary stories about things you don’t know.
If streamers you knew spent time together like friends gathering and hanging out, you would somehow get a heart-warming feeling too.
However, this was the first time in my life that I couldn’t hear the story of the after-party from a completely viewer’s perspective.
[Well then, the after-party started with Crinex-nim, after we won the finals, in the group chat…]
That’s why I only had the thought of wondering how Yu Sieun would tell the story, but the story started from a point I didn’t know either.
The empathy that started from curiosity didn’t stop even after the content of the story entered the parts I knew.
When she met me at the station.
The story of traveling by train and arriving at the restaurant, and the first impressions when she met the team members whose faces she didn’t know.
The story of drinking at the second round after the dinner, and moving rooms and the three of us sleeping in one room.
As it was proceeding on the broadcast, Yu Sieun’s story didn’t include detailed content.
Things like what stories they had talked about were only touched on with a few vague topics, and in the case of the first impressions of the team members, it stopped at vague descriptions, such as ‘Hayan is even prettier than you guys imagine.’
But it was a fun story even for me to listen to.
I had thought that it wouldn’t be very fun to listen to since it was a story I knew, but gradually learning about what Yu Sieun had been thinking in the moments that were in my memories was a pretty good feeling.
It felt like this even for me, who was the person who had participated, so the viewers were obviously listening well without anyone saying they were bored.
At the end of the story, the announcement about the Q&A broadcast that Yu Sieun and I had talked about earlier was made.
[And there was this among the things we talked about with the editor-nim at night. Do you all know that our YouTube has gotten 100,000 subscribers?]
大大大大大
-Congratulations
-Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers!!
[Thank you for the congratulations. It’s not all thanks to you guys, but it’s mostly thanks to you guys! Hehe.]
[So, this time, we’re planning to proceed with a Q&A broadcast in commemoration of getting 100,000 subscribers.
If you write down the things you’re curious about, not only about me but also about the YouTube channel, I think I’ll read them on the broadcast sometime next week and answer them. I’m going to do it with the editor-nim.
wow
Wow lol
Where do I write the questions?
[You’re looking forward to it, right? The editor-nim said she would upload the detailed announcement, so please check the YouTube community! Well then, shall we go to ranked? The LoL Team Tournament is over, so I’ll really reach Grand Master now.]
Judging from the speed of the chat that had gone up in an instant, the viewers’ reaction seemed to be quite good.
I thought there wouldn’t be a problem proceeding as is.
After about three hours had passed and Yu Sieun’s broadcast ended, I uploaded the notice that I had written in advance while watching the broadcast to the YouTube channel community.
It was a notice that politely lengthened out the content of ‘If you write questions as comments on this post, I’ll read them and answer them when we proceed with the broadcast, so no weird questions allowed.’
‘Ugh….’
Since we would be able to proceed with the broadcast only after the questions had piled up to some extent and there was enough for about an hour or two of talking, it was now time to spend waiting.
