Chapter 5: A Bowl of Hot Soup

According to the plot the system had just given her, it was now April.

That meant less than two months had passed since the term started at Fengcheng Academy, and the weather was still chilly.

Both girls were dressed warmly, so the shove and the kick hadn’t really hurt.

Gu Qianqian and Lin Feiyu were already second-years. After a full year, the female lead’s charm and halo had swayed quite a few people.

Some found her obedient and easy on the eyes, like their homeroom teacher, Wang Feng.

Others couldn’t stand the sight of her and wanted to make her life hell, like Gu Qianqian’s little gang.

Gu Qianqian, Yu Ni, and Quan Anrong.

The ‘fake sisters’ Lin Feiyu had just referred to were exactly these two stylish, arrogant girls in front of her, Yu Ni and Quan Anrong.

From the original body’s memories, whenever they snatched Lin Feiyu’s things, Yu Ni and Quan Anrong always helped themselves first.

Only whatever they didn’t want or disliked fell to Gu Qianqian.

Even though all three of them bullied Lin Feiyu, this pecking order said everything about their status within the trio.

After all, Gu Qianqian had no family background to speak of.

And…

Judging from the old memories, Yu Ni and Quan Anrong, those two bitches, were somewhat jealous of Gu Qianqian’s face.

The original host herself had never noticed, but now that Gu Qianqian had crossed over and gone through her memories, she saw it with the clarity of an outsider.

The reason Yu Ni and Quan Anrong got along so well with each other yet treated her coldly was simple: her appearance was just as enviable as Lin Feiyu’s.

If Lin Feiyu hadn’t been drawing most of the fire, Gu Qianqian would have been the one bullied instead.

Yu Ni and Quan Anrong had even tried to move into her dormitory a few times, claiming it was wasteful for one person to occupy a six-bed room.

They wanted to hide contraband there, even sneak boyfriends in for parties. Wouldn’t Gu Qianqian’s half-empty dorm be perfect?

Luckily, the original host hadn’t been that foolish and never agreed. Twice she had escaped by relying on dorm inspections.

But because of that, Yu Ni and Quan Anrong never had a nice word for her.

They didn’t treat her as roughly as they treated Lin Feiyu, but they were far from being her sisters.

If they had been, she wouldn’t have just been kicked.

Right now, Yu Ni and Quan Anrong took the seats of the two who had just been shoved away, sat down, and started eating without another word.

‘Pfft! Why does this thorn flower bud taste like crap?’

‘This shithole cafeteria. Did they sell us last night’s leftovers?’

‘And this moss stone jelly is all sticky. It looks disgusting!’

As they ate, they poked at the dishes with their chopsticks and flicked whatever they disliked at Lin Feiyu, occasionally splattering Gu Qianqian as well.

‘What the hell is this fire-stir-fried demon meat offal? It’s not even cooked, can’t chew it at all! Lin Feiyu, what junk did you order? Order it again!’

‘Gu Qianqian, go use her card and buy all of it again. Also tell those two aunties at the counter that the food is terrible. I’m lodging a complaint!’

Quite a few students nearby had already turned their heads.

Yu Ni and Quan Anrong, dressed as edgy hot girls, were a bit well known on campus. One of their families dealt in doomsday-era building materials; the other had a small post in the Fengcheng city government. Neither was powerful, but both had a little backing.

Given Gu Qianqian’s background, she simply couldn’t afford to offend them.

As for the heroine Lin Feiyu, in her past life she had never been able to resist them either. She could only serve as their walking wallet, their punching bag, and their vent for anger.

But in Lin Feiyu’s eyes, Gu Qianqian, who stayed chummy with these two girls, was no better.

Even if Gu Qianqian was the least harmful to her among the trio, in Lin Feiyu’s eyes it made no difference.

The way she was looking at Yu Ni and Quan Anrong right now was as if she were looking at a pair of corpses, already pondering how best to torment them.

Gu Qianqian shuddered, then wore a miserable face, because her own situation was not much better.

But since she was no longer the original Gu Qianqian, the suffering the original had silently endured was now stirring an unfamiliar rage in her heart.

These two daughters of bitches. Relying on their noble backgrounds and the heroine’s weak, passive way of handling things, they just did whatever they pleased?

‘You two aren’t Lin Feiyu, unreachable behind the heroine’s halo, so what the hell should I be afraid of?’

As she fumed over this, Lin Feiyu walked over to her, acting modest and obedient, and handed her meal card over.

In a soft, weak voice, she said, ‘I’m sorry… O-order whatever you want. There’s money on the card, so don’t worry.’

The damage a little white flower heroine could deal was staggering. Standing right next to her, Gu Qianqian suddenly felt her breath catch and her cheeks flush.

She knew Lin Feiyu was only pretending to be weak, but that delicate appearance made her want to scoop her up in her arms and toy with her until she cried.

Of course, given their obvious difference in height, the one getting scooped up and toyed with would more likely be herself.

Yu Ni and Quan Anrong reacted with even more venom.

‘Screw your apologies, Lin Feiyu! Stop putting on that weak act, it makes me sick!’

‘Yeah, don’t worry? I’m not worried about jack shit!’

‘If this card’s got no money on it, I’ll shave your head today and sell it!’

‘Fine, fine.’

Lin Feiyu sneered inwardly. She’d originally planned to torture Gu Qianqian, the little shrimp, tonight. It seemed she should take care of these two mouth-breathers first.

Meanwhile, Gu Qianqian, frozen in place with the card in hand, immediately received Yu Ni’s verbal assault.

‘Gu Qianqian, you deaf or what? Move your ass and order the food!’

‘Still standing there like an idiot, waiting for me to teach you?’

Gu Qianqian laughed in exasperation.

Forget Lin Feiyu, the heroine who had been reborn for revenge; Gu Qianqian had nothing on her for now and couldn’t afford to provoke her.

But who did these two think they were? They treated her badly on ordinary days, and now they were ordering her around like a servant in front of the whole cafeteria?

Freshly transmigrated and already full of frustration from both that damn system and the heroine, Gu Qianqian threw caution to the wind.

She knew she was probably letting her emotions run wild. Maybe she’d lost all sense of rank and status.

But so what?

If the heroine wanted revenge, fine. That was the original Gu Qianqian’s debt to pay.

What right did these two have to walk all over her?

‘f*ck your grandmother!’

Lin Feiyu, watching coldly from the side, sneered with amusement: a real flock of fair-weather sisters. Gu Qianqian, you’re pitiful, but also detestable, playing loyal dog to these people.

Why hadn’t she noticed in her past life that the short girl who bullied her ranked so low in the gang?

But recalling that this girl had indeed bullied her, Lin Feiyu only felt she deserved what she was getting.

This was the price for daring to bully her!

However, Lin Feiyu was utterly shocked to see Gu Qianqian return from ordering carrying a bowl of soup.

Seeing it, Yu Ni could not hold her tongue. ‘Gu Qianqian, do you not understand human speech, or did a monster chew on your brain?’

‘Did I ask you to order soup? Don’t you know that if I drink too much water, I’ll be running to the bathroom all afternoon during the field trip? Are you doing this on… AHHHHHH!!!’

The next sound was a miserable double scream.

‘AHHHHHH!!!!’

Lin Feiyu watched in disbelief as hot soup dripped over Yu Ni’s and Quan Anrong’s faces. Both of them were writhing and shrieking on the floor, clutching their bright red, scalded faces, thrashing like two worms.

The commotion and screams made everyone around turn. In an instant, all eyes in the cafeteria were on them.

Lin Feiyu’s eyes flew wide, and she felt her brain go blank.

Had this been part of her past life’s memory?

She looked at the culprit. The little shorty smiled at her and raised a V sign, as if the two girls rolling on the ground and cursing their heads off had nothing to do with her at all.

The corner of Lin Feiyu’s mouth twitched. For the first time since her rebirth, she felt the story slipping out of her grasp.
