Join the ServerLin Feiyu’s tone was harsh, but when Gu Qianqian still couldn’t climb out the window after fumbling for ages, she grabbed her by the collar and hauled her out.
‘So stupid, this little thing.’
‘Short arms, short legs, and a brain that doesn’t work either. It never occurred to her to use the wooden chair beside her as a step.’
Looking at Gu Qianqian, who had landed on the ground and looked embarrassed, Lin Feiyu suddenly felt something was odd.
‘This little creature’s strength is low. No, low isn’t the right word. She’s no different from an idiot.’
‘How did she survive in her previous life?’
‘And survive until the moment I kicked her to death?’
“Is it too late for me to regret this now?”
“Huh?”
‘What is the female lead saying out of nowhere?’
‘Regret?’
‘Regret what? Not killing me?’
Lin Feiyu pointed at the window, then at her. “With you like this, I really don’t have confidence I can get you out safely.”
Gu Qianqian: (ó﹏ò。)
‘It’s not my fault this body is weak!’
“B-B-Big… Big Sister, y-you… you said you’d protect me… you won’t, won’t go back on it, right?!”
In the distance, Zhao Zirou had already raised her giant hammer. Her whole body erupted with overwhelming flames as she charged into the monster horde, killing wildly, like a goddess of fire…
Gu Qianqian swallowed.
Such a terrifying and unimaginable scene was happening right in front of her. Gu Qianqian had no confidence she could deal with those monsters.
The monsters Zhao Zirou handled casually could just as casually crush her.
Gu Qianqian’s pitiful, frightened look annoyed Lin Feiyu, but she still snorted coldly. “Stay close to me.”
“Oh.”
At a time like this, Gu Qianqian didn’t dare let her attention wander.
She could only desperately follow the heroine.
Obstacles Lin Feiyu could flip over casually took Gu Qianqian forever to scramble over. In the end, Lin Feiyu couldn’t stand it anymore and grabbed her up to carry her across.
Although she already had 75 favor points, under such tension Gu Qianqian didn’t dare look at the system interface.
It would distract her.
And she was too nervous to tell which items were useful and which weren’t.
She might as well just hold on to the speed card she had exchanged earlier.
When running for your life, nothing else mattered. As long as she was fast enough.
Along the way, Gu Qianqian finally saw the heroine’s current strength for herself.
A demon frog jumped out of the darkness and spat a tongue covered in barbs at them.
Before Gu Qianqian could even see what it was, Lin Feiyu had already kicked the demon frog apart.
Truly kicked it apart, as easily as kicking a rotten apple by the roadside.
It even burst with juice.
Looking at that mess of flesh and blood, Gu Qianqian, who had only ever handled dead demon frogs, nearly threw up.
Right after that, a disgusting bug covered in fleshy tumors suddenly burst out of the ground. The ground of this base had been reinforced, harder than the concrete from her previous life.
But in front of this bug, it was as soft and crumbly as bread.
Its multiple sharp mouthparts opened. Its mouth was deep as an abyss, able to swallow steel and rock and grind them to pieces.
The Steel Jaw Worm.
A powerful monster that posed a huge threat to human buildings. Even in battle, one bite from its sharp mouthparts meant death or injury.
No exceptions.
The tumors covering the Steel Jaw Worm’s body were actually the closed openings of many smaller mouthparts. Once it attacked, those tumors all over its body would open, turning it into a hedgehog.
With bare hands, there was no way to fight it.
While Gu Qianqian was still flipping through the novice alchemist knowledge in her head, Lin Feiyu had already snapped off a water pipe.
Seeing how vicious she looked, Gu Qianqian was scared silly.
‘If that were used on me, I’d instantly become a detachable Gundam.’
The moment the Steel Jaw Worm prepared to attack, Lin Feiyu moved at a speed Gu Qianqian couldn’t follow and shoved the water pipe into its soft body.
With a squelch, Lin Feiyu yanked the pipe upward.
The entire Steel Jaw Worm convulsed in pain, its soft torso going rigid. It angrily tried to turn and bite Lin Feiyu, but the heroine kicked it flying and sliced its belly open.
Its organs spilled everywhere, along with the rocks it had just crushed and swallowed.
It twisted in agony, clearly not going to survive. Gu Qianqian looked at Lin Feiyu with both awe and admiration.
Noticing her gaze, Lin Feiyu’s lips curved slightly, but her words were as cold as ever.
“What are you standing there for? Move. Do you want me to carry you?”
‘She’s pretty and strong. Too bad she has a mouth.’
Gu Qianqian sighed and kept following.
The two were heading toward the main building, but not toward Zhao Zirou’s main battlefield. They were going around the other side.
There were far fewer monsters here. Most of the rest had been drawn to Zhao Zirou’s side.
Gu Qianqian looked back at the dormitory building. In the darkness, a flock of giant birds, like crows and eagles, had surrounded the sky above it.
More than twenty Gray Infant Angels shrieked and dove at the windows, extending sharp claws, trying to grab snacks.
Screams for help and shrieks of terror rose from inside.
Xu Ming and the others guarding below could only fight back with long-range weapons like mana guns, but their effect in the dark was limited.
More and more flying monsters caught the scent of blood and flew into the base from outside, joining the battle and causing no small trouble for Zhao Zirou and the others.
Gu Qianqian was terrified by the sight. Thank goodness she had already left the dormitory building; otherwise she would have become candy for the monsters.
Even now, Xu Ming and the others couldn’t kill all the monsters. No matter how they shouted, they couldn’t stop students from fleeing the dormitory building.
‘Phew. Good, good. I’ve already left the dormitory and latched onto the heroine’s thigh.’
Lin Feiyu seemed to see the thought behind her expression and sneered. “Don’t celebrate too early.”
‘Huh?’
At this point, Gu Qianqian couldn’t remember the plot she had read before. She had long been scared forgetful. At the heroine’s reminder, she instinctively looked toward the dormitory building.
Rumble!
The ground shook violently, as if there really was an earthquake!
Then a world-shaking noise came from the dormitory building. A terrifying giant Steel Jaw Worm burst straight out of the earth!
It opened its huge mouthparts and swallowed the dormitory building layer by layer amid thunderous rumbling. Finally it broke through the roof, splitting the building in two like a giant club.
Broken stone and rubble flew. Screams, wails, and cries for help, along with the soil and stone swallowed by the Steel Jaw Worm, were crushed and swallowed by its sharp mouthparts.
The whole process took only an instant. There was no time to react. Many students had already become its meal.
Zhao Zirou and the others heard the commotion and turned back.
What they saw froze them all in place, then filled them with furious rage.
“O-Oh my god, th-that’s… a Steel Jaw Worm!?”
“How can there be such a huge Steel Jaw Worm? It’s at least over fifty meters!”
“No! No! Quick, go save the students!!”
“Damn it!”
“Zirou! Go! I’ll hold this side!” Ran Yan shouted angrily, raising his shield.
Zhao Zirou didn’t hesitate. She immediately led people charging toward the dormitory building.
She was the fastest. Gu Qianqian saw it clearly in the darkness. As Zhao Zirou ran, her whole body ignited with intense flames, like a blazing fireball!
“Just die!!”
A powerful strike full of rage. The giant hammer in Zhao Zirou’s hand absorbed all the flames from her body and smashed down on the Steel Jaw Worm like the hammer of a fire god.
Boom!!!
Crash!!!
A huge energy burst released waves of flame. The Steel Jaw Worm’s body was cut clean in half by Zhao Zirou’s hammer.
Organs and blood, mixed with the soil, stone, and students’ severed limbs it had just swallowed, rained down. But Zhao Zirou looked toward the direction of Gu Qianqian’s dormitory with madness in her eyes.
At that moment, Zhao Zirou was frantic. She didn’t even care about the young masters and young ladies she was supposed to protect.
But before Zhao Zirou could go search, two more giant Steel Jaw Worms burst out of the ground. Though not at the dormitory building, they were still nearby.
Zhao Zirou’s face darkened. She raised her flame-burning hammer and charged at them.
At the same time, more and more monsters poured in from the direction of the main building.
Even at the base gate, outside the walls, more monsters caught the scent of blood and, unable to hold back their hunger, launched attacks.
On the walls by the gate, automatic firearms opened fire at once. The guards stationed there immediately fell into a bitter fight.
Looking at the two Steel Jaw Worms fighting Zhao Zirou like towering trees, and the dense swarm of monsters around them, Gu Qianqian’s hands and feet went cold. Her mind went blank.
Only now, experiencing it firsthand, did she finally understand fear and despair.
And ahead of Lin Feiyu, a strange monster wrapped in vines had appeared, blocking their path.
“Damn it, a Whisperer!”
In an instant, a sky full of vine spikes shot toward them like rain, accompanied by the roars of more monsters.
“Idiot, get down!!”
