Chapter 59: A Secret That Refuses to Stay Buried

“What would I have done?”

If that child had grown up safely, he would have taught them properly about such matters. Even if it felt a little awkward to explain.

“So from now on, if there’s anything you don’t know, ask me.”

Lost in that futile thought, Song Seol spoke. Hae-min didn’t bother to respond, and so he added, more firmly:

“Instead of picking up strange drugs somewhere.”

“…”

“And go through your heat properly.”

“…Yes.”

Hae-min answered half-heartedly. Only then did Song Seol pull back, removing his hand from Hae-min’s chest and rising to his feet.

He seemed to leave the bed. ‘Finally, I can rest,’ Hae-min thought, closing his eyes.

But the peace didn’t last even a moment. Song Seol soon returned and grabbed his shoulder, pulling him up.

“Drink this.”

“I’m not thirsty.”

“You still need to. It’ll help flush out what’s left of the drug.”

He forced a cup into his hand, just like before, insisting he drink.

‘At least this time, it’s water,’ Hae-min thought, looking down at the cup.

“Hurry.”

Urged again, Hae-min silently drank. The lukewarm water slid down his throat in steady gulps.

Song Seol watched his throat move, as if making sure he drank properly. It made Hae-min uneasy.

“I’ve finished.”

“Have another.”

“…Yes.”

Song Seol poured more, filling the cup to the brim. Hae-min obediently drank again, as told.

“I’m really done now.”

He set the cup down and tried to lie back, but something felt off.

The soreness, the lingering pain, that was expected. But why was he so… wet?

‘Don’t tell me…’

Stiffening, Hae-min forced his sluggish hand to move, reaching between his legs. As expected, he felt something sticky.

There was no way he wouldn’t recognize what it was.

The problem was, it wasn’t just the front. The back, too…

When he shifted slightly, something warm slid out between him, making his skin prickle.

“My lord… did you… finish inside me?”

“Yes.”

The calm answer fell like a stone.

Hae-min went blank.

If nothing else, he had believed that this must be avoided. Even if circumstances forced them together, that alone should never happen. Otherwise… he might bear a child again.

And repeat the same tragedy.

Yet it had happened anyway.

He hadn’t even been fully unconscious. The fact that he had lost himself to desire so easily made him feel utterly pathetic. Overcome with self-loathing, Hae-min buried his face into the bed.

“What’s wrong? Did you take something else?”

“…I really…”

“What?”

“I really hate… having manifested as an omega…”

It came out like a sigh.

“I wish I could have just lived as a normal person. Why did it have to be this…?”

“…Hmm.”

Song Seol let out a low sound. Having never been anything but an alpha, he could only half understand Hee-yul’s resentment.

“You hate it that much? Why?”

“There’s too much trouble. The scent, the heat… and… that’s why I tried to avoid this at all costs!”

Hee-yul struck the bed weakly with his fist. The gesture lacked strength, but the frustration behind it was clear.

“And I even mistook suppressants for stimulants… how can I be this stupid…?”

“…It’s not that bad. Anyone could make that mistake.”

Though he didn’t understand how it happened, Song Seol still tried to calm him.

“I went to such lengths to avoid it…”

His breathing grew heavier with anger. That made Song Seol curious.

“What lengths?”

“…”

“Go on. I won’t scold you.”

“…I exposed myself to the cold. I was trying to catch a chill.”

“…What? What does that have to do with anything?”

“If I were sick… even you wouldn’t touch me.”

What a strange reason.

“…So that was an act?”

Song Seol muttered, half incredulous.

Winter illness could be severe, even fatal. To bring it upon oneself…

“Did you hate it that much? Why?”

This time, he genuinely wanted to know.

Why did Moon Hee-yul despise it so much?

Omegas were often reluctant, but not to this extent.

“Why stop talking?”

Hee-yul still had his face buried, refusing to answer.

“Lift your head.”

“…”

“You’ve decided to be stubborn, I see.”

After a brief pause, Song Seol released his scent.

Like mist rising over a lake at dawn, it spread quietly, dense, suffocating.

“-Hng…”

Hee-yul’s body reacted instantly. Unable to withstand it, he lifted himself.

His pale eyes were glazed with moisture, confused, overwhelmed.

He didn’t even understand what was happening.

He knew so little, like a newborn in this world.

“It would have been easier for you as a normal person.”

But that was no longer an option.

“Now… tell me. What reason could make you hate it this much?”

The scent tightened around him, making it hard to breathe.

Still, Hee-yul said nothing.

“There’s a simple way to break someone.”

“…I don’t know.”

“Do what they hate most.”

Hee-yul flinched, he understood.

Song Seol reached out. Even as Hee-yul recoiled, there was nowhere to go.

The scent intensified.

“Ah…”

His thoughts dulled almost instantly.

Song Seol laid him down with ease.

Their difference had always made the outcome inevitable.

Hee-yul had barely learned to control himself. Song Seol had been this way since birth.

Leaning over him, he spoke softly:

“One more thing. The way to escape… is to give the answer.”

“…”

“It’s too late to stay silent. Did you think I wouldn’t notice you’re hiding something?”

In the dim light, Song Seol looked down at him.

Even in the darkness, those pale eyes stood out, dazed, unfocused, yet unmistakably beautiful.
