Chapter 68: What Are Your Plans Next, Miss Li Mo?

After a moment of silence, Meng Yingxing spoke up a bit stiffly, as if trying to change Li Mo’s mood.

“My plans? Perhaps my plans will sound absurd to you.”

Li Mo raised her eyes and looked straight at Meng Yingxing.

This time, her gaze was completely different from the sadness of before, it even seemed to carry some kind of obsession.

“Benefactor, do you believe in reincarnation?”
Hearing this, Meng Yingxing and Xiu Qingcheng were both startled.

“Reincarnation?”

Meng Yingxing murmured in repetition.
‘Could such a thing really exist?’

He was asking Li Mo, and also asking Xiu Qingcheng.

Xiu Qingcheng replied to Meng Yingxing with a look of utter confusion:

‘I don’t know either.’

Having been a sword in the Jintian Nine Prefectures for so long, this was the first time Xiu Qingcheng had heard of the concept of reincarnation.

“Of course it exists. All things in the world are within the Dao, and the Dao is a cycle. The dead will one day be reincarnated and return to this world.”

Li Mo said, her tone gradually becoming firm.
“My life is still very long. I will search the world for my husband’s reincarnation.”
Just as Li Mo had said, her plans sounded utterly absurd to Meng Yingxing.

‘This demon girl… because of love, she wants to continue their bond in the next life…’
Xiu Qingcheng sighed.

‘A demon’s love is desire, obsession. It becomes a sharp sword piercing the heart of the demon race after the lover’s death, impossible to be pulled out.’

The words Xiu Qingcheng had once spoken surfaced in Meng Yingxing’s mind again.

Although Li Mo was weary from years of wandering, she longed even more to be reunited with her lover.

But Meng Yingxing didn’t understand.

“Miss Li Mo, why go to all this trouble?”

Meng Yingxing asked Li Mo.

“Because I love my husband.”

Li Mo’s answer was simple.

But Meng Yingxing understood even less, his eyes revealing immense confusion.

“I don’t understand.”

Li Mo covered her lips and chuckled. “Little Benefactor, you are still young, so naturally you don’t know what love is.”

“Love is feeling immense happiness when you are together, and immense pain when you are apart.”

“Love is being able to do things for the other person that you were never willing to do before, giving you courage and strength, and protecting each other.”

“Love is, always wanting to be with the other person, wanting to walk side by side with them.”

“Little Benefactor, when you find that person who makes your heart beat violently and whom you will never forget, you will know.”

The things Li Mo said were incomprehensible to Meng Yingxing, and also caused Xiu Qingcheng’s brain to crash.

“Master, did you understand?”
Meng Yingxing sought Xiu Qingcheng’s help.

“Didn’t understand.”
Xiu Qingcheng shook her head.

She didn’t know what love was. Her time watching movies as a man in her previous life only taught her what making love was.

Before leaving, Meng Yingxing took one last deep look at Li Mo.

“Miss Li Mo, I wish you well.”

He didn’t know what to say, only to offer his blessings.
“Thank you.”

Li Mo nodded, accepting Meng Yingxing’s blessing with a smile.
She watched as Meng Yingxing took a step, but then he suddenly turned back.

“What’s wrong?” Li Mo asked the returning Meng Yingxing.
Meng Yingxing stared into Li Mo’s eyes and said gravely, “Miss Li Mo, I hope you…”

“Deep love does not lead to a long life.”
Li Mo was stunned. By the time she came to her senses, Meng Yingxing was long gone.

She lowered her head and gave a bitter smile, muttering to herself, “Deep love… does not lead to a long life?”
These four words were what Xiu Qingcheng had asked Meng Yingxing to say to Li Mo. Meng Yingxing didn’t quite understand their meaning either.

“It’s just hoping she can see things more clearly. Searching for a reincarnation is too crazy.”
Xiu Qingcheng explained to Meng Yingxing. Clearly, she didn’t believe in reincarnation either.
Meng Yingxing nodded, also feeling that reincarnation was unreliable.

However, what had just happened was enough to weigh down Meng Yingxing’s mood for a long time.

Meng Yingxing walked down the street with heavy steps when suddenly, another sharp, explosive sound cut through the sky.

At first, Meng Yingxing thought it was some strange musical instrument, but Xiu Qingcheng suddenly exclaimed and told him to look up at the sky.

Meng Yingxing looked up. In his line of sight, a huge fireball streaked across the sky, falling straight towards Yongning City.

The scorching flames traveled through the air, instantly dyeing a corner of the sky a vast expanse of sunset colors.

Just as the fireball was about to hit the ground, it suddenly split into dozens of smaller fireballs, landing in various locations throughout Yongning City.

Meng Yingxing could clearly see that the falling small fireballs were actually winged demonic beasts resembling mutant cats!

“Demonic beasts… have actually broken into Yongning City!”
“Where are the Tianfeng Sect disciples!?”

The screams of the crowd and the roars of the demonic beasts began to echo through Yongning City.

Meng Yingxing immediately drew his sword and chased after one of the demonic beasts that had landed.

“Huh? I just said you’ll have plenty of opportunities to kill demonic beasts in the future, and now the opportunity has come?”

Xiu Qingcheng really wanted to slap her own jinxing mouth.

“Master! I’m saving people!”
“Be careful!”

Meng Yingxing swung his sword and charged towards a demonic beast that was injuring someone in a crowded street.

These demonic beasts were all very weak. With Meng Yingxing’s strength, he could kill one with just a few sword strikes.

“There are a lot of them. The Tianfeng Sect disciples stationed outside the city probably didn’t expect so many demonic beasts to appear at once, allowing them to break into the city!”

“And a demonic beast swarm of this scale… there must be a high-level demon race leading them!”
Xiu Qingcheng watched as Meng Yingxing continuously cut down one demonic beast after another, while quickly making her own judgment of the situation.

“There should still be quite a few spiritual cultivators and Tianfeng Sect disciples in the city. Fight your way through, save those you can, and rendezvous with the main force as soon as possible!”

“If you run into a high-level demon race, you will surely die!”

Just as Xiu Qingcheng finished speaking, Meng Yingxing raised his sword and cut through a street, only to run into a muscular man covered in ominous flames with horns on his head, standing in the middle of the street and blocking his path.

His presence was imposing, and his flaming sword had pierced through a spiritual cultivator of Meng Yingxing’s level.

The man flicked off the spiritual cultivator, whose life or death was unknown, from his sword and struck a proud pose.

“Those old demons told me to be careful in Yongning City, but now it seems there’s no need. The humans here… not a single one of them can fight!”

“Master… is this what you meant by… a high-level demon race?”

Even from a great distance, Meng Yingxing could still feel the immense pressure from the man covered in flames, making it difficult for him to breathe and his hands to tremble uncontrollably.

“More than that. This guy is not just a high-level demon race, but a powerful one…”

Xiu Qingcheng’s scalp was tingling just as much as Meng Yingxing’s.

It was truly a case of ‘speak of the devil.’ Not even a few seconds had passed since she had said those words, and they had run right into one.

In her opinion, this demon race could crush a few hundred Meng Yingxings with one hand.

“Run!”

There was no need for Xiu Qingcheng to say more. Meng Yingxing had already turned and fled.

He was well aware of his own capabilities. Even with Xiu Qingcheng’s help, his fighting strength was nothing against this kind of demon race.

This was not some sect competition; this was life and death!
“Oh? It seems another pitiful ant has arrived?”

The demon race had already discovered Meng Yingxing. He looked in the direction of his escape, licked his own face with his extremely long tongue, and a look of excitement appeared on his face.

“Are you scared of me? You chose to run away immediately? A pretty good choice.”

“I’ll give you a five-second head start! Struggle as much as you want, ant! Let me have some fun before I take this city!”

“Five…”

As the countdown began, the demon race shouldered his sword and slowly crouched down.

“One!”

As the last number fell, the demon race’s diamond-shaped pupils suddenly widened. With a loud bang, he shot off like a flaming cannonball in Meng Yingxing’s direction.

Everywhere the demon race passed was burned to ashes by the flames, the raging fire burning endlessly, unstoppable!

This was a hunt, and it excited him to no end!

Fleeing for his life, Meng Yingxing suddenly felt a scorching heat from behind.

He subconsciously turned his head and saw the burning demon race’s face and the sword swinging down at him.
“Get lost!”

Xiu Qingcheng flew out of Meng Yingxing’s hand and blocked the demon race’s falling blade with a single strike.

The clash of the two extraordinary weapons created a fierce shockwave, sending Meng Yingxing tumbling forward.
“It didn’t hit?”

The demon race stopped, looking at the sword in his hand with some confusion, thinking that his movement had been off.

However, his movement only paused for a moment before he immediately swung his sword again at Meng Yingxing, who was still trying to get up from the ground.

“If it didn’t hit, then I’ll just strike again! Hahahaha!”

Meng Yingxing saw the sword swinging towards him but was too slow to react.

At this critical moment, a slender, fair hand holding a cobalt-blue sword seemed to effortlessly parry the huge blade that was about to strike Meng Yingxing.

The demon race’s blade swung in an arc, its bloodstained surface reflecting the peerless beauty of a young girl’s face.
Meng Yingxing stared at the slender figure of the young girl who had suddenly appeared before him, holding his breath.

That girl’s shadow was so very similar to the one he had seen in his dream before.
