Chapter 78: The Shattered Core and a Desperate Search

Before her words could fully escape, She Man opened her mouth, spewing forth a torrent of inky black venom directly at Su Qinghan’s face!

Wherever the toxic fluid passed, the very air hissed with a corrosive sizzle.

Without so much as a glance, Su Qinghan brandished her sword with a backhand strike.

A flash of lightning.

The glob of venom instantly evaporated in mid-air, consumed entirely by the electrical power.

At that precise moment, She Man’s form vanished once more.

A premonition of danger surged through Su Qinghan, prompting her to plunge her lightning sword into the ground before her!

Boom!

Violent bolts of lightning erupted from the sword’s hilt, forming a colossal, circular electric net.

Ah!

A cry of pain echoed from behind Su Qinghan.

She Man stumbled out, her body reeling, one arm already charred black.

She had intended a sneak attack from the rear, only to be blasted back by the indiscriminate lightning net.

“You!” She Man exclaimed, a mixture of shock and fury contorting her features.

Su Qinghan, however, granted her no reprieve.

She snatched up her lightning sword and surged forward!

In an instant, on the battlements, streaks of lightning and emerald shadows intertwined in a frenzied dance.

Sword qi crisscrossed, while serpentine illusions writhed.

Su Qinghan’s swordsmanship was broad and sweeping, each strike imbued with the majestic might of the heavens, a thunderous force.

She Man, conversely, exploited the serpentine qualities of suppleness and cunning to their absolute peak. Her body launched attacks from impossible angles, each one aimed directly at Su Qinghan’s vital points.

Bang!

Su Qinghan delivered a kick to She Man’s abdomen, sending her flying backward.

Yet, simultaneously, She Man’s arm lashed out like a whip, striking Su Qinghan’s shoulder.

Both retreated at once.

Su Qinghan’s breathing grew slightly ragged.

Jiu Li’s power was rapidly ebbing away.

Another strand of white hair had vanished from her head.

‘I must finish this quickly!’

The She Man opposite her also detected this shift.

She licked the blood from the corner of her lips, a malevolent grin reappearing on her face.

“Little fox, your power… it’s weakening, isn’t it?”

“It seems you won’t last much longer.”

“It’s over!”

She Man let out a piercing shriek, abandoning her evasive tactics.

Her vast demonic energy erupted, transforming her entire being into a colossal, emerald-green demon snake that opened its blood-red maw and lunged to devour Su Qinghan!

The stench of gore was potent enough to make one swoon.

This was her strongest true form attack; she intended to swallow Su Qinghan whole, bones and all, and crush her to oblivion!

However, facing this fatal blow, not a trace of panic could be seen on Su Qinghan’s face.

This was the moment she had been waiting for.

She released her grip, allowing the infinitely powerful lightning sword to dissolve into shimmering motes of electricity, vanishing into the air.

At the very instant the demon snake’s massive maw was upon her, she advanced instead of retreating, stepping directly into the serpent’s attack range!

Her hands moved in both clockwise and counter-clockwise motions before her.

It was not an attack, nor a defense, but a ‘stick’!

Tai Chi Sticky Force!

Her hands, light as feathers, pressed against the demon snake’s enormous head.

The terrifying strength of the demon snake, capable of crushing steel, vanished like a mud ox entering the sea the moment it met her hands, leaving no trace.

She Man felt as though her full-force attack had struck cotton, an indescribably uncomfortable sensation.

Meanwhile, Su Qinghan’s form, leveraging the serpent’s forward momentum, glided eerily along its massive body, moving steadily upward!

‘This is bad!’

A blaring alarm shrieked in She Man’s mind. She twisted her body frantically, desperate to shake off the tiny ‘insect’ clinging to her.

But Su Qinghan’s hands seemed to have grown onto her scales; no matter how much she thrashed, they remained utterly unmoving.

Su Qinghan’s fingertips traced the energy meridians along the serpent’s body with terrifying speed and precision.

Her movements were frightfully accurate and calm.

Finally, her fingers halted at a point seven inches below the serpent’s neck.

There lay the core of its demonic power, the source of all its strength.

The Demon Core!

Su Qinghan’s eyes remained devoid of a single ripple.

Her five fingers clenched suddenly, and she struck with a fierce palm!

“Shatter!”

*Crack—!!!*

A bone-jarring, grating sound of shattering echoed, not from outside, but distinctly from within the demon snake’s body!

She Man’s colossal form instantly froze.

Her enormous serpentine pupils were filled with extreme pain and disbelief.

She could feel it—the wellspring of power within her, the Demon Core she had cultivated for hundreds of years, had been shattered from within by an irresistible, intricate force!

Power, like a breaching dam, furiously surged out of her body.

The massive serpent’s form slumped limply in mid-air, crashing heavily onto the battlements and kicking up a cloud of dust.

As the light faded, She Man had reverted to her human form.

She lay on the ground, her face ashen as gold leaf, blood oozing from all seven orifices, her life force utterly extinguished.

Su Qinghan slowly descended, her body swaying. She steadied herself with one hand on the nearby parapet.

She gasped violently, her raven hair now largely black once more.

Less than forty percent of her internal power remained.

Leaning against the parapet, Su Qinghan panted heavily.

The power within her was receding like a tide, and a sense of profound emptiness and weakness radiated through her limbs.

She could sense the countless newly deceased souls in this asura battlefield, their grievances and death qi continuously drawn and channeled towards a specific direction within the city.

The Wolf Lord Xuange.

He was not merely slaughtering the city; he was collecting these energies of death!

Su Qinghan raised a hand. From afar, a longsword beside the corpse of an Exorcist hummed, flew from its sheath, and was drawn into her grasp.

She joined her fingers as if forming a sword, gently caressing the cold blade.

“Wuwuwu… Little Qinghan, be a little more sparing! Are you truly not going to leave a single drop for this fox?”

Jiu Li’s tearful voice wailed despairingly in her mind.

Su Qinghan ignored her.

She plunged the longsword into the ground before her, then rapidly performed hand seals, her movements a blur of afterimages.

“Three Talents Reversal, Refine Yin and Yang!”

As she let out a sharp cry, the still-warm corpses of Lieshan and She Man on the battlements trembled violently!

Two streams of pure, immense demonic energy were forcibly extracted, transforming into a black and a green current, which furiously poured into the longsword before her!

The surrounding scattered grievances and death qi were also entirely drawn in by this power!

The sword hummed, as if unable to bear the complex energies, on the verge of shattering.

“I borrow the True One Sword of the Grand Supreme, to slay evil and destroy form, utterly annihilating body and soul!”

With her words, the blood-red longsword hovered in the air, transforming into a crimson sword-mark that tore through the night sky, striking out instantly!

Its speed surpassed sound, surpassed thought!

Meanwhile,

Lu Hongzhuang, drenched in blood, rushed back to Master Qian’s Manor gate.

She saw the impenetrable golden barrier and the safe and sound Qian family members within the courtyard.

Her heart eased slightly.

But in the next instant, she spotted the empty wheelchair.

“Where is she?”

“Where is Qinghan?” Lu Hongzhuang screamed into the courtyard, her voice hoarse.

Master Qian and the others were startled by her murderous appearance, stammering their reply.

“Miss Su… she… she went out to find you!”

Boom!

Lu Hongzhuang’s mind exploded.

‘Find me?’

“That fool who can’t even walk, went out to find me at a time like this, with demons everywhere?”

Her heart twisted into a tangled knot.

An indescribable terror and fury seized her heart.

Without another word, she spun around and charged back out.

“Hehehe, another one coming out to die!”

A lesser demon, whose path had been blocked by the formation’s light barrier, saw Lu Hongzhuang rush out and pounced with a grotesque laugh.

Lu Hongzhuang didn’t even spare it a glance.

Their figures crossed.

Splat—

The lesser demon’s body was neatly severed in half down the middle, its foul blood and organs splattering across the ground.

Lu Hongzhuang’s figure did not pause in the slightest, already vanishing at the end of the long street.

A piercing cry echoed through the chaotic Moonfall Town.

“Qinghan!”

“Where! Are you—!”
