Chapter 93: Thank You For Your Hardwork, Aunt Qin!

In the end, it was Carol and Mizukimi who stepped in to clean up the mess Jiang Cha had made.
The 10,000-coin fine was fronted by the rich loli Lina, officially making her one of Jiang Cha’s creditors.

The next morning, when Tea-bao finally woke up, she endured the emptiness that came from mana exhaustion and the headache from mental overload, kneeling weakly on the sofa and sipping recovery potion in tiny sips while Mama Qin lectured her nonstop.

She looked absolutely pitiful—
physically drained and mentally guilty.

She really had caused a huge mess this time.
If Lina hadn’t reacted instantly with the battle instincts of a trained witch, Jiang Cha would probably be looking at a full week of solitary confinement right now.

Plenty of witches who happened to be out late had gotten hurt by the incident.
Injuries were common enough among witches—friends going berserk mid-training wasn’t unheard of—but this was still one of the biggest accidents the Aisith Magic Academy had seen in half a year.

Without Carol pleading on her behalf—and Mizukimi’s prestige as a guest sage—there’s no way the Academy Security Division would have let Jiang Cha off so easily.

“I know I was wrong! I promise I’ll never again study magic that’s beyond my level, okay, Mama Qin? Please forgive meee…”

After half an hour of scolding with no end in sight, the girl finally folded, pressing her palms together and begging earnestly for mercy.

Technically, this whole thing was her own fault—though one could also say Mephisto had set her up.

Jiang Cha hadn’t expected Mephisto to be that trusting—handing her those books full of advanced necromantic theory.
Even after seeing the Great Sage’s signature on the title page, she hadn’t mentally prepared herself for what she was getting into.

And Mephisto, for her part, never imagined Jiang Cha would be that bold.

Honestly, who the hell just reads that kind of book straight through!?

That was a textbook written by the Arch-Lich Sage for her own daughter!

Little Violet was born a necromancer witch, naturally resistant to death-magic corruption, and even she, with her mother reinforcing her mind and flooding her with resources, had to take over a year to learn those high-tier necromancies—one page at a time.

And Jiang Cha?
She’d had the nerve to read an entire volume in one sitting!?

Good thing her innate magic and Awakened Witch constitution gave her absurdly high mental resilience and learning capacity.
Otherwise… she really might’ve dropped dead on the spot.

All things considered, a mere two days of headaches was already getting off lightly.

“Lina…”

“Hmph! Next time you pull something like that, I’m not saving you!”

Seeing the girl’s pitiful, pleading eyes, the proud little blond loli—newly promoted to creditor—snorted and turned away in mock anger.

The first two incidents she’d tolerated, but this time Jiang Cha had really gone too far.
Still, it wasn’t entirely her fault—her roommates often forgot that Jiang Cha, as an Awakened Witch, had no formal magical upbringing.

She’d only awakened less than five months ago; in witch society, she was basically a child without common sense.
In terms of mental maturity about magic, even eight- or nine-year-old Violet might outmatch her.

Jiang Cha simply lacked that innate reverence for knowledge most witches possessed.
She was like a bottomless creature of curiosity, embodying the witches’ self-destructive thirst for understanding—
walking a tightrope suspended over a cliff, where one misstep meant total ruin.

Of course, a large share of the blame still fell on Mortel, her teacher.
Teaching only theory but not common sense—seriously, what kind of mentorship was that!?

Lina really didn’t want to deal with this trouble magnet right now… but Jiang Cha had plenty of experience handling girls—and an unfairly beautiful face.

The black-haired, red-eyed girl knelt on the sofa in her sheer, gauzy black nightdress, pale legs dangling, slippers swinging playfully.
From behind, she slipped her arms gently around Lina’s neck, voice soft and pitiful:

“If my lovely Lina’s really angry… you can do whatever you want to me, okay?”

Lina shivered at the warm breath against her ear.
When she turned and met those glistening red eyes, so heartbreakingly pretty, most of her anger melted away.

She ground her teeth, then flashed her sharp little tiger fangs in a grin:

“Fine—just remember to pay me back!
If you don’t, I’ll sell you to Annie. She can definitely afford you.”

“……”

“I’ll pay you back next month when my dividends come in!”

Jiang Cha arched her back and pouted adorably, her cheeks puffed up like a sulky cat.

“Hehehe~ Tea-bao, my little Tea-bao, how can you be so damn cute!?”

Lina broke into laughter, grabbing the girl’s cheeks and giving them a teasing squeeze.

In the end, no matter how much trouble Jiang Cha caused, her face alone made it hard to stay mad.
Selling her off to Annie was, of course, an empty threat—Lina would never give up such eye-candy so soon.
Not until she’d had her fill of admiring her, anyway.

“Hey!”

He Qin finally couldn’t take it anymore and shouted—
but before she could continue, a little white-haired fluffball popped out of nowhere.

Estelle gazed up at her with pleading eyes, rubbing her tummy.

“When’s dinner, He Qin~? I’m huuungry.”

He Qin sighed.
Glancing at the two idiots glued together on the couch, she got up with weary resignation and headed for the kitchen.

Out of the whole chaotic household, only Lina occasionally made her life slightly easier.
The rest were all walking disasters.

Though, to be fair…
that white-haired loli’s lab had exploded more than once.
Her frequency of “accidents” was still higher than Jiang Cha’s—just less destructive overall.

“Mama Qin, you’re the best!”

“Quite the commotion you caused this time, Miss Jiang Cha.”

That afternoon, Mephisto—who had already confirmed that Jiang Cha was indeed the culprit—was honestly surprised to see the girl show up on time for their appointment.

“I heard even Tutors Diana and Vladimir were alarmed.”

“Please don’t laugh at me, Senior…”

Jiang Cha gave a bitter little smile and waved her hand.

Carol had been easy enough to deal with—she liked Jiang Cha and was openly protective of her.
But this time, Jiang Cha owed Mizukimi a serious favor.

And knowing that mischievous sage’s personality, Jiang Cha could already picture how she’d suffer when “the Great Saint” returned.

“I… overestimated myself.”

“So? How much of that person’s theory did you actually comprehend?”

Mephisto smiled elegantly, shaking her head instead of teasing further, her tone mild but curious.

“Roughly… not even half.”
