Who Saved That Monster?

One day, beings possessed of transcendent power began to appear.
Those gifted with special abilities were known as Espers, and those capable of controlling them were called Guides.
In an age where the influence of the Church was overwhelming, ability users were subjected to discrimination.

As time passed, the oppression directed at them gradually weakened, yet the Church alone continued to refuse recognition of ability users.
Emil, having graduated from the seminary, returns to his hometown to receive priestly ordination.

“It seems you’re injured. Allow me to heal you.”

A mysterious young man rescues Emil when he finds himself in danger after a beast attack.

“Emil, this is Yanis. He’s my fiancé.”
“Pleased to meet you, Emil.”

As it turns out, the man is his mother’s lover.
Introducing himself as a Guide, Yanis keeps lingering around Emil.

“Please allow me to offer my reverence—to your god.”
“May I kiss the cross drawn upon your back?”

Emil feels a strange pull toward Yanis, who shows him nothing but kindness,
and soon realizes that he has begun to harbor forbidden feelings for him…

Stricken by guilt, Emil distances himself from Yanis.
As a man of the cloth, and as a son, he steels his heart and tries to set things right—
only for something impossible to happen to Emil.

At the moment he is driven into danger, a single name rises unbidden in his mind.
