Chapter 34: Little Lady, Give Me a Smile

Soon, the trio arrived at the Yong’an Auction House.
Gazing at the opulent, golden building, Chu Huaizhou felt a pang of nostalgia. Back then, broke and raising three disciples, he’d avoid such places, not daring to glance at them.
Now…
He eyed the two storage rings on his hand, brimming with top-grade spirit stones and life-saving treasures.
Chest puffed out, he briefly entertained the idea of buying the whole auction house.

“Hold it. Who are you? Where’s your entry token?”
As they approached, a young servant in a yellow uniform blocked the trio—a man and two women.
Chu Huaizhou blinked. A token to enter?
Seeing no move to produce one, the servant prepared to shoo them away but was interrupted by an older servant.
“My apologies, he’s new and clueless. Please, this way!”
The older servant smiled apologetically, inwardly cursing the rookie.
Everyone knew the Hanyuan Dynasty’s empress was the Heavenly Origin Sword Sect’s top disciple. With that connection, venues welcomed sect members eagerly—why chase them off?

The trio moved to enter again, but a brash, arrogant voice called out.
“Wait! Heavenly Origin Sword Sect folks get in without tokens? Then what’s my hard-earned token for?”
Chu Huaizhou frowned. What’s this? Blocked twice just to enter an auction?
Turning, he saw a fat man in lavish brocade robes strutting over, jade pendants jangling like a flamboyant peacock.
Behind him trailed several followers, including a hunched old man who seemed frail but, under the Nine Luminaries Abyss Ring’s enhancement, Chu Huaizhou saw through his mid-Nascent Soul cultivation.

“What’re you staring at? I’m talking to you!”
The fat man, Ji Yifei, pointed at Chu Huaizhou, face dripping with arrogance.
“Why do you sect folks get special treatment? Even I don’t, so who do you think you are?”
Head high, nostrils flaring, he oozed “I’m number one” vibes, continuing, “I’m Ji Yifei, third young master of the General’s Mansion! My father, Ji Zhentian, commands ten thousand cavalry. Even the empress gives us respect!”
“If you know what’s good for you, you’ll—”
His words cut off as his gaze landed on Leng Qingqiu, who’d turned around.

To avoid attention, the trio had veiled their faces with illusions.
But Leng Qingqiu’s icy, aloof aura shone through, like a frost-covered plum atop a snowy peak—untouchable yet irresistibly alluring.
Compared to her, Xia Baiqian’s charm, without deeper scrutiny, seemed more ordinary.
Ji Yifei, used to fawning or fearful women, had never seen such ethereal beauty.
Stunned, his eyes gleamed with vile intent, lips curling into a nauseating grin.
“Well, well, what a beauty…”
His gaze raked over Leng Qingqiu, brazen, tongue flicking across his lips as if savoring a delicacy.
Noticing Chu Huaizhou’s mere Golden Core cultivation and Leng Qingqiu’s apparent Qi Refining stage, his greed surged.
“Little lady, why follow a Golden Core loser? Come with me, and I’ll shower you with endless riches!”
He swaggered toward them, utterly lawless.

The busy market street buzzed, yet no one dared intervene, only watching from afar.
“Poor guy, running into that tyrant Ji Yifei. Even a dragon can’t beat a local snake.”
“Those girls are real lookers. Shame they’re about to suffer.”
Some recognized the Heavenly Origin Sword Sect robes but doubted a good outcome—Ji Yifei’s notorious deeds were infamous.

Chu Huaizhou sensed trouble—not from the rich brat, but from the woman beside him.
Glancing at Leng Qingqiu, her face seemed unchanged, still icy.
But those who knew her could tell she was on the verge of erupting.
Then he looked at Xia Baiqian, clinging to his arm, feigning fear and burrowing into him, as if forgetting she was a Great Vehicle cultivator who could crush Ji Yifei with a flick.
He sighed.
This fat kid picked the wrong fight. He’s done for.

General’s Mansion, huh? Daring to target me… heh, let’s see how great you are.
Leng Qingqiu’s fingers pulsed with spiritual energy. Chu Huaizhou, closest to her, felt the ripple.
No way!
A fight was fine—he wanted to teach this punk a lesson too—but if Qingqiu acted, the auction house would collapse!
The cauldron hiding Emperor Xiaoyao’s soul fragment was inside. If things escalated and the seller fled, finding it again would be a nightmare.
He had to stop her and secure the cauldron first.

Mind racing, Chu Huaizhou acted fast, wrapping an arm around Leng Qingqiu’s waist, pulling her close.
Her brows furrowed, phoenix eyes narrowing, confused why Master stopped her.
He whispered via transmission, “Leave it to me.”
Then, aloud, “Got ideas about my woman? Can you handle the consequences?”
His right hand formed a sword gesture, spiritual energy surging, condensing into a sharp white blade at his palm.
Amplified by the Nine Luminaries Abyss Ring, his late Golden Core power skyrocketed.
Whoosh—!
The sword light flashed like lightning!

The Nascent Soul elder’s pupils shrank. “Young Master, watch out!”
But the strike was too fast—too fast for him to fully block!
Splatter—
Blood sprayed.
“AAAAHHH!”
Ji Yifei’s scream was gut-wrenching as his right arm was severed at the shoulder, crashing to the ground.

The crowd froze.
No one expected this “Golden Core” youth to sever the General’s Mansion third young master’s arm—right under a Nascent Soul guard’s nose!
Chu Huaizhou didn’t spare Ji Yifei a glance, arm still around Leng Qingqiu’s waist, leading her and Xia Baiqian calmly into the venue.
A cold remark lingered in the air: “Watch your mouth. Next time, it won’t just be your arm.”
Xia Baiqian stuck out her tongue at Ji Yifei, clinging to Chu Huaizhou as they left.

“Steward Wang, why aren’t you avenging me?!”
The elder stayed silent, feeding Ji Yifei a wound-staunching pill.
He’d seen clearly: the boy’s true strength was only late Golden Core, but that terrifying strike came from a powerful spiritual treasure.
Someone with such a treasure wasn’t ordinary in the Heavenly Origin Sword Sect.
Far from seeking revenge, he’d have to drag Ji Yifei to apologize to avoid disaster.
Ji Yifei, catching the elder’s hesitation, realized something.
Staring at his severed arm, he recalled the looks and words of those he’d bullied.
I hate rich people.

The commotion outside stirred many, but in a shielded private box within the auction house, the air was unnaturally hot despite the cool setting.
Seven figures sat cross-legged, their bodies like charred corpses, crimson robes seeping with molten cracks.
Crack—
The leader’s head split down the middle—not metaphorically—revealing writhing brain matter made of pure flame.
“I sense… a trace of this world’s origin power… delicious…”
“Not just the target…” another added, their robe bursting into flames, revealing countless anguished faces within.
“But an unexpected… delicacy…”
