Chapter 130: The Rules of the Dao Field

Ye Feng and the others were fine—either their cultivation was strong or they had special techniques. But Gu Changtian and his companion behind them weren’t doing so well. Something was off. Their faces flushed red, and their breathing grew heavy.

Before they could act, however, they suddenly fell unconscious.

The ancient ring on Ye Feng’s hand suddenly emitted a mysterious light.

The archaic runes on the ring’s surface swirled like fish, and a wisp of strange gas, like smoke and water, slowly leaked out.

It condensed into a form in the void.

An old man in white robes with white hair and a white beard stood with his hands behind his back. A faint ancient Dao aura surrounded him, giving him an immortal, otherworldly bearing.

It was Di Xiaoyao, who had been silent all along.

He performed a solemn ancient ritual of the Tianyan Sect toward Chu Huaizhou.

“Old man Di Xiaoyao greets Sword Immortal Chu. Regarding this place, this old man might know a thing or two.”

Chu Huaizhou had been waiting for Di Xiaoyao to come forward and see him. He had been pondering how to speak to convince the old man that he meant no harm. But now it seemed Di Xiaoyao was being very respectful? This was different from the stubborn, arrogant, tsundere old man in the game.

Chu Huaizhou returned a greeting from the Tianyuan Sword Sect. “Elder Di, you may just call me by my name. It feels strange to have an ancient great power address me as Sword Immortal.”

Di Xiaoyao said, “That’s not so. I’ve heard much about your deeds along the way, and I greatly admire them. Now that I see you in person, you are truly a peerless expert.”

Chu Huaizhou’s mouth twitched slightly. He thought to himself, ‘Why is this old man suddenly so eloquent? Is it because he sees how strong I am?’ He shuddered. He had planned to use his personality charm and his knowledge of Di Xiaoyao to gain the old man’s trust, but it seemed his favorability was already high from the start.

‘Does being strong mean you can do whatever you want?’ he thought mischievously, but he didn’t dare say it aloud.

Chu Huaizhou said, “No, no, you flatter me. I simply did what I had to do. But your method of dividing your soul into artifacts is truly miraculous. You must have been a top-tier power in your time.”

Di Xiaoyao replied, “Not at all, not at all. This old man…”

The two of them began a back-and-forth of mutual flattery.

Ye Feng, sandwiched between them, watched as the mysterious and powerful Elder Di suddenly turned into a worldly old man. She was shocked. She pinched her cheek, hardly believing her eyes. ‘What? Who turned Elder Di into this? Wasn’t he the one who once said he loved romantic pursuits and disliked official flattery? Now he’s spouting pleasantries left and right?’

Ye Feng herself detested this kind of classic polite exchange, especially when both parties were familiar with each other.

But fortunately, it wasn’t without benefit. At least Bai Li, who was in Chu Huaizhou’s arms, gradually slowed her kneading motion as she listened to their conversation. She began to sway drowsily, no longer exuding her charm.

After a few exchanges, when Chu Huaizhou was about to continue flattering, Xia Baiqian, who had finished interrogating the scantily clad people around and was seeking a way out, suddenly leaned in and said, “Master! I think I know how to get out.”

She moved even closer, cupping her hand over her ear, and whispered, “To leave here, we seem to need to perform a yin-yang **.”

The warm breath tickled his ear, but Chu Huaizhou wasn’t in the mood to notice. His mouth opened, but before he could say what he wanted to Di Xiaoyao, it formed an ‘O’ shape.

‘Wait, what is Baiqian saying? Yin-yang **—sounds fancy, but isn’t that just… that? Is this plot right? Is it proper? It feels like something I’ve seen in some anime before.’

Chu Huaizhou almost instinctively took Xia Baiqian’s words as teasing, because it was too out of place, not fitting the style of a cultivation world. He was about to scold her to be serious and not fool around. But from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the bare-skinned crowd around him, and his expression froze.

‘If you put it that way, it actually makes sense. This demon sect wasn’t known for yin-yang techniques, so why is it so urgent? This scene here… Good grief, has it really become a secret realm you can’t escape unless you rub backs?’

And worse, if that were the case, then in their group, he was the only man—the rest were his own disciples… Was this right? This wasn’t right, was it? Had all his efforts over the long time to fend off his disciples’ advances come to naught today?

Xia Baiqian’s voice wasn’t loud, but those present weren’t mortals, so they couldn’t have missed it. Ye Feng was dazed for a moment, then a blush appeared on her pretty face. Although she had never heard that term before, she almost instantly understood.

Di Xiaoyao gave an awkward smile, as if suddenly remembering why he had appeared. He stroked his beard and said seriously, “This Gu Immortal is correct. This place is indeed very strange. Most likely, we must follow its rules.”

“I’ve been thinking about where I sensed this aura before. Though I haven’t remembered, I now know the uniqueness of this place…”

Chu Huaizhou wanted to say, no matter how special this place was, how formidable could it be? They had two Mahayana-stage cultivators here—how could they not break a small secret realm?

But immediately, Di Xiaoyao poured cold water on him. “Ever since we entered here, we are no longer on the continent we know. Yes, we could forcibly break through, but after doing so, we would face the ‘void’ that can tear everything apart.”

Chu Huaizhou gasped. According to Di Xiaoyao, did that mean that even if he took an eighth-grade pill to restore his cultivation, he still couldn’t get out?

Shudder, shudder, shudder—

Chu Huaizhou felt movement behind him and couldn’t help but shiver. It turned out that Xia Baiqian, having received Di Xiaoyao’s endorsement, had become bolder. She used her Gu to lower her presence so that everyone wouldn’t forget she existed, but they could overlook some small actions.

For instance, Xia Baiqian’s jade-like fingers traced circles on Chu Huaizhou’s back. Her slender legs, wrapped in white tights, rubbed together softly, making a rustling sound. A sickly smile appeared on her face.

‘Master, it’s not that I want this; there’s no other choice.’

Chu Huaizhou knew what Baiqian was up to, so he immediately struggled to ask, “Elder Di, do you know whose domain this is?”

Di Xiaoyao shook his head. “I’m sorry, my memory is incomplete, so I don’t know. But subconsciously, I feel that the owner is no good.”

Chu Huaizhou: “Then is there really no normal way to leave?”

Di Xiaoyao: “There is, but… it’s very difficult. You must use ‘Dao’ to contend…”

Chu Huaizhou: “Contend with Dao? What does that mean?”

Di Xiaoyao glanced at the cave walls. The hard stone seemed to be softening, and tentacles began to appear. “Explaining it is complicated, and we may not have much time. Simply put, this place is someone’s Dao field. All rules must be followed according to their requirements. To leave, there should be only two methods: follow the rules, or contend for the Dao field, turning this place into our territory. Only then can we break the situation.”

Hearing this, Chu Huaizhou’s face fell. He didn’t fully understand, but the gist was that if they couldn’t seize the other’s Dao field, they might be trapped here forever—or even die!

“Can we actually seize a Dao field?” he asked.

Di Xiaoyao shook his head in shame. “It should be possible, but… my soul memory is incomplete. I don’t know the method. I can only roughly use a Dao field to oppose another Dao field.”

The atmosphere fell into silence.

Chu Huaizhou said, “So, we have to do that kind of thing?”
