Chapter 4: Sister Missing

In an instant, Su Mu Zhe’s pupils constricted.

Switched off, why was it switched off?

Su Xiao Zi usually only put her phone on silent at school, but she would never turn it off.

Her phone was always fully charged every night, and they often communicated using messaging apps on their phones at school.

For instance, they would decide together whether to eat dinner separately at the school cafeteria or to consider going home to cook, and where she would wait for Su Mu Zhe after class to go home together.

They would frequently communicate about such matters via phone.

Xiao Zi, please don’t let anything happen to you…

“Tsk.” A sense of unease filled his heart, his heartbeat quickened, and his steps, which were moving with the crowd, immediately stopped, turning instead in another direction.

Su Mu Zhe ran, panting, as if sprinting with all his might.

His sister was in Class 1 of the second year of high school; if he wasn’t mistaken, the classroom should be the first one on the left on the third floor.

People from upstairs were descending in droves, while Su Mu Zhe pushed his way up against the crowd, causing many to look at him with puzzled or even annoyed eyes.

But he had no time to worry about that; he had to find his sister quickly and confirm her safety.

His eyes constantly scanned the crowd, but the figure he sought was slow to appear.

“Xiao Qian! Have you seen Su Xiao Zi?”

Suddenly, Su Mu Zhe spotted a familiar girl in the crowd, grabbed her shoulder, and quickly asked.

Ye Meng Qian was also a student in Class 1 of the second year of high school; she was Su Xiao Zi’s best friend. Su Xiao Zi often brought her home to play, and over time, Su Mu Zhe also became familiar with Ye Meng Qian.

Su Mu Zhe hadn’t seen his sister, but he had seen Ye Meng Qian.

“Ah! Su, Brother Su, it’s you, why are you here? Didn’t they say there was a fire—are you here to find Xiao Zi?”

Ye Meng Qian was suddenly grabbed by the shoulder, which startled her, and she looked closely to see that it was Su Mu Zhe.

“Yes, I’m here to find her, have you seen her?”

“Yes, she was just behind me—huh! Where is she!? She was clearly walking out of the classroom with me just now.”

Ye Meng Qian turned around, and Su Xiao Zi, who had been following her, was now gone. She exclaimed in surprise, looking back again, but she wasn’t there either.

“You said she was walking out of the classroom with you just now, right? Just a moment ago?”

“Yes, just about a minute ago, we came down from the third floor together. I thought she was still following me, how did she suddenly disappear!?”

Ye Meng Qian also grew anxious. In such a dangerous situation, all students in the school had to evacuate immediately. How could Su Xiao Zi suddenly disappear?

Was she pushed to the back by the crowd, or did she perhaps fall?

Thinking of the stampede incidents constantly reported in the news before, Ye Meng Qian’s heart immediately rose to her throat. She looked around anxiously, involuntarily stomping her foot.

“I’m sorry, Brother Su, I didn’t notice when she disappeared, what should we do!”

“Don’t worry, you go downstairs with everyone first and go home obediently. It’s truly dangerous in the school; things more dangerous than fire could happen, don’t stay near the school to watch the commotion.”

“Things more dangerous than… fire?”

“Yes, listen to me, remember, you must go home immediately!”

You must go home immediately!

Su Mu Zhe emphasized the last sentence with a serious tone; he didn’t want Ye Meng Qian to encounter anything bad.

At this moment, perhaps only a few people knew the truth about the situation inside the school.

Although the school was evacuating under the guise of a fire to prevent panic, Su Mu Zhe knew the seriousness of the situation, and returning home quickly was the safest measure.

Su Xiao Zi should also go home, leaving without a moment’s delay!

Having barely gathered some information about Su Xiao Zi, Su Mu Zhe continued to weave through the crowd, constantly saying, “Excuse me, please let me pass.”

When he climbed upstream to the third-floor staircase, the classrooms on this floor were already completely empty.

As the crowd continuously left the teaching building, the surroundings gradually became quiet, with only the occasional sound of a pen rolling off a desk and falling to the floor in a classroom.

Su Mu Zhe arrived at Class 1 of the second year of high school; the classroom was empty.

Books were piled on the desks, untouched, and everyone’s schoolbags were hanging on their chairs, including Su Xiao Zi’s white schoolbag, which still had the rabbit charm her brother gave her on her birthday hanging from its zipper.

Su Mu Zhe walked quickly to Su Xiao Zi’s desk; her recently written homework book was still on the surface.

She should have evacuated with everyone to the shelter, but why hadn’t he seen her along the way?

Even if Su Mu Zhe had missed her, Su Xiao Zi, seeing Su Mu Zhe alone going against the crowd, should have called out to him; it shouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

“Are you that worried about your sister?”

The Bloodkin girl’s voice appeared again at Su Mu Zhe’s ear, soft and gentle as flowing water.

Su Mu Zhe’s steps halted; he turned his head and said to what was behind him:

“You know where she is?”

“No, I don’t. Bloodkin and Otherworld Beasts have unique aura fluctuations when they appear, but ordinary people don’t… However, I suggest you worry about your own situation first.”

“What do you mean?” Su Mu Zhe took another step, his tone still cold towards Evran, but a bit more cautious.

“Hmph. You’ve really become exceptionally dull after losing your abilities, Lord Wraith.” Evran also emitted a resentful sound, and finally, annoyedly, conveyed a piece of information to Su Mu Zhe—

“But what I want to tell you now is.”

“You are currently only a dozen meters away from the Bloodkin, you know?”

There was a strange sound!

The moment Evran revealed this information, Su Mu Zhe also keenly caught the sound of footsteps coming from upstairs.

Although he had lost all the power that belonged to an Exterminator, countless combat experiences made him extremely vigilant to everything around him; even the slightest rustle would be noticed by him.

At this moment, upstairs, which was the fourth floor of Building 2, there were footsteps.

And, not just one person.

The steps were very slow.

The third floor was already empty, so how could there be people on the fourth floor walking leisurely as if strolling?

Su Mu Zhe’s expression solidified; he held his breath, slowly crouched down, and quietly hid inside the classroom door. His body, devoid of abilities, still perceived the approaching pressure.

That’s right, absolutely no mistake.

Upstairs, it wasn’t the movement of an Otherworld Beast, but at least two Bloodkin advancing.

Their direct distance from Su Mu Zhe was now no more than ten meters!
