When her name was mentioned, Tina showed a slight reaction.
But she clearly hadn’t grasped the meaning behind Su Xiao Zi’s words. She answered blankly,
“Tina does not like vinegar. Tina only likes ice cream.”
True ultimate straight shooter—Tina.
“Ahhh— Little Tina, you idiot!”
“Mm… Though Tina does not know why she is being scolded, Tina will reflect properly.”
You don’t even know what you’re supposed to reflect on!
Su Xiaoxiao, eavesdropping from behind her door, couldn’t help roasting her inwardly.
Of course, a single door was no barrier to Evran.
After returning to her room, Su Xiaoxiao immediately turned off the lights, slipped into bed, pulled the covers up, and began elementary-schooler bedtime mode.
Evran finished dressing and left Su Xiao Zi’s room.
But instead of heading straight to Su Xiaoxiao’s, she detoured to the kitchen. The fridge door opened with a soft sound.
None of my business. As long as I pretend to be asleep, Evran shouldn’t push too hard.
*Knock knock…*
Finally, the door was tapped.
“Xiaoxiao~ Open up♪”
No way, no way, I’m not opening. Mom’s not home—no one gets in.
Su Xiaoxiao squeezed her eyes shut, regulated her breathing, and snuggled deeper under the warm blanket, perfecting the sleeping act.
Seeing no response, Evran grasped the doorknob.
“I’m coming in~ If I accidentally catch you changing or something, it’s not my fault, okay?”
No response. Early to bed, early to rise—healthy body.
Once inside, the room was pitch black, curtains fully drawn, utterly silent.
A stark contrast to the lively chatter still drifting from the room across the hall.
Light from the living room spilled in as the door opened. Su Xiaoxiao felt the darkness lighten slightly but stayed silent.
Her heartbeat, however, began to quicken.
The soft patter of Evran’s bunny slippers drew closer.
Exactly—because of that so-called “contract,” if Evran decided to force anything, Su Xiaoxiao wouldn’t be able to resist even if she wanted to.
That was the root of her current panic.
It felt like her life and death were entirely in Evran’s hands—one whim away.
No, absolutely not. No way I’m doing *that*. Even if girls supposedly feel ten times more than boys—absolutely not!!!
Evran quietly closed the door, walked to the bedside, set something down, and flicked on the wall lamp with one hand.
She looked at the peacefully “sleeping” Su Xiaoxiao and murmured in slight confusion,
“Hm? Already asleep? You must be exhausted from playing all day.”
Heh heh. Evran, you can never wake someone who’s pretending.
…Wait. Why is there a faint sweet scent? It started when Evran came in—kinda like cream.
“Looks like she really is asleep. But her breathing seems a little fast… Is she sick?”
Evran leaned down and gently pressed her forehead to Su Xiaoxiao’s.
They were so close their breaths mingled.
This girl… getting this close… what is she planning…
“Ah, her heart’s racing too. Maybe running a fever? Let’s take off some clothes and wipe the sweat with a towel.”
As she spoke, Evran slipped a cool little hand under the blanket, slowly sliding it toward Su Xiaoxiao’s chest.
Su Xiaoxiao felt herself reaching the breaking point.
Her eyes snapped open. She sprang up from the bed, instantly putting distance between them.
“Don’t come near me! I don’t want to play! Go away!”
The pretend-sleep plan had failed. Sensing danger, she shouted.
Evran jolted in fright, nearly dropping the cake box she held in both hands.
Only then did Su Xiaoxiao see clearly: Evran was holding a small cake box.
No wonder she’d smelled cream earlier.
Was the “thing” she wanted to give her… this?
After being yelled at, Evran froze on the spot.
Her hands trembled slightly as she held the box. Her jewel-like crimson eyes stared blankly at the feral little beast Su Xiaoxiao had become on the bed. Tears instantly welled up.
Evran bit her lip, lowered her head in grievance, and softly placed the cake box on the nightstand. Her voice choked with sobs.
“I… I just wanted… to give you some cake…”
“Why… why are you being so mean to me…”
Su Xiaoxiao was stunned.
She felt like she had misunderstood something on reflex.
If Evran’s idea of “playing” was just eating cake together, her reaction had been way over the top.
She’d unintentionally said something really hurtful.
No, wait—think about it. Evran’s an Oscar-level actress; she definitely has ulterior motives.
But seeing Evran teary-eyed like this filled Su Xiaoxiao with overwhelming guilt.
Evran turned off the wall lamp, kicked off her slippers, crawled into the blanket, and turned her back to Su Xiaoxiao.
She curled into a ball and quietly sobbed to herself.
Like a hurt, sulking little wife after a fight.
In the darkness, Su Xiaoxiao remained standing, blinking slowly, brain lagging.
W-What just happened…? Did I do something wrong…?
But I thought it was *that*… so I…
Su Xiaoxiao scratched the back of her head in distress, knelt on the blanket, and cautiously scooted closer to Evran.
Her hesitant hand hovered in the air.
Evran clutched the blanket tightly, only half her head peeking out, body trembling like a wounded bunny.
Su Xiaoxiao clasped her hands apologetically in front of her, lowered her head, and after a long while finally stammered,
“I-I’m… sorry…”
