Chapter 15: Broken Cell Phone

It’s over, Evran, as you wished.

Su Xiaoxiao lowered her head, gazing at her slender hands stained with blood, and whispered.
That clear, adorable voice, even though she had heard it countless times, still felt strange and distant to her.

As soon as she finished speaking, the crimson bloodstains and sharp blood-thorns behind her silently dissipated, as if they had never existed.

The two Bloodkin lying in pools of blood were also consumed as if by invisible flames, turning into black and grey particles.

They scattered with the wind, returning to nothingness.

Su Xiaoxiao didn’t wait for Evran’s response, her gaze sweeping downstairs; the school was already empty, teachers and students had all evacuated, and the campus was completely sealed off.

With a “whoosh,” she unhesitatingly flipped over the third-floor railing, her figure light as a feather, plummeting straight towards the ground.

Evran, in a panic, rushed to the railing, leaning over to peer down.
Although she knew Su Xiaoxiao was no longer an ordinary person, her mind still involuntarily regarded her as a fragile human; falling from the third floor, an ordinary person, even if not dead, would inevitably be severely injured.

Su Xiaoxiao landed steadily, walking forward with firm steps.
She bent down and gently picked up the shattered pink phone from the ground, gazing at it silently.

That was her sister’s phone.
‘Xiao Zi, has she really… been murdered?’

She knew the cruelty of the Bloodkin all too well.

Ordinary humans like her sister, once they encountered Bloodkin, could hardly escape. Bloodkin never picked their victims, often taking lives with a mocking attitude, viewing humans as ants.

Humans, in their eyes, were always so vulnerable.
But at least… at least she had to find her sister’s remains.

No matter where her sister was now, she had to confirm it with her own eyes to allow herself to accept this cruel reality.

“Sister… I’m sorry… wait for me, I will find you, and then… bring you home.”
Su Xiaoxiao stared intently at the shattered phone screen, her pupils trembling slightly. She gritted her teeth, looked up, and desperately held back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes.

Evran silently followed behind her, gazing at her small figure.
Those slender shoulders seemed as though they could be crushed by heavy sorrow at any moment.

Evran dared not approach; she knew that as a Bloodkin, any words of comfort she offered would appear pale and powerless, perhaps even hurting Su Xiaoxiao more deeply.

She could feel Su Xiaoxiao’s profound grief at this moment—a beloved family member brutally murdered by Bloodkin. This hatred was not without cause.

Perhaps, in the past, she had already experienced similar pain countless times.

Evran prayed for the sister’s safety in her heart, the only thing she could do for Su Xiaoxiao.
Su Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and was about to put away the broken phone when a familiar melody came from upstairs.

It was her phone’s ringtone, “Bird’s Poem,” sung by her sister at a party.

She suddenly remembered that because her body had shrunk, her original pants were too large and had been left behind on the third-floor corridor.

And her phone was still in the pants’ pocket at that moment.
With a light leap, her figure like a swallow, she instantly returned to the third floor.
When she was an Exterminator, such a height was effortless for her.

A year of hiatus had not dulled her combat instincts; the moment her power returned, all her skills and intuition felt as if they had never left.

She pulled out her phone from the pocket of the oversized men’s pants, and the moment the screen lit up, her gaze suddenly froze.

Caller ID – “Sister”!?

Su Xiaoxiao could hardly believe her eyes, and with trembling hands, she pressed the answer button.
From the other end of the phone came that familiar, heart-pounding voice, clear and pleasant, full of vitality, as if it had never been harmed.

– “Hello? Brother, why are you calling me? I’ve already safely evacuated after the school incident, where are you now?”

“What!?” Su Xiaoxiao froze in place.
