Chapter 103: The World-Devourer’s Pursuit

She was not human, nor was she a demon.

She used neither spiritual power nor demonic power.

‘What World-Devouring Heavenly General, what Hua Bukai.’

‘How utterly inexplicable.’

Xiu Qingcheng’s sword rose high and fell, blocking Hua Bukai’s attacks.

Hua Bukai’s only weapons were the incredibly sharp nails on her hands, and the small skinning knife she held.

But her nails were as hard as iron, and the “one inch long, one inch strong” rule was nowhere to be seen on her skinning knife.

As Hua Bukai moved, her mass of red curly hair flew like blooming roses. Behind the roses, the sinister skinning knife darted forward.

Her speed was incredibly fast, her movements ghostly, at least faster than Xiu Qingcheng, whose strength was greatly diminished due to the spiritual energy obstruction.

‘Oh, when can I get a body of flesh and blood? Now, if the spiritual energy around this spirit body is restricted, it’s like being dead.’

Xiu Qingcheng had a premonition that if she were in her complete form, she would have instantly annihilated this Hua Bukai in just a few moves, no questions asked.

Xiu Qingcheng was displeased.

The skinning knife strangely bypassed Xiu Qingcheng’s sword edge, striking straight for Xiu Qingcheng’s face.

Xiu Qingcheng watched motionless as Hua Bukai’s skinning knife enlarged before her face.

Hua Bukai still smiled seductively, already anticipating the blooming of a blood-flower on Xiu Qingcheng’s face.

However, her strike passed through Xiu Qingcheng, cutting only air.

Xiu Qingcheng had actually transformed from a solid state to a spiritual state at this moment, cleverly dodging Hua Bukai’s attack and appearing behind her.

The sword in Xiu Qingcheng’s hand, without any hesitation, swung down towards Hua Bukai’s back neck.

But she found she had struck nothing. Hua Bukai’s expression froze for a moment, then she immediately spun around and swung her knife.

Her strength was immense. Even the small, sharp skinning knife, when clashing with the Ting Tian Sword’s replica, did not fall behind in the slightest.

The two weapons collided, locked in a stalemate.

“Oh, I didn’t expect you, beauty… to actually be a spirit body? What a pity, I won’t be able to peel off your beautiful face.”

Hua Bukai looked at the cold beauty before her, her interest not waning, but increasing.

“It’s alright. For spirit bodies like you, your souls are especially pure… I like you.”

Xiu Qingcheng sneered, seemingly mocking Hua Bukai.

“No thanks, I’m truly not blessed enough to accept your affection. If I had seen you in my previous life, I might have accepted.”

A strikingly beautiful face and a fiery figure with a voluptuous chest—this was undoubtedly the type Xiu Qingcheng would have favored in her previous life.

Unfortunately, she didn’t like it now.

As they spoke, the two exchanged blows several times.

“Never mind, I’ll say it again.”

Xiu Qingcheng still held her own in verbal sparring, but she could feel that Hua Bukai was not using her full strength. She had to find a way to defeat the enemy before then.

Or simply escape with Meng Yingxing.

Xiu Qingcheng quickly glanced at Meng Yingxing behind her. That fellow was holding the Ting Tian Sword, his eyes wide with fury.

‘This is good.’

‘If Meng Yingxing charged forward, he would be instantly…’

‘That was her disciple whom she had raised for many years.’

Xiu Qingcheng’s sword moves were endless, each one a deadly killing blow, but Hua Bukai also possessed great power, easily breaking through each technique.

Xiu Qingcheng retreated slightly, taking two steps as one, and thrust her three-foot sharp blade forward in an instant.

Sword cries echoed. A single sharp blade transformed into three, a mix of real and illusory, making it impossible to tell which one was striking at Hua Bukai.

Hua Bukai’s face wore the same graceful smile throughout. As the illusory sword shadows approached, she merely raised her hand slightly.

Xiu Qingcheng’s blade, as if abruptly halted, was firmly pinched by her sharp fingertips.

“If you had a body of flesh and blood, it would be easier to deal with me. What a pity you’re a spirit body!”

“What we are best at dealing with… are spirit bodies!”

Hua Bukai’s four eyes suddenly widened a bit, her face beaming with a radiant smile. She gripped Xiu Qingcheng’s blade and charged forward.

“Beauty, you said it yourself, if I can touch you… you have to obediently listen to me!”

Xiu Qingcheng suddenly felt a bad premonition and immediately wanted to pull her sword back to escape.

But Hua Bukai’s speed was too fast; in a blink of an eye, she had already lunged in front of her.

Xiu Qingcheng resorted to her old trick, transforming herself into a spiritual state, intending to let Hua Bukai pass through her body.

But Hua Bukai’s outstretched hand incredibly precisely grabbed Xiu Qingcheng’s neck!

“Got you!” Hua Bukai’s voice was lingering, her four eyes filled with amusement.

“How is this possible? A spirit body can be grabbed?!”

For the first time, an expression of shock appeared in Xiu Qingcheng’s eyes.

The pain in her neck also constantly reminded Xiu Qingcheng that her spirit body had been caught by the opponent, and she could even feel pain as a result.

‘What a disgusting creature.’

‘It’s like something sticky.’

Xiu Qingcheng grabbed Hua Bukai’s hand in return.

“Hey, well done then.”

She praised Hua Bukai without any emotion, trying to pull away the hand gripping her neck with force.

Hua Bukai’s fingertips carved what looked like spiritual energy damage on Xiu Qingcheng’s neck, white light, like blood, slowly dissipating.

“Master!!!”

Xiu Qingcheng was momentarily at a disadvantage. Meng Yingxing’s eyes were bloodshot. He gripped the Ting Tian Sword, his eyes wide with fury.

Meng Yingxing charged forward with his sword.

‘To let Master face the enemy alone, while he could only watch from the side…’

‘He couldn’t do such a thing!’

‘He wanted to stand shoulder to shoulder with his Master, facing the enemy together, experiencing life and death, not to hide behind his Master like a coward!’

He knew that Xiu Qingcheng had always been lonely.

Her madness in battle, the loneliness in her back during fights, Meng Yingxing understood them all.

He wanted to be by Xiu Qingcheng’s side, always and forever.

If Master could break through the stormy snow for him, then he could also endure countless difficulties and dangers, becoming a reliable back for his Master!

Dragging his already weary body, Meng Yingxing roared, putting all his strength into a slash towards Hua Bukai.

Hua Bukai heard the commotion from Meng Yingxing’s side, slightly raised one eye, and flicked the skinning knife in her hand towards Meng Yingxing.

The thrown skinning knife let out a dull bang in the air, condensing a massive airflow that shot towards Meng Yingxing like a bullet.

The skinning knife struck Meng Yingxing, suddenly unleashing an exaggerated explosion. The barren ground instantly splattered with dirt, and smoke billowed.

“Meng Yingxing!”

Xiu Qingcheng cried out.

Hua Bukai gripped Xiu Qingcheng’s neck tightly, although she couldn’t fully suppress her yet.

“Oh? Was that your disciple just now?”

She asked Xiu Qingcheng with interest.

“He looks quite good, but he thinks too highly of himself. He doesn’t really believe he can hurt me by charging up, does he?”

“If people from your Jintian Kyushu want to hurt one of us World-Devouring Heavenly Generals, they would at least need to be… hmm… above the Myriad Stars realm? This is still assuming we World-Devouring Heavenly Generals are completely unprepared.”

“Unless… you still have someone with that foul weapon now.”

Xiu Qingcheng stared intently at Hua Bukai, watching her momentary change in expression from fear, and spoke to herself.

“Oh dear, that weapon seems to have already been corroded by us. It’s probably destroyed long ago, right?”

“True, too bad, I thought too highly of you all!”

Hua Bukai’s smile widened, her four eyes filled with bloodthirsty excitement.

However, her excitement below instantly turned into astonishment.

Because a cobalt-blue sword had pierced through her body from behind.

Hua Bukai, utterly bewildered, slowly turned her head. Her four eyes met a pair of crimson eyes tinged with purple.

Meng Yingxing, who should have at least been knocked to the ground by her skinning knife, had somehow appeared behind her and directly stabbed his sword into her body.

“How is this possible?”

Facing Hua Bukai’s question, Meng Yingxing forcefully pushed the Ting Tian Sword deeper into her.

“Let go of my Master!!”

Meng Yingxing growled, complex purple patterns flickering on his forehead, like a wild beast.

“You little brat!!”

Hua Bukai shed her earlier smile, her face utterly ferocious.

She released Xiu Qingcheng, turned around, pulled the sword Meng Yingxing had plunged into her body, and then with a claw, directly flung Meng Yingxing away.

Xiu Qingcheng seized the opportunity to get up and attacked Hua Bukai from behind, leaving a hideous wound on her.

Hua Bukai cried out in pain, hastily putting distance between herself, Xiu Qingcheng, and Meng Yingxing.

She touched the wound Meng Yingxing had pierced through, looking at the bloodstains on her hand, utterly unable to believe her eyes.

A young lad who moments ago seemed to be only at the Star-Grade cultivation realm, in her unique domain ability that suppressed spiritual energy, was actually able to wound her to this extent?!

“Disciple!”

Xiu Qingcheng quickly flew into the air to protect Meng Yingxing, placing him on the ground.

“Are you alright?”

Xiu Qingcheng grabbed Meng Yingxing’s shoulders, but found Meng Yingxing to be a little different at this moment.

His crimson-gold eyes were tinged with purple, intricate patterns on his forehead, and faint purple illusory shadows like claws on his limbs—

As well as his strength, which had surged to the Middle Myriad Stars realm.

And the aura he was now emitting was clearly…

Xiu Qingcheng couldn’t possibly be mistaken.

Xiu Qingcheng frowned, then quickly softened her expression.

This was not the time to dwell on such matters.

“I’m fine.”

Meng Yingxing gasped for breath, not daring to relax his grip on the Ting Tian Sword for a moment.

“I told you to hide well, why didn’t you listen?!”

Xiu Qingcheng questioned Meng Yingxing.

“I want to fight with Master.”

“You’re not allowed!”

“I want to fight with Master.”

“You’re not allowed!”

“I want to fight with Master.”

Hua Bukai looked at the master and disciple before her, but her gaze was fixed only on the sword in Meng Yingxing’s hand.

“That sword… that sword…”

“How could it still exist?!”

“I must… I must destroy it!”

Hua Bukai’s eyes filled with ferocity. In a blink of an eye, she was in front of Meng Yingxing and Xiu Qingcheng, spreading her hands into ten claws.

Xiu Qingcheng’s gaze turned cold, and she raised her sword to block.

She noticed Hua Bukai’s attack target had shifted from her to Meng Yingxing.

Hua Bukai slapped away Xiu Qingcheng’s sword, then fiercely thrust her claws towards Meng Yingxing’s vital points.

“I’m going to kill you!!!”

Meng Yingxing wielded the Ting Tian Sword. At this moment, red patterns continuously flickered on the cobalt-blue blade of the Ting Tian Sword.

Facing the powerful Hua Bukai, Meng Yingxing managed to barely block her attacks.

Hua Bukai’s attacks had descended into a frenzy. Her blows continuously struck the ground where Meng Yingxing and Xiu Qingcheng stood, as if to tear the very earth apart.

In an instant, the flying dust dispersed, and Hua Bukai saw two figures within the smoke.

Xiu Qingcheng and Meng Yingxing stood shoulder to shoulder, one on the left, one on the right, jointly wielding the same cobalt-blue sword.
