Join the ServerAfter scolding her for a long while, Mother Shi felt as if every punch had landed on cotton, with absolutely no response.
Finding it utterly pointless, she waved her hand to dismiss her.
“Go on, go on, I can’t bear to look at you.”
“Mother, then I’ll go upstairs.”
Shi Kezhen finally let out a secret sigh of relief.
Returning to her room, she kicked off her slippers, threw her entire body onto the bed, and rolled over while hugging her blanket.
In less than a minute, she fell asleep.
This nap lasted for more than two hours.
Upon waking up and seeing the time was nearly twelve o’clock, she didn’t dare laze in bed any longer.
Otherwise, if she didn’t appear at the dining table before lunch, she would be scolded again.
Being very proactive this time, she didn’t go straight downstairs after leaving her room, but first went to Shi Yanzhou’s room to knock on his door.
Very quickly, the door was opened.
Shi Yanzhou left the door open and turned back into his room, asking as he walked.
“What is it?”
Shi Kezhen stood at the doorway without entering.
Shi Yanzhou didn’t like her entering his room; she was always very self-aware and wouldn’t cross that boundary.
“Are you busy?”
“It’s almost time for lunch.”
Shi Yanzhou didn’t answer; he walked over to sit on the sofa in his room, keeping his head lowered as he assembled a Lego set.
His fingers held a tiny piece, comparing it repeatedly with the instruction manual, looking very earnest and focused.
Shi Kezhen stood at the door looking at him, secretly curling her lip when no one was paying attention.
‘He’s such a grown man, yet he still plays with these things; he really has a childlike heart.’
Well, in truth, she was a bit sour about it because she had never had any toys from childhood to adulthood.
Mother Shi didn’t like her playing with toys, claiming it would sap her ambition.
‘She wondered why Mother Shi wasn’t afraid of her own son sapping his ambition, instead believing it was only normal for boys to be a bit playful.’
Shi Kezhen simply stood outside the door, quietly watching him assemble the Lego, not rushing him at all.
After a long while, he seemed to finish assembling a certain part in his hands, examining it with satisfaction for a few seconds before setting the model down.
Only then did he stand up contentedly, finally realizing she was still standing outside.
“Have you been standing there the entire time?”
She gave a faint smile.
“Waiting for you.”
Shi Yanzhou was utterly speechless; he walked over, pulled the door shut behind him, and headed downstairs.
Shi Kezhen followed his steps, slowly walking downstairs behind him.

During lunch, it was a rare occasion for Father Shi to also return home to eat with them.
Normally, he would spend the entire day at his company, leaving in the morning and returning only at night.
Hurrying back specifically for lunch today clearly meant there was a reason.
Before he even picked up his chopsticks, his gaze first landed on Shi Yanzhou’s face.
“Yanzhou, are you close with the Prince of the Gao family at school?”
Shi Yanzhou spoke the truth.
“I’m not close with him; we’re in the same school, yes, but we’ve never spoken.”
Father Shi frowned, looking highly perplexed.
“He proactively brought you up last night, even saying he had seen you while out playing.”
Shi Yanzhou thought about it; it must have been that time at the billiards club.
But that time, Gao Cheng clearly hadn’t even looked him in the eye, and when he had proactively reached out his hand, the other party hadn’t even taken it.
He hesitated for a moment but still described the situation of that day honestly.
Hearing this, Father Shi was also deeply puzzled.
“Could he have come over specifically to greet us last night out of respect for the Jiang family?”
Mother Shi also agreed with this possibility, her tone carrying some certainty.
“Young Master Gao’s mother is indeed the biological younger sister of the head of the Jiang family.”
“We have had partnerships with the Jiang family in recent years, so looking at it this way, it does make sense.”
Shi Yanzhou opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but swallowed it back down.
‘He wanted to tell them that they shouldn’t flatter themselves; Gao Cheng was not the kind of person who would show a pleasant face just out of respect for someone.’
But seeing his parents looking so enthusiastic, he ultimately didn’t spoil their mood.
Father Shi looked at Shi Yanzhou and gave specific instructions.
“Whatever the reason, since you have caught his attention, look for more opportunities to get closer to him at school in the future.”
“Once you become close friends with him, our Shi family’s business can elevate to another level.”
Shi Yanzhou nodded.
“Mm, I’ll do my best to find opportunities to blend into their circle.”
Mother Shi smiled in satisfaction; no matter how she looked at her own son, she felt he was superior to everyone else’s.
She picked up a pork rib and placed it in Shi Yanzhou’s bowl, her actions gentle and her gaze doting.
Shi Kezhen quietly ate her food, not interjecting a single word throughout the entire process.

After lunch, Father Shi returned to the company.
Shi Yanzhou made an excuse and went out to play as well.
Mother Shi had a card game in the afternoon; she changed into the latest seasonal suit, grabbed her designer handbag, and headed out in her high heels.
In the vast Shi house, aside from the servants, Shi Kezhen was finally left all alone.
She returned to her room, locking the door out of habit.
The very first thing she did was take out her phone and switch to the Privacy Space.
“Ding, ding, ding…”
The phone chimed several times in succession.
[09:33]
– Cheng: [Wifey, are you up yet?]
– Cheng: [Call me when you wake up, I’ll play games with my wifey.]
[10:30]
– Cheng: [Still not up? Looks like last night really wore you out. Don’t tease me like that next time, or your husband won’t be able to hold back.]
Shi Kezhen’s face grew slightly warm.
‘This guy, it was clearly him who…’
‘Yet he turns around and blames her for teasing him; he really takes advantage and plays innocent.’
[11:53]
– Cheng: [Image]
– Cheng: [It’s lunchtime, still not out of bed?]
Shi Kezhen tapped on the image to look, unable to help but let out a surprised “huh?”
It was actually a table of Cantonese cuisine.
