Join the ServerYin Kang Xuehan’s sudden change in attitude left Qin Yangjun somewhat bewildered.
She had just refused him so decisively; why the abrupt agreement now?
Moreover, she looked as if she had been coerced into it.
Heaven knows, he had no such intentions this time.
So, he asked tentatively.
“Are you sure? Don’t force yourself.”
“Not… at… all… forced!”
Yin Kang Xuehan ground out each word through clenched teeth.
From her perspective, Qin Yangjun had gained the upper hand.
She imagined he was probably laughing up his sleeve, and this question was just a pretense.
To avoid any trouble, Qin Yangjun decided not to question her reluctant acceptance.
Her willingness to help was a good thing, regardless.
Now, he was completely confident.
“Alright, then. Follow my lead in a moment.”
Yin Kang Xuehan shot Qin Yangjun a sidelong glance.
“Don’t underestimate me. Isn’t it just a matter of distracting those Beast Kings so you can escape? Do you really need to give commands for something so simple?”
Qin Yangjun gave Yin Kang Xuehan a look filled with deeper meaning.
“When did I say I was planning to escape?”
His words left Yin Kang Xuehan stunned.
“Not escape? What are you planning? Surely you don’t intend to kill them, do you?”
Qin Yangjun raised an eyebrow, the implication clear.
Yin Kang Xuehan’s beautiful eyes widened in disbelief.
“You’re mad. Utterly mad. You think far too highly of my abilities. It would be a stroke of immense luck if I could even ensure your safe departure, and you want to kill them? Unless your sister were here herself, or one of the great cultivators from your sect made a move, it’s impossible!”
Qin Yangjun didn’t offer any lengthy explanations.
“You said you’d help me. Are you a woman of your word?”
“I did say I would help you, but not to throw my life away.”
Qin Yangjun’s expression remained indifferent.
“I don’t need you to confront the Beast Kings. You won’t even have to show yourself. All I require is for you to use your clan’s innate divine ability at the critical moment to control them for a short time.”
“Good. Since you’re not objecting, I’ll take that as a yes.”
Qin Yangjun spoke so quickly he gave Yin Kang Xuehan no room to object.
“Who—”
Before Yin Kang Xuehan could finish, Qin Yangjun cut her off again.
“Ah Ling is wearing a spiritual defense treasure I gave her; you can’t take her by force. If I don’t leave, do you think she will? If something goes wrong then, I’m afraid you and the sister you’ve just found will be separated by life and death.”
“You’re ruthless…”
Qin Yangjun had completely seized upon her weakness.
Yin Kang Xuehan now had no fight left in her.
Since it had come to this, she was rather curious to see just how Qin Yangjun planned to kill these eight Beast Kings.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Just then, a gale suddenly whipped up around them, and the branches of the Fusang Tree had all withered away.
As the final wisp of spiritual energy entered Ah Ling’s body, the Fusang Tree behind her collapsed with a deafening crash.
The once-divine tree was now nothing more than a pile of rotten wood.
With a surge of spiritual energy, Ah Ling opened her eyes, a sharp glint flashing within them.
Her entire aura had grown profoundly deep and powerful.
Just as Qin Yangjun had expected, Ah Ling had used the Fusang Tree’s spiritual energy to break through to the Void Grotto Realm.
At that moment, the eight powerful auras behind them were drawing ever closer.
Qin Yangjun glanced back and said calmly:
“Let’s go. This isn’t the place to make our move.”
After passing where the Fusang Tree had stood, the trio walked a short distance further before a massive, crimson stone gate blocked their path.
Flanking the gate were two enormous statues.
They appeared to be two giant crows, except these crows each had three legs.
“Statues of the Three-legged Golden Crow…”
Yin Kang Xuehan stared at the statues, completely captivated.
The Three-legged Golden Crow was a divine beast of the upper realms, perhaps even the pinnacle of yang-aspected beasts.
Legend held that its light could illuminate the cosmos and its flames could purge all evil obstacles; its power was said to be terrifyingly immense.
However, it seemed no one had ever truly seen one; descriptions of it were mostly confined to legend.
Yin Kang Xuehan grew more certain that this place was connected to the legendary Golden Crow.
She wanted to get closer to examine the gate and statues, but Qin Yangjun blocked her path before she could take two steps.
“If you rush over there so recklessly, do you believe you’ll be a roasted fox in the next second?”
Thanks to Qin Yangjun’s Scarlet Fire Token, they had bypassed all the dangers along the way, causing her to lower her guard.
Qin Yangjun’s words served as a stark reminder, and Yin Kang Xuehan immediately halted.
She had almost forgotten that she was in a perilous ruin.
After stopping, she extended her spiritual sense to investigate, but aside from a searing heat, she could detect nothing else.
Yet, she didn’t dare test it.
Qin Yangjun’s expression didn’t seem like he was lying.
Her previous injuries had not yet healed.
If there was indeed a danger that could gravely injure her, as Qin Yangjun suggested, she would be unable to protect her sister, let alone herself.
She looked at Qin Yangjun with a hint of suspicion.
“How are you so familiar with this place?”
Qin Yangjun offered no explanation, because he couldn’t.
Instead, he changed the subject.
“The Beast Kings are about to arrive. Let’s hide first.”
Qin Yangjun led Ah Ling to a hidden corner, where she began to form hand seals, constructing a concealment array.
Ah Ling had learned this array from the Seventh Elder. As long as those within it didn’t circulate their spiritual energy, not even a Mahayana Realm cultivator could detect their presence.
Yin Kang Xuehan glanced at the statues, hesitated for a moment, then walked over to join them.
As Ah Ling uttered the final character, an array formed at their feet, and the three of them gradually vanished from sight.
Not long after, eight immense auras descended upon the area, their grumbling voices audible even from a distance.
“There’s nothing on this path but demonic beasts. Is that Great Peng King an idiot? Did he really go to all this trouble setting up arrays just to trap these things?”
“The Great Peng King wouldn’t do something meaningless. There must be something good in these ruins.”
“Speaking of which, that pile of rotten wood back at the entrance contained a trace of blazing flame power. It’s a shame it has almost completely dissipated. Maybe we’re too late? Could the Platinum Great Peng clan have already moved or destroyed everything here?”
“Impossible! Every notable member of the Platinum Great Peng clan is now a corpse. Those small fries who escaped are being hunted by our subordinates as we speak. They can barely protect themselves, how would they have time to come here?”
“Then this is truly strange.”
“Let’s see what lies deeper in these ruins.”
“…”
While the Beast Kings chattered amongst themselves, a small blue butterfly flew in and settled in an inconspicuous corner.
