Chapter 51: The Unmasking at the Banquet

The Peak Master’s message sent a tremor through everyone present.

A silent alarm rang in their minds; the demon race had even infiltrated the City Lord’s Manor.

But as disciples of the Yuqian Sect, their composure was commendable.

None of their astonishment showed on their faces.

At that moment, Yin Kang Xuehan had no energy to spare for the people below.

She was genuinely starting to panic, yet she still managed to force a smile.

She told herself that Qin Yangjun’s glance had been a mere coincidence.

If he had truly discovered them, swords would have already been drawn.

“Young Master Qin, I’m afraid I don’t quite understand what you’re saying.”

“Very well. If you wish to play the fool, then take a look at this!”

With that, Qin Yangjun tossed out a Projection Stone, displaying the scene of Jiang Yanfeng being beaten.

When the two attendants had attacked, both Peak Masters and deacons had noticed their unnatural movements.

The primary reason Mu Xianxian had sent the four of them was precisely their experience in battling the demon race.

Certain instinctual movements of the demon race are impossible to conceal in combat.

The four of them came to a sudden realization.

‘So, he had noticed it back then.’

They never expected such a trip to yield such a discovery.

In a way, their Young Master was truly blessed by the heavens.

Upon seeing the images, Yin Kang Xuehan’s face turned ashen.

She had to admit it—she was exposed.

‘These useless fools! To make a move within the city was one thing, but to leave such a glaring flaw!’

“Everyone has seen it. I trust no further explanation is needed.”

Qin Yangjun turned to gaze at the figure on the dais, his eyes filled with cold indifference.

“And now…”

Since he needed to be taught a lesson, Qin Yangjun decided to use this opportunity to put him in his place.

He had already devised a punishment for Zhuang Hancheng.

It was simple: raise his taxes!

‘The more ‘friends’ you have, the higher your taxes. Let’s see if you still dare to form factions then.’

However, the ‘Zhuang Hancheng’ on the dais burst into laughter.

What was most startling was that ‘his’ laughter was unexpectedly crisp and clear, transforming entirely into the voice of a woman.

“Hahahaha! Excellent! It seems I have underestimated you! I concede. As expected of Young Master Qin, you haven’t sullied your sister’s name.”

“Attack!”

The two Peak Masters roared in unison!

In an instant, a tempest of violent spiritual energy swept through the hall.

Every Yuqian Sect disciple drew their sword and charged, as hidden demons burst forth from the rafters and doorways to meet them.

The two groups clashed in a brutal melee, and in a flash, blood splattered everywhere.

The once-festive banquet had instantly transformed into a bloody battlefield.

Qin Yangjun stood in the center of it all, utterly dumbfounded.

‘What… the…?’

‘This… this…’

While Qin Yangjun was still reeling, Yin Kang Xuehan lunged, her claws slashing toward him.

Her sharp talons tore through the air, aimed straight for his neck.

Ah Ling and Yu Lingyue were the first to react.

They threw themselves in front of Qin Yangjun, drawing their swords to block the attack.

A violent collision of spiritual energy sent all three of them flying backward.

Having not circulated his spiritual energy for defense, Qin Yangjun was thrown even farther, crashing headfirst into the pond outside the hall.

An icy shock shot through him as he floundered to his feet.

“What the… hell… cough, cough!”

The moment Qin Yangjun raised his head, a chilling glint of light appeared above him.

The faces of the two Peak Masters changed drastically.

Shaking off their opponents, they rushed toward Qin Yangjun, one of them shouting—

“Young Master, look out!”

The splash of cold water finally snapped Qin Yangjun back to his senses.

He hurriedly began to circulate his spiritual energy, forming a protective barrier around himself.

However, the moment it met Yin Kang Xuehan’s hand, his spiritual barrier shattered instantly.

Her sharp claws swiped directly at the crown of his head.

In that split second, a graceful white figure flashed by, and Ah Ling embraced Qin Yangjun from behind.

Ah Ling had unleashed the full extent of her demonic power.

Her hat was gone, revealing a pair of fox ears and a fluffy tail.

The tips of her hair swirled with a faint white spiritual energy.

‘The Heavenly Fox bloodline!’

At that moment, Yin Kang Xuehan’s eyes widened.

Her descending hand froze just inches from Ah Ling’s head.

The instant Yin Kang Xuehan paused, the two Peak Masters were upon her, forcing her back.

Before Yin Kang Xuehan could make another move, a furious roar echoed from the sky.

“You filthy beasts! How dare you plot against me, the City Lord!”

A colossal, blood-red palm print descended from above, slamming down right where Yin Kang Xuehan stood.

Boom!

The tremendous explosion sent a shockwave that threw nearby Yuqian Sect disciples and demons alike into the air.

The next moment, countless armored soldiers leaped in from outside, joining the fray.

What had been a tense stalemate immediately turned into a one-sided slaughter.

Yin Kang Xuehan spat out a mouthful of blood.

A glance around told her the tide had turned against them.

Suddenly, a golden rope fell from the sky, instantly binding Yin Kang Xuehan.

At the other end of the rope was a middle-aged man dressed in a robe of white and gold.

‘Zhuang Hancheng… To think he escaped at a time like this.’

Yin Kang Xuehan’s expression was grim.

The rope was at least a seventh-grade spiritual artifact; breaking free would be nearly impossible.

‘There’s no other way!’

Her face hardened with resolve, and a cry tinged with pain escaped her lips.

A surge of energy erupted from her body as a pillar of white light shot toward the heavens.

When the light faded, Yin Kang Xuehan was gone, leaving only a severed, bloody fox tail behind.

The middle-aged man in the sky frowned deeply.

“A Heavenly Fox… No wonder the Demon-Suppressing Stele didn’t react. There’s no record of one…”

Meanwhile, with the arrival of the armored guards, the battle had concluded.

The bodies of over a dozen demons littered the ground.

Thanks to their prior warning, the Yuqian Sect disciples had mostly sustained only minor injuries.

Qin Yangjun wiped his face, feeling as though he’d just been on a rollercoaster.

The turn of events had completely blindsided him.

‘Was that woman just now Yin Kang Xuehan?’

‘Why would she come to the City Lord’s Manor to assassinate me?’

‘I have no quarrel with her. This was the first time we’d even met.’

“Senior Brother!”

“Senior Brother, are you alright?”

Hua Yaoyao and Yu Lingyue rushed to Qin Yangjun’s side to help him up.

Qin Yangjun waved them off.

“I’m fine… I’m fine…”

Thud!

Just then, a soft thud sounded from behind.

Qin Yangjun turned to see Ah Ling collapsed on the ground, unconscious.

His expression shifted.

He quickly scooped Ah Ling into his arms, about to check her condition.

Just then, the real Zhuang Hancheng landed before him, a host of armored guards assembling behind him.

He then dropped to one knee in a salute, and the guards behind him knelt in unison.

“I was late. Please punish me, Young Master!”

Even with his slow reaction time, Qin Yangjun understood the situation now.

Anxiety warred with a rising tide of irritation within him.

“You’ve gathered so many forces, yet your own manor ends up like this. You’re a joke of a City Lord! I don’t have time for you now. Go clean up your own mess.”
