Join the ServerThe Death-Life Talisman.
A highly peculiar, single-use talisman, capable of both saving and ending lives.
Once activated and locked onto a target, if one possessed no means to resist the Great Dao, their very life and death would rest solely on the wielder’s whim.
Yet, to defy the Great Dao would require either an immortal artifact or an immortal technique—and if he possessed either, why would he be cornered by Zhuang Hancheng in this very region of Canggu City?
At this moment, Little Peng King was truly seized by panic.
“Heavenly Fox King, calm yourself… calm down. Everything can be negotiated. We are of the same kind; there’s no need for such a deadly confrontation!”
“Hmph, once the arrow is loosed, there is no turning back! Farewell, you foolish bird!”
“Die!”
With a sharp cry from Yin Kang Xuehan, the Death-Life Talisman in her hand flipped, its entire surface consumed by blackness as a dark, suffocating aura instantly swallowed Little Peng King.
“Aaaaaaaaaah!!!!”
Piercing screams echoed within the dark confines, and just before Little Peng King’s demise, his overflowing demonic energy coalesced into a colossal storm, sweeping away everything in its vicinity.
Had Qin Yangjun and Ah Ling not anchored themselves to the ground with their spiritual energy, they too would likely have been swept skyward.
Just as the storm reached its zenith,
the demonic energy abruptly dissipated, and Little Peng King’s aura swiftly withered before vanishing entirely.
The debris that had been swept into the sky now rained down like a sudden shower.
Concurrently, the ominous black mist also rapidly receded.
In mere moments, approximately two breaths’ worth of time, all traces of the black mist vanished, revealing a colossal eagle with platinum and white feathers lying lifeless on the ground.
Yin Kang Xuehan gasped for breath, her chest heaving, before her body went slack and she collapsed to the ground.
Already wounded, she had expended nearly all her demonic energy in the few exchanges with Little Peng King.
She had forcefully activated the Death-Life Talisman.
Now, the demonic energy within her had been utterly drained.
‘That damnable Qin Yangjun is to blame!’
Her thoughts turning to him, she cast a venomous glare towards the not-so-distant figure.
And yet, Qin Yangjun strolled leisurely with Ah Ling, approaching Little Peng King’s corpse with unhurried steps.
Yin Kang Xuehan instantly grasped his intention, slamming her fist against the ground in frustration.
“Bastard! I was the one who killed him!”
Qin Yangjun offered no reply, merely granting her a smile before, in full view of Yin Kang Xuehan, he rummaged through the corpse and produced a gleaming orb in his hand.
Upon securing Little Peng King’s storage orb, Qin Yangjun did not immediately put it away.
Instead, he deliberately lifted it and shook it, as if flaunting his prize directly before Yin Kang Xuehan.
Qin Yangjun’s provocative actions infuriated Yin Kang Xuehan to such an extent that she longed to charge forward and tear him apart, yet she found herself utterly devoid of strength.
She had sacrificed a Death-Life Talisman to slay Little Peng King, a potent artifact that was her ultimate trump card, a single-use item now gone forever.
Not only was her trump card gone, but she was now forced to watch helplessly as her spoils of war were claimed by another.
And the one who took them even dared to gloat in her presence.
The thought sent a fresh surge of fury coursing through Yin Kang Xuehan’s veins.
She forcibly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Witnessing this, Qin Yangjun finally pocketed the orb.
Initially, Qin Yangjun had approached with goodwill, for Ah Ling’s sake, desiring no enmity with Yin Kang Xuehan.
Yet, he too possessed a temper.
While her assassination attempt might not have been her conscious choice, the fact remained that she had attacked him; how could he not exact a small measure of retribution?
Ah Ling, standing beside him, could not help but chuckle.
‘My young master is truly mischievous. Not only does he take advantage of others, but he also delights in twisting the knife.’
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Just then, a series of heavy footsteps reverberated from nearby, prompting Qin Yangjun to turn and observe dozens of armored soldiers rapidly advancing towards their position.
These were likely the city guards, drawn by the commotion of the battle.
Yin Kang Xuehan gasped in alarm; utterly drained and powerless, she knew that capture by these armored men would surely lead to her being hacked to pieces.
‘For a mighty Great Demon of the Mahayana realm to perish at the hands of obscure foot soldiers…’
The mere thought filled Yin Kang Xuehan with a bitter mix of indignation and injustice.
Qin Yangjun glanced at the approaching soldiers behind him, then at Yin Kang Xuehan.
A faint smile touched his lips.
“Remember, you owe me a life.”
With a flick of his wrist, spiritual energy converged, conjuring a fierce gust of wind that tore open the great doors and swept Yin Kang Xuehan out along with it.
Yin Kang Xuehan’s eyes widened in disbelief as she watched Qin Yangjun rapidly distance himself from her.
She could not fathom why this individual would save her.
This turn of events left even Ah Ling utterly bewildered.
“Young master, she tried to assassinate you earlier. Why did you save her?”
‘I have many questions regarding her—for instance, why she held back before, and why she chose to save us. To simply kill her now would be far too hasty.’
‘As I am caught within this unfolding narrative, there are certain details I should not yet know. Therefore, it is best for the sisters’ reunion to proceed as the plot dictates; a direct revelation would defy logic.’
‘Moreover, it might lead to unforeseen plot developments, which is precisely what Qin Yangjun wishes to avoid.’
“So that’s how it is…”
Ah Ling nodded thoughtfully, her unwavering support for her young master’s decisions a given.
A deep hum!
Suddenly, a profound resonant hum filled the air, causing Qin Yangjun, Ah Ling, and even the newly arrived armored guards to blanch.
Everyone felt an immensely terrifying presence unfurl across the sky, making the very air around them tremble.
In unison, they involuntarily lifted their gazes skyward.
There, in the heavens, a colossal golden phantom materialized, resembling a warrior clad in battle armor, wielding a longsword in one hand, while a saber, a spear, and a halberd—three immense weapons—floated behind him.
Its dreadful might was akin to a celestial deity descending to the mortal realm; a single glance was enough to perceive the phantom’s boundless power.
Qin Yangjun stood rooted to the spot, his eyes wide with profound shock.
‘The Heaven-Slaying Divine Shadow!’
‘The dormant power within Yu Lingyue’s bloodline has been awakened!’
Even as Qin Yangjun reeled in shock, the phantom, sword in hand, cleaved downwards.
The immense blade, imbued with boundless might, then plunged into the earth, sending forth torrents of golden light.
BOOM!!!!
A blinding white radiance erupted, engulfing nearly a fifth of the city and everyone present within its devastating embrace.
Far away, at the western gate, Zhuang Hancheng, locked in fierce combat, felt his entire body shudder.
The Demon King he was battling was also startled; a sudden surge of demonic energy caused the Demon King’s expression to shift dramatically.
Uttering a low curse in a language Zhuang Hancheng could not comprehend, the Demon King abruptly turned and departed.
Simultaneously, as if receiving a command, all the other demons retreated en masse.
The sudden turn of events left the defending forces utterly bewildered.
Zhuang Hancheng remained ignorant of the cause, but the unfolding situation within the city filled him with growing urgency.
Not long ago, he had sensed the auras of not one, but two Demon Kings.
He no longer had the presence of mind to ponder why the Demon-Suppressing Stele had remained inert; his paramount concern now was Qin Yangjun’s safety and whether he had been caught in that recent upheaval.
‘If something were to befall him…’
Zhuang Hancheng dared not dwell on the thought, instead whirling around and rushing towards the source of the golden light.
