Join the ServerYu Lingyue didn’t notice Qin Yangjun’s stunned look.
She finished her spear flourish and planted the weapon in the ground. Then she put her hands on her hips and looked at the spear.
“Senior Brother, I can’t tell the grade of this spear. You’re well-traveled, take a look for me.”
“Ninth grade.”
Qin Yangjun snapped back to reality and answered without hesitation.
“Oh… wait, what? Ninth grade?”
Yu Lingyue didn’t react at first. In her eyes, this spear could at most be sixth or seventh grade.
Ninth grade?
“That’s right.”
Qin Yangjun gave a firm answer.
Given Yu Lingyue’s constitution, the weapon spirit inside would awaken on its own before long. She’d know everything then.
So there was no need to hide it.
But he couldn’t just say it was a celestial artifact either. Without awakening the spirit, an immortal weapon couldn’t be identified by appearance alone. Yu Lingyue didn’t know that, but the spirit of this Soul-Calming Spear certainly did.
Qin Yangjun didn’t want to reveal anything about the Golden Crow Banner.
So answering ‘ninth grade’ was the safest option.
“So it’s a top-grade spiritual weapon…”
Yu Lingyue stared at the Soul-Calming Spear. Her voice held a hint of awe, but she quickly pulled herself together.
There wasn’t much of a smile on her face. A thousand thoughts raced through her mind.
Finally, she bit her lip slightly, as if she had made a decision.
The next second, she picked up the spear and handed it to Qin Yangjun.
Qin Yangjun was taken aback.
“Junior Sister, what are you…”
“Senior Brother, if not for you, I would never have gotten this spiritual weapon. I already obtained the Ethereal Step. I don’t have the face to take this weapon too. So I want to give it to you…”
In Yu Lingyue’s eyes, all of this started because Qin Yangjun gave the Cold Water to Hua Yaoyao.
Moreover, the fate was originally meant for Hua Yaoyao. If Hua Yaoyao hadn’t brought her along, she wouldn’t have even gotten the Ethereal Step.
And later, if Qin Yangjun hadn’t sacrificed himself, they might not have escaped from that black mist.
Her senior brother had contributed the most, yet got nothing in return and ended up injured.
Thinking about it, Yu Lingyue felt deeply sorry.
But that wasn’t the only reason for her decision.
A ninth-grade weapon was extremely rare in all of Dayu Prefecture. She was just a mere Foundation Establishment cultivator, even if she was a disciple of the Imperial Sect, she would still be targeted.
After mulling it over, she felt she should hand the spear over to the senior brother.
On the other side, Qin Yangjun looked at the Soul-Calming Spear in front of him. Outwardly calm, inside he was screaming.
Even if you give it to me, I can’t take it!!
After hesitating a few seconds, he cleared his throat twice, pushed the spear back to Yu Lingyue, and spoke with righteous indignation.
“Since you got it, it means you have a connection with it. How could I, as your senior brother, take something that belongs to my junior sister? Keep it safe. When you get back, ask Third Elder to help you disguise it. During the Four Sect Competition, it might even catch someone off guard.”
“Senior… Brother,”
Yu Lingyue wanted to say more, but then seemed to think of something.
She smiled faintly.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
That was just how her senior brother was. He acted with integrity and honor.
Otherwise, how could she have been drawn to him?
And so, Yu Lingyue put away the Soul-Calming Spear.
Just then, a gust of wind swept by, rustling the fallen leaves.
It caught Yu Lingyue’s attention, and she finally noticed Mihua lying on the ground.
“Senior Brother, what happened to her…”
“Exhaustion. She’s just fallen into a deep sleep.”
Qin Yangjun waved his hand dismissively. He sat back down and gazed at the city in the distance.
Yu Lingyue sat down beside him without hesitation.
They were very close. Maybe it was just his imagination, but Qin Yangjun thought he could feel the warmth radiating from her clothes.
He shook his head subconsciously, trying to shake off the strange thoughts.
Earlier, when his memories had awakened, he had labeled Yu Lingyue as a future threat.
It was a twist of fate, really.
He had never imagined that he could sit so harmoniously with her on the grass, staring at the stars.
Neither of them spoke. But after a moment, Qin Yangjun let out a small burp.
He couldn’t help it. He’d eaten too much, and too fast. If Yu Lingyue hadn’t been there, that burp would have ‘echoed across the heavens’.
The sound reminded Yu Lingyue of something, and she couldn’t help but laugh.
Her laugh made Qin Yangjun realize what had happened. He turned to her with a look of grievance.
“Back at the table, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
Yu Lingyue didn’t hide it. She laughed as she spoke.
“I just thought it was fun, so I tried it. Who told you to keep showing off your charm and flirting everywhere?”
Her last words carried a hint of playfulness, and even a touch of resentment.
Qin Yangjun wasn’t the dense type. He caught the meaning immediately.
The way she acted was just like a girlfriend’s playful scolding.
He swallowed nervously and lowered his head, not daring to look at her.
He didn’t speak. He dared not.
Qin Yangjun’s reaction only made Yu Lingyue smile even brighter.
She never thought her senior brother could be so shy.
After the Heavenly Rankings tournament, hearing what he had thought of her had left her dazed for a long time.
Back then, she couldn’t be sure of her own feelings.
But since the Ancient Spirit Ruins, she understood. She had truly fallen for him.
But…
