After changing into her going-out clothes, Su Xiao Zi dragged Su Xiaoxiao out the door.
Bang. The front door shut firmly behind them.
Standing at the entrance, Su Xiao Zi unzipped the little bag hanging at her waist.
“Gotta make sure I brought the keys… yep, they’re right here.”
“No need to worry. I always have mine with me.”
Su Xiaoxiao opened her palm, revealing a key resting there.
Su Xiao Zi smiled and ruffled her head.
“As expected of my reliable big brother.”
“Hey, you can’t call me that outside anymore. People will give us weird looks.”
“Ah, right, right. I have to remember. So outside, you have to call me ‘big sister,’ okay?”
Though reluctant, that was reality to everyone else. Su Xiaoxiao had no choice.
“Yes, yes, big sister. Take good care of me out there.”
Fine. She’d play the obedient little-sister role. If it made Xiao Zi happy, indulging her once in a while was fine.
After all, Su Xiaoxiao had always doted on Su Xiao Zi.
“Of course! Let’s see… today we’re going to the department store, the amusement park, that parfait place, and then…”
“So many places? The amusement park? We’re not little kids anymore…”
“Hehe, there’s a little kid standing right next to me~”
Su Xiaoxiao was speechless.
The amusement park…
It had been ages. The last time was probably during elementary school summer vacation.
After that, she’d stayed home or hung out at arcades and basketball courts with friends. No reason to visit places swarming with children.
And then… she’d been pulled into the war against the Bloodkin.
“Fine. Today I’ll be the pampered little sister. The whole itinerary is yours.”
“Leave it to me! Oh, and from now on, let me handle everything. I still want to teach my brother—cough—teach my little sister how to dance, draw, play piano…”
“Oh, how about the guzheng? I learned a little when I was young.”
“Wait, wait, isn’t that jumping way too far ahead? You’re already planning all sorts of random things.”
“Hehe, because I want to raise my little sister into a refined, elegant lady who’s perfect at music, chess, calligraphy, and painting! Yup! That way, all the impure thoughts inside big brother will be cleansed by holy light, and you’ll become a pure, absolute beautiful girl inside and out!”
“Don’t just start your raising sim on me without permission!”
And how does playing a galge make someone impure? Apologize to otaku everywhere!
Being a refined lady didn’t matter. At her core, she was still a combat-capable Exterminator. Maintaining her fighting strength was enough. She never intended to truly become a “girl.”
Sometimes she’d stare blankly at herself in the mirror, lost in thought.
Su Xiao Zi’s ideas were getting weirder and more excited by the second. Su Xiaoxiao covered her ears and looked down at her outfit.
Su Xiao Zi wore her usual blue-and-white top with a pure white pleated skirt, but today her stockings were a bit… suggestive: white garter stockings with straps.
She didn’t usually dress like that.
In contrast, Su Xiaoxiao had a problem.
She wore a cardigan over her top—something kindergarteners usually wore.
The skirt was fine, and the leggings underneath protected her modesty, but…
Her long, slender legs were wrapped in mismatched thigh-high stockings: one black, one white.
Way too eye-catching! People would definitely stare!
Noticing Su Xiaoxiao frozen in place, Su Xiao Zi—who had walked ahead—turned back.
“What’s wrong? Embarrassed to wear my old clothes?”
“No! It’s not that. You used to wear my stuff all the time like it was natural. I’m not that bothered.”
“Then why are you staring at the skirt? Doesn’t fit?”
“It’s the stockings. One black, one white is too weird. I have to go back and change. No way I’m going out like this.”
“Nooooo, don’t!!”
Su Xiaoxiao righteously pulled out her key to reopen the door. Su Xiao Zi rushed over and grabbed her arm.
“Don’t change! It’s super cute—no one else could pull it off! This unique look is perfect for my little sister! Please, please don’t change!!”
Even though she was supposed to be the “big sister” today, she was still acting spoiled. Su Xiaoxiao’s ahoge twitched. In the end, she stepped forward and left the apartment.
“If a crowd stares at me later, I’m stripping your stockings off and wearing them myself.”
“Everyone will just think you’re adorable! No weird looks, promise! And anyway, I’m wearing garter stockings today—if you take mine off, my panties will…”
“Ah!?”
Su Xiaoxiao suddenly felt like she’d walked right into Su Xiao Zi’s trap.
Whatever! Nothing mattered today.
She’d already accepted becoming a girl—what could be harder than that?
As long as Xiao Zi was happy and smiling, Su Xiaoxiao’s heart was full.
“Let’s go~!” Su Xiao Zi cheerfully raised her hand.
Su Xiaoxiao shoved her hands into her pockets and followed her into the elevator, beginning their holiday adventure together.
Breakfast first, of course!
But then Su Xiaoxiao suddenly remembered something.
As a Bloodkin now, human food was edible and tasty, but it didn’t provide nearly enough energy to sustain her.
The food hadn’t changed; her energy consumption had.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small glass vial—about 10 mL, filled with red liquid.
What’s this?
When did…
Oh. It must’ve been when Evran sneaked into bed and clung to her… slipping it in without her noticing.
Guess that counted as thoughtful, in a way. She was technically her sire’s kin now.
The two stood quietly in the elevator as it descended floor by floor, mechanical whirring the only sound.
Su Xiao Zi tilted her head, catching the faint smile on Su Xiaoxiao’s face, and asked curiously,
“What made you smile?”
Su Xiaoxiao looked up. Su Xiao Zi had even put on pink lip gloss today for their outing—it sparkled softly.
“I was just thinking… today is going to be perfect weather.”
Big brother had returned from that hellish Otherbeast War.
And after resolving the crisis in the Imaginary Space, they were safely back to their warm, ordinary daily life.
So many happy things were happening right now.
