Chapter 12: Newfound Power

“Baro!”

“Vice Staff Officer.”

Auston swiftly turned in the air, instantly placing his hand on the sword at his waist, adopting a combat stance, and Baro immediately leaped to his side.

“Do you feel it, Baro, the owner of this aura?”

“The owner of the aura? Wait! This is… this special power.”

“Precisely. A year ago was the moment of the decisive battle between the Bloodkin and humans. Second Progenitor Smith, as the initiator, launched a plan called [Crimson Night].”

Baro certainly wouldn’t forget.

That was an important plan to counter the human Exterminator organization’s attack.

It involved plundering the power of a rare-blooded girl, the descendant of a sinner, to seek power infinitely close to that of the First Progenitor, but that plan ultimately ended in failure.

On the eve of Crimson Night, someone secretly rescued that Bloodkin girl.

Rumor had it, she was also the heir to the Thirteenth Progenitor Queen.

Auston’s face twisted grimly, as he stared intently at the pink twin-tailed girl floating behind Su Xiaoxiao—Evran.

“So it’s you… the traitorous sinner.”

“Second Progenitor Smith always thought you were dead, your whereabouts unknown for so long, and searches everywhere failed to find any trace of you. I didn’t expect you to have fled to the human world.”

Evran narrowed her eyes, and after recognizing the other party, she let out an imperceptible sneer.

“Vice Staff Officer Auston of the Rose Legion, long time no see. The last time we met, I believe, was at the Alpha Noble Academy graduation ceremony. You’re still the same, arrogant and foolish.”

“Hehehe, descendant of a sinner, you have no right to mention the Legion’s name again. A traitor indeed, not dedicating your power to Second Progenitor Smith, but instead giving it away to a human.”

“Speaking of betrayal, perhaps you’re not qualified to speak about me? Back at Alpha Academy, you were my respected senior.”

“I was once a naive junior, foolishly wanting to always follow by your side, to talk to you, to ask for advice. The trust I had in you back then seems utterly laughable now.”

“Ultimately, what was truly disappointing was that you also participated with the upper echelons in setting a trap for me.”

There was a hint of regret and indignation in Evran’s tone; she was the one who had suffered betrayal.

If she had never known the truth, she would undoubtedly have become a high-ranking Bloodkin fighting against humans, and would certainly have joined a powerful legion, becoming one of its mainstays.

But Second Progenitor Smith had bared his fangs at her, to fulfill his so-called grand imperial ambitions.

She now belonged to only one person.

To only one human.

Auston curved his lips into a sinister smile, saying in a provocative tone, “To be of assistance to Lord Smith, that should be the only contribution a sinner’s descendant can make to atone for their sins.”

“Now that you’ve appeared before me again, don’t even think about escaping.”

Evran’s eyes instantly grew cold.

Completely different from her previous mischievous personality, her emotions gradually subsided; she seemed serious, her gaze like a cold sword light, piercing directly through Auston’s body.

“Oh? Is that so? The ones who can’t escape are you.”

“Heh heh, do you think your power, in a human, can truly be wielded? We are from the Rose Legion. So what if a human gains a tiny bit of Bloodkin power? He is ultimately not one of us noble Bloodkin.”

“No, she can—want to try and see?”

“Hehehe…” Auston displayed an arrogant, disdainful expression.

No wonder he possessed such a vast aura; it was the Thirteenth Bloodline after all. But what did that matter? Power relying on a human did not require any respect or noble etiquette.

Auston merely waved his hand to signal, and Baro, his subordinate, drew his long sword from his waist. Several thorny vines wrapped around his wrist, drawing blood from his body, and the sword blade gradually turned crimson.

“Die!” Baro instantly thrust his sword, a powerful surge of air exploding behind him as he charged forward.

Su Xiaoxiao’s eyes were cold, watching Baro’s figure rapidly flying towards her, taking in his every movement.

The next moment.

A gust of wind swept past, and Baro’s ears instantly rang with tinnitus.

The human before him suddenly vanished from his sight.

Without him even realizing it, a small, pale hand had already pressed onto his head. The girl floating in the air had silently teleported, a pair of blood-red wings burning behind her.

“That sentence, I return it to you.”

With a “boom,” accompanied by the sound of bones shattering and limbs twisting, an irreversible force erupted from the small hand. Baro’s neck let out a crisp snapping sound.

“Wh—” Baro didn’t even have time to realize what had happened; he only horrifyingly discovered that his field of vision had instantly undergone an earth-shattering change.

And the next moment, what he saw before his eyes was, astonishingly, his own body!

‘Why, what’s going on?’

Baro’s eyes showed a bewildered incomprehension; he stared at his body, and his field of vision was gradually lowering, falling.

His body was spewing a fountain of blood, and his head was slowly falling from the air.

Su Xiaoxiao was expressionless. Before Baro’s head could hit the ground, her feet had already spun sharply, and she mysteriously flashed directly in front of Auston.

“You animal!”

Auston unleashed his full aura behind him, drawing the blade from his waist almost instantly, and swung it fiercely forward.

Su Xiaoxiao had no weapon; she had not yet grasped the ways to use Bloodkin power. At this moment, she only knew how to use this astonishing brute force in battle, wantonly wielding this violent power.

But Auston was clearly a level stronger than Baro; his sword drawing speed and ferocity were a dimension faster.

If she were struck by this sword, Su Xiaoxiao would undoubtedly suffer a heavy blow.

But at this critical juncture, a blood-red scythe clashed with Auston’s long sword with a loud “bang,” and a resonating metallic clang echoed in the air.

Evran’s long hair fluttered, her eyes filled with endless rage, as she blocked Auston’s sword with her scythe in front of Su Xiaoxiao.

“…” Su Xiaoxiao did not miss this opportunity. Decisively, the moment Evran blocked Auston’s blade, she changed her stance, delivering a booming spinning kick in the air.

Auston simultaneously fought two Bloodkin; his earlier carelessness had cost him. This spinning kick landed squarely on his jaw.

“Ugh!” Auston’s body was knocked back by the powerful impact, sliding over ten meters backwards down the corridor. He barely managed to regain his footing at the very end of the corridor, just before falling off the building.

His vision also became strangely distorted.

Auston’s blood-red eyes widened, clearly enraged. He reached out with both hands, clutching his jaw and the top of his head, then with a sudden “crack,” twisted his dislocated head back into place.

“This is impossible…”

“Damn livestock, despicable human, to actually wound me…!”
