Chapter 119: The Morning After

The servants in the manor had, of course, prepared Wade’s breakfast. It was already well past his usual time for work, and they hesitated, wondering whether they should rouse him. After all, Wade’s schedule was meticulously regular; he had never once been late.

Yet, today felt strangely different. Wade remained in bed, having given no prior notice the night before.

The manor’s staff pondered what might have befallen their master. Should they wake him?

Upon further consideration, however, they found themselves wavering. Wade had only recently married, his marriage certificate still fresh in hand. His wife was, by all accounts, a newlywed, still within the honeymoon period.

Young people, they mused, were prone to certain fiery passions; such matters were entirely normal.

What if their intrusion now led to something rather awkward?

What if their well-intentioned alertness disturbed their master’s ‘good fortune’?

It was also possible, they thought, that the previous night had been exceptionally busy, leaving him utterly exhausted. As the saying goes, they had just married, and activities that required significant physical exertion were perfectly natural.

The manor’s staff decided to wait a little longer—perhaps another half an hour. If, after that time, there was still no sign of movement from the upstairs occupants, they would gently knock on the door and inquire.

After all, safety remained paramount.

Unexpectedly, before they even had a chance to knock and ask, Wade and Lamia emerged.

Wade was still cradling Lamia, his head nestled against her chest. His golden hair, having been thoroughly slept on, now looked delightfully disheveled.

Lamia, on the other hand, appeared remarkably refreshed. Her cheeks were flushed, her large eyes sparkled with vitality, and she gently disentangled herself from Wade’s embrace.

She then hurried to the old butler, requesting breakfast for them both, as they were ravenous.

She bounced with energy, looking quite spirited as she walked out of the room, draped in Wade’s clothes.

Wade, however, seemed somewhat haggard. The primary reason was the nightmare he had endured; it had significantly soured his mood and left his complexion rather pale.

Lamia’s complexion, conversely, was quite radiant, and her expression held a subtle hint of satisfaction. This was largely because she had slept exceptionally well.

For someone who rarely slept more than five minutes, managing several hours of sleep was a profound joy. Coupled with Wade’s flustered reactions to her teasing, Lamia felt an inexplicable delight.

As she had mused before, she had always considered dying in his arms a beautiful dream. Thus, even if her current feelings were a little conflicted, Lamia savored the moment.

Yet, from the perspective of the few servants who had experienced such matters themselves, the stark difference in their expressions surely signaled that *something* had transpired.

Their master, they concluded, must have been exceptionally diligent last night.

And their mistress, undoubtedly, had been thoroughly cherished.

‘Oh, my, my,’ they whispered. ‘Perhaps before long, new additions will grace this household!’

A beautiful little girl, perhaps, or a charming little boy. Would their first child be a son or a daughter?

If fortune smiled upon them, might they even welcome two children at once?

Perhaps twins, a boy and a girl, a perfect pair.

Yet, seeing such a blissful couple, they couldn’t help but indulge in such fantasies.

A son resembling Lady Lamia, and a daughter inheriting Wade’s features—just imagining it revealed the exceptional children that such outstanding genes could produce.
