Chapter 121: The Collapsing Seals and the Emergence of the Evil King

A month after Bai Mengqi’s marriage, she found herself once again at True Martial Mountain. Invited by Pure Yang True Person, she had returned as a guest, yet her heart could find no joy.

Bai Mengqi stood with a grim expression, gazing at the sealed rift within True Martial Mountain’s forbidden area. Several months had passed since the seal beneath Japan’s Mount Fuji had fractured, and now, the crack in this seal had also shown clear signs of extensive damage.

“Little Bai, do you see it? At this rate, it seems all the seals across Earth are destined to break,” Pure Yang True Person murmured, his voice heavy with despair. “An irresistible catastrophe is on the horizon.”

Bai Mengqi found herself at a loss for words, unsure how to proceed.

If even the seal here at True Martial Mountain was affected by the events in Japan, then it was highly probable that seals in other regions were also experiencing similar breaches.

“Senior, are the seals in other places facing the same problem?” Bai Mengqi inquired, her voice laced with concern.

Pure Yang True Person nodded in resignation.

“Many sects have already sent reports, stating that the seals they guard are on the verge of collapse, and that modern power is utterly incapable of stopping it.”

Bai Mengqi’s heart clenched instantly. Judging by the situation, it seemed they might not even have three years left.

‘Is this a disaster destined to unfold?’ Bai Mengqi mused aloud, a whisper of dread in her tone.

Pure Yang True Person was equally helpless, yet she knew that Bai Mengqi surely possessed a method.

“Miss Bai, if you have a solution, please do not conceal it. If there’s anything our Ability User world can do to help, please speak plainly. As long as it can prevent this catastrophe, we will cooperate fully.”

Indeed, Bai Mengqi did have a method, though its certainty was yet to be proven. It involved rapidly enhancing her strength to reach a level where she could reinforce the seals.

“There is a way, but I fear the Ability User world might be unwilling,” Bai Mengqi confessed after a moment of profound thought, finally revealing some secrets.

Upon hearing this, Pure Yang True Person’s eyes gleamed with hope.

“Is that so? Please tell me. As long as it’s within our power, I will do my utmost to assist you.”

Bai Mengqi then explained the matter of the Immortal Crystal fragments to Pure Yang True Person, even producing a piece to allow him to examine it.

Pure Yang True Person, despite discerning the rich energy contained within the fragment, showed not a hint of greed. Instead, he decisively agreed to help.

He promised that the Ability User world would assist in searching for clues related to the fragments across various locations.

All the fragments previously held by the Ability User Bureau had, by this time, been absorbed by Bai Mengqi. She now possessed a cultivation at the Golden Core stage.

Bai Mengqi had no time left to relax. With the assistance of the entire Xia Nation’s Ability User world and state agencies, she tirelessly rushed from east to west, tirelessly pursuing her fragments.

During her quest for fragments, Bai Mengqi also made a discovery: she was not the only one searching. It seemed an unknown, mysterious individual was also specifically seeking these fragments.

This was a discovery made by the Ability User Bureau during their own search for fragment clues.

Unfortunately, the other party was as elusive as a dragon, appearing and disappearing without a trace, employing highly unusual methods. To this day, their identity remained unconfirmed.

Approximately a century after the incident in Japan, a seal on a small isolated island in the Pacific Ocean was finally broken.

This seal, too, released a massive surge of spiritual energy. Fortunately, this region was far from the mainland, so its effects were largely confined to marine life.

However, this very fact meant the ocean lost its tranquility. Numerous fishing vessels venturing out to sea were attacked by colossal marine monsters.

Such incidents occurred nearly a dozen times within a single month.

Consequently, many nations prohibited their fishermen from venturing into deep-sea areas. Governments also dispatched warships to investigate, but these vessels were similarly attacked by the oceanic creatures, suffering heavy losses.

Ability users sent by various countries, during their investigations, finally discovered the isolated island and the spatial rift.

This news could no longer be concealed by any single nation. Humanity now faced a common crisis, necessitating the abandonment of national prejudices and a unified cooperative effort.

As for Japan, the nation could no longer find peace. Almost every day, there were reports of mutated monsters attacking humans.

Those with abilities within their country increasingly chose to emigrate to other nations, with people leaving the country daily.

However, most countries were unwilling to accept immigrants from Japan. The reason was simple: they feared these individuals might carry the ability virus.

A year later, Earth’s environment began to undergo incredible transformations.

An abundance of plants grew wildly, as if drenched in a powerful growth stimulant.

Many previously nonexistent plants sprouted in the sea, and even barren lands transformed into lush grasslands.

All these phenomena indicated that the spiritual energy density on Earth was continuously increasing.

On this particular day, Bai Mengqi arrived in Shancheng City.

News had arrived from the Ability User Bureau that Immortal Crystal fragments had been discovered in Shancheng City.

She rushed there with the utmost speed. If she could acquire this one, Bai Mengqi would nearly possess the cultivation of the mid-Golden Core stage.

However, this time, she encountered trouble.

Deep within a certain mountain range in Shancheng City, the Evil King released a burst of black mist, which coalesced into a massive hand. It effortlessly seized a gargantuan monster.

Within this monster’s body, astonishingly, were two Immortal Crystal fragments—a rather rare occurrence.

“Little black bear, do not resist. Hand over the fragments on your body,” the Evil King sneered wickedly.

The black bear demon roared repeatedly, barely managing to withstand the Evil King’s assault.

Just as the bear demon was about to collapse, the Evil King’s expression suddenly shifted. As if sensing something, she immediately looked eastward.

“Tch! This aura… she’s here. How unlucky.” The Evil King’s face changed. She then decisively abandoned her entanglement with the bear demon, transforming into a streak of black mist and fleeing into the distance.

Her current cultivation was only at the perfected Foundation Establishment stage. Although already formidable, she was still no match for the approaching individual.

For the approaching individual was none other than Bai Mengqi.

Bai Mengqi’s figure descended from the sky, landing atop the black bear demon.

The black bear demon’s aura was formidable, enough to contend with S-rank ability users.

Yet, with a mere wave of Bai Mengqi’s hand, the two fragments, no longer under the black bear demon’s control, flew out from its body and landed in Bai Mengqi’s palm.

The black bear demon’s aura immediately weakened, quickly plummeting to A-rank.

Bai Mengqi did not kill it. Instead, she looked in the direction the Evil King had fled.

“This aura feels so familiar,” Bai Mengqi murmured. With a sigh, she gave chase.

The Evil King felt the pursuing aura behind her and cursed under her breath. She then suddenly employed a cloning technique, splitting her body into eight, which scattered and fled in eight different directions.

Even Bai Mengqi couldn’t distinguish the true body. Thus, she arbitrarily locked onto one of the clones.

“Stop right there!” Bai Mengqi, having locked onto her target, swiftly arrived above the Evil King’s clone. She then used her powerful divine sense to suppress and immobilize the clone.

After struggling a few times, the Evil King’s clone ceased its futile resistance.

“Heh heh, Bai Mengqi, long time no see. How have you been all these years?” The Evil King greeted Bai Mengqi, who floated in the sky.

The moment Bai Mengqi saw the other party, especially after sensing the fluctuations in their aura, her expression instantly turned grave.

“It’s you, Evil King. You’re still alive.”

This was likely Bai Mengqi and the Evil King’s first encounter on Earth. Previously, Bai Mengqi had only sensed the Evil King’s aura but had failed to pursue them.

“Indeed, it is I, you wretched woman! If not for you, I wouldn’t have fallen to such a state. One day, I will repay you twofold. Just you wait, it will happen soon,” the Evil King cackled maniacally at Bai Mengqi.

Bai Mengqi disdained to waste words with him. With a squeeze, she crushed the clone into black mist.

‘I didn’t expect this fellow to still be alive. This is troublesome. It seems he’s been collecting quite a few fragments while I’ve been doing the same.’

Bai Mengqi’s unease grew.

She had not bothered to speak with the Evil King because whatever he said was pointless.

Thus, Bai Mengqi began to pursue the Evil King’s second clone.

Yet, in the end, it still managed to escape.

Bai Mengqi certainly couldn’t reveal the Evil King’s identity to others, but she did leverage the power of the Ability User Bureau to search for this individual.

The resurgence of spiritual energy, while not directly affecting Xia Nation with widespread ability infections, did lead to the emergence of numerous monsters and ability users within its borders.

As the number of ability-infused beings increased, social order began to deteriorate rapidly.

Every day, ordinary people were attacked by monsters, or ability users abused their powers, causing chaos.

Order was gradually collapsing, a problem occurring globally.

Bai Mengqi grew increasingly powerful. After reaching the Golden Core stage, she began to learn how to set up formations. Although one could set up formations during the Foundation Establishment stage, it was much more difficult then.

Upon reaching the Golden Core stage, Bai Mengqi could arrange numerous isolation formations to slow down the collapse of the various seals.

In the second year, Xia Nation began implementing new policies, eliminating rural administrative units. All villagers from surrounding areas were relocated and gathered around county towns.

There was no other choice. Xia Nation was simply too vast. If something were to happen in remote areas, government forces would be unable to respond immediately.

From the county level upwards, many ability users were stationed. The Xia Nation Ability User Bureau also extensively sought out ordinary people with cultivation potential, recruiting them into the bureau and teaching them cultivation.

Bai Mengqi had tacitly approved this measure. Only by cultivating more cultivators could they effectively face all future challenges.

As for why the Ability User Bureau took such action, it was because Earth’s current spiritual energy density was sufficient to awaken humanity’s Immortal Platforms.

Whether one could cultivate to a high realm was not important. What mattered was that even the weakest cultivator at the first layer of Qi Refinement could resist the weakest forms of infected energy.

This had been proven through experiments.

If an ordinary person’s resistance to ability energy was 0, then an ability user’s was P, and a cultivator’s was 100%.

This was also a way to leave more seeds for humanity’s survival.

And yet, this disaster was ultimately unavoidable.

Three years after the spiritual energy leak from Japan’s Mount Fuji, all seals across Earth simultaneously collapsed.

Turbulent spiritual energy surged skyward, causing the entire planet to tremble.

Some terrifying, unprecedented natural cataclysm had occurred.
