Join the ServerAs the divine power of the first arrow dissipated, cracks immediately appeared in the evil spirit’s protective barrier.
This was a strike from a peak deity, yet it failed to instantly slay the evil spirit.
This alone showed just how formidable the spirit had been in its prime.

Kikyo, her expression unreadable, nocked another arrow.
“This arrow,” she declared, “shall send you back to hell.”
The second arrow, imbued with even greater divine power, shot forth.
This time, the idol’s barrier could no longer resist; it shattered explosively amidst a blinding flash of light.
Simultaneously, a monstrous specter, its body covered in countless eyes, burst forth from the fragmented idol. It let out a savage howl directed at Kikyo.
With its idol destroyed, it lost its sanctuary and was forcibly severed from Japan’s national destiny.
“You… will all die!” The evil spirit revealed its true form: a hideous monster, its body wreathed in countless vengeful souls.
Kikyo faced the evil spirit’s menacing threat without a flicker of change in her expression.
Her hands swiftly formed seals, and a brilliant golden light erupted around her. A sacred barrier instantly unfurled, isolating the malevolent aura unleashed by the evil spirit.
“By my name,” Kikyo’s clear, cold voice resonated through the night sky, “I purify this sin and evil.”
She drew her bowstring taut once more. This time, the arrow concentrated not just divine power, but a dazzling radiance imbued with the power of purification.
The evil spirit let out an ear-splitting shriek, its colossal body lunging violently towards Kikyo.
In that critical instant, the arrow flew from the string, transforming into a streak of light that shot directly towards the evil spirit’s brow.
Boom!
Amidst a fierce explosion, the evil spirit’s body was pierced by the sacred light.
It twisted in agony, its eyes bursting one after another, as black blood—formed from vengeful energy—rained down.

Meanwhile, Bai Mengqi found herself embroiled in a bitter struggle.
The Eight-Headed Serpent’s eight heads simultaneously spewed poisonous mist, engulfing the entire shrine in a purplish-black miasma.
“Cough, cough…”
Bai Mengqi quickly held her breath, her peach wood sword glowing brightly with golden light as she conjured a barrier before her.
However, the Eight-Headed Serpent’s offensive was too ferocious. One of its heads suddenly elongated, striking fiercely against her golden protective light.
Bang!
Bai Mengqi was sent flying backward by the impact, crashing heavily against the shrine’s wall.
A sharp pain lanced through her chest, and a trace of blood spilled from the corner of her lips.
“Hahaha, little girl, now you know my true power, don’t you?”
The Eight-Headed Serpent triumphantly swayed its heads, while its remaining six heads roared in unison.
Standing in the distance, Abe Haruha’s expression flickered between uncertainty and resolve.
He both hoped the Eight-Headed Serpent would swiftly dispatch Bai Mengqi and worried about the situation with the evil spirit.
However, upon hearing the evil spirit’s anguished cries, a determined glint flashed in his eyes.
‘I can’t delay any longer…’ he murmured to himself, pulling out a blood-stained talisman.
Bai Mengqi acutely sensed the danger and forced herself to stand.
Seeing Abe Haruha’s actions, she immediately understood he was about to unleash some forbidden technique.
“Dream on!” she cried out, ignoring her injuries and channeling all her spiritual power. The lightning runes on her peach wood sword blazed to their maximum, sending a golden bolt of lightning directly towards Abe Haruha.
The Eight-Headed Serpent, witnessing this, immediately swung its tail to intercept.
But the lightning was too fast, striking the talisman in Abe Haruha’s hand in the blink of an eye.
The violent explosion sent Abe Haruha flying.
He tumbled several times on the ground, the talisman in his hand already reduced to ashes.
“Damn it!” Abe Haruha furiously pounded the earth.
He quickly looked to the other side, only to see the evil spirit’s body beginning to disintegrate under Kikyo’s continuous assaults. It wouldn’t be long before it vanished completely.
The evil spirit’s vitality was unusually tenacious, surpassing even Kikyo’s expectations.
Yet, when the fourth arrow was unleashed, the evil spirit finally let out a hideous shriek and slowly dissipated.
“We are unwilling!” The evil spirit’s mournful cry of defiance echoed before it vanished.
Its colossal body cracked apart like shattered porcelain.
Innumerable vengeful souls escaped from within it, dissipating into wisps of green smoke in Kikyo’s sacred light.
Abe Haruha sensed the evil spirit’s disappearance, his face turning utterly grim. He no longer needed to divert his attention to the idol.
With a twisted expression, he looked at Bai Mengqi.
“You, the ability user from the Summer Kingdom, will die in Japan today, no matter what. You have thoroughly enraged me.”
As his anger flared, a large portion of his power surged into the Eight-Headed Serpent’s body.
The Eight-Headed Serpent grew even more excited upon sensing this influx of power.
“Abe, well done! This is how it should be! Give me all your power! I can easily kill this woman. Such capability, within this woman! I sense the power of an immortal. She is not merely a cultivator as you called her; it is truly rare to encounter an immortal cultivator in this era!” The Eight-Headed Serpent exclaimed excitedly.
Abe Haruha mused, ‘An immortal cultivator, no wonder her power felt so unique. She’s an immortal cultivator, a lineage long extinct in the Eastern cultivation world.’
‘If I can capture her, I might even advance further,’ Abe Haruha thought, his excitement growing.
On the other side, Kikyo, seeing the evil spirit completely vanish, put away her longbow and looked towards the Eight-Headed Serpent.
“Next, it’s time to deal with that snake,” she murmured, then flashed to Bai Mengqi’s side.
“Are you alright?” Kikyo asked, glancing at the injured Bai Mengqi.
Bai Mengqi shook her head.
“This demonic entity, it’s actually that powerful?” Bai Mengqi quickly inquired.
Kikyo naturally recognized the Eight-Headed Serpent.
“This creature is one of the most powerful yokai in Japanese legend, the Eight-Headed Serpent. Thankfully, it’s not its true body. If its true body had arrived, even I wouldn’t be able to contend with it,” Kikyo explained.
Upon hearing this, Bai Mengqi felt a sense of relief.
“So that’s it. A monster from mythology, no wonder it’s so formidable.”
The Eight-Headed Serpent sensed the divine aura emanating from Kikyo, and all eight of its heads simultaneously adopted a wary expression.
“Hmph! A mere miko who transformed into a deity dares to be arrogant before me? Even if you were as strong as you were in life, I wouldn’t fear you!” the Eight-Headed Serpent scoffed, its voice filled with disdain.
Despite its words, its body instinctively retreated a few steps, and its eyes became incredibly vigilant.
It was not in its true form, and while Kikyo might not be as powerful as she was in life, divine power was still its bane.
Bai Mengqi wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and offered Kikyo a smile.
“Ah, you arrived just in time. This fellow is tough-skinned and thick-fleshed; I was struggling a bit by myself. Oh, and is the evil spirit completely dealt with?” Bai Mengqi asked.
Kikyo first nodded, then shook her head, her meaning unclear.
She drew her longbow once more, aiming at the Eight-Headed Serpent.
“Immortal, lend me your power. Relying solely on my strength, it will be difficult to eradicate its clone,” Kikyo stated.
Upon hearing this, Bai Mengqi immediately infused her golden lightning into Kikyo’s arrow.
The Eight-Headed Serpent gasped in alarm, all eight of its heads simultaneously spewing venom, flames, ice, and various other powers, attempting to stop the arrow.
But it was too late.
The arrow, imbued with multiple forces, shot from the string, tracing a magnificent golden trajectory through the air.
Wherever the arrow passed, the Eight-Headed Serpent’s attacks crumbled.
“No—”
With a shriek from the Eight-Headed Serpent, the arrow accurately struck its heart.
A dazzling light erupted, completely engulfing its massive body.
When the light dissipated, the Eight-Headed Serpent had vanished, leaving behind only Abe Haruha, who was suffering from a backlash of power.
Without divine assistance, the Eight-Headed Serpent would undoubtedly have overpowered Bai Mengqi. One could only say that those who follow the Dao receive much help, while those who stray receive little.
Abe Haruha’s face was ashen. His greatest reliance had been jointly destroyed by the two women.
Of course, given the chance, he could still summon a clone of the Eight-Headed Serpent. As for its true body, that was out of the question.
Kikyo had expended a vast amount of divine power to manifest her divine body this time, which was why Abe Haruha could perceive her.
“Legendary miko, do you know what you are doing? You are helping an ability user from another empire destroy your own nation’s destiny!” Abe Haruha exclaimed, his gaze fixed on Kikyo with resentment.
Kikyo listened to Abe Haruha’s accusations but did not argue with him; their ideologies were on entirely different planes.
“Let’s go. What needed to be done has been done. As for him, he is, after all, our country’s strongest ability user and cannot die. I hope you understand,” Kikyo said to Bai Mengqi.
Bai Mengqi let out a long sigh of relief upon hearing this.
“Ah! Don’t worry, my goal wasn’t to kill him. Besides, I don’t like killing targets with someone else’s help. If I were to kill, I’d do it myself. This time, it was purely to destroy this place.”
With that, Bai Mengqi soared into the sky and unleashed a fire-attribute spell, casting it down upon the Jingguo Shrine.
Immediately, the Jingguo Shrine was engulfed in a raging inferno.
Having accomplished all this, Bai Mengqi smiled with satisfaction.
Then, she addressed Abe Haruha: “Our battle won’t end here. Consider today my loss. I hope we don’t meet again, for if we do, you will surely die.”
After leaving this declaration, Bai Mengqi departed with Kikyo from the burning Jingguo Shrine.
Abe Haruha watched them leave, clenching his fists slightly.
He did not pursue them. Instead, before the flames could consume the shrine, he made his way to the pavilion where the idol had been.
He forcefully shattered the idol’s base, from which a jet-black orb immediately rolled out.
The orb emitted an eerie black light.
He gazed at the orb, his cold expression slowly shifting from sorrow to joy.
“Hahaha, though it’s still a tiny bit short, with just a bit more secret nurturing, it will fully form. Ability user from the Summer Kingdom, you have truly done me a great favor! Without you, I don’t know how much longer it would have taken me to obtain this item!” Abe Haruha cackled madly.
What exactly was going on? In truth, Abe Haruha’s objective was not to protect the evil spirit.
He simply wanted to utilize the evil spirit to condense a Ghost God Crystal, an item that required the fusion of spiritual and divine power to create.
If he could refine this item, Abe Haruha might be able to advance further, opening the Yellow Kingdom and summoning ghost gods.
Alternatively, he could refine and absorb the item to gain the power of a ghost god.
His assistance to the evil spirit had its own purpose; or rather, both parties were simply using each other.
