Join the ServerA few words were all it took to ignite Wolf Girl’s fighting spirit. The conjoined twin (female) Ji Wushuang felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
Wolf Girl had grown increasingly lawless and arrogant over the years, spoiled by her younger brother. This behavior deeply annoyed her.
While she yearned to teach Wolf Girl a lesson, her younger brother’s unwavering protection made it impossible. Now that the boy had arrived, she could finally use him to temper Wolf Girl’s burgeoning arrogance.
Turning his head, Ji Wushuang cast a cold glare at his conjoined twin (female), who seemed to delight in chaos. He suppressed his irritation and spoke softly to Wolf Girl.
“You entered the sect earlier than him, so your martial arts are naturally superior,” he said. “There’s no need for a contest.”
‘Was he implying that the boy would inevitably surpass her given enough time?’ Wolf Girl mused. She shook her head, her expression resolute, and spoke slowly, enunciating each word.
“I want to compete with him!”
The shift from ‘I think’ to ‘I want’ clearly indicated Wolf Girl’s unwavering determination to prove herself. Ji Wushuang narrowed his eyes slightly.
He reached out, intending to stroke her hair and offer gentle persuasion. If his disciples were at odds from the start, they would become a liability rather than an asset, and he needed to control the situation.
Wolf Girl frowned, dodging his large hand. Her eyes openly conveyed her aversion to his affectionate gesture.
Ji Wushuang’s breath hitched for a moment. He had raised this child with his own hands, pouring immense love and effort into her—treating her several times better than he treated himself.
Yet, all he received in return was her deepening rejection and disgust. How could his heart not ache?
Staring at the cold, small face before him, Ji Wushuang’s blood surged. He retracted his palm, placing it on the stone chair’s armrest, which instantly crumbled into dust.
This was a result of his emotional loss of control, an outward manifestation of his inner energy.
Witnessing the immediate destruction of the stone chair, Wolf Girl recoiled two steps, increasing the distance between them. Her expression grew even colder.
“Hmph!” Ji Wushuang scoffed, exhaling a turbid breath. He stated in a deep voice, “You may compete, but you can only use a sword, not a whip. If you agree, go down to the platform.”
‘With a sword, Wolf Girl would be no match for the boy,’ he mused, narrowing his eyes indifferently. ‘Her arrogance is too great; it’s time she was humbled.’
“I agree,” Wolf Girl coolly assented. With a light tap of her feet, she soared towards the martial arts platform.

Once Wolf Girl had departed, the conjoined twin (female) Ji Wushuang seized the opportune moment to instigate.
“Little brother,” she said sharply, “we raised her with our own hands, and now she won’t even let us touch her. It’s truly disheartening!”
Over the years, the child had gradually matured, growing more distant from them.
By now, that distance had almost transformed into aversion, a fact even the conjoined twin (female) Ji Wushuang, who usually cared little for others’ opinions, found difficult to accept.
“Children grow up and naturally want to rebel against their parents,” Ji Wushuang said calmly, retracting his leaked inner energy. “This phase will pass. Wolf Girl will always be this Venerable One’s Wolf Girl; that will never change.”
He possessed an obstinate nature, one that loved so fiercely it wished for life, and hated so intensely it wished for death. Even with his conjoined twin (female)’s persistent provocations, his affection for Wolf Girl remained undiminished.
However, he began to ponder whether he should change his approach to doting on his disciple. He had indeed been too accommodating to Wolf Girl, which had only fueled her rebelliousness.
Seeing that her younger brother remained stubbornly unyielding, and fearing that further words would only provoke his displeasure, the conjoined twin (female) Ji Wushuang fell silent. She joined him in looking down at the platform.
Wolf Girl had already leaped onto the stage, snatching a disciple’s sword. She spoke in a cold voice, “All of you, step down. I will compete with him.”
Upon hearing the chief protector’s command, everyone in the arena promptly complied. As they stepped off the platform, their gazes burned with anticipation, fixed on the two confronting each other.
Both children were considered martial arts prodigies, rarely seen in a century. Everyone yearned to know who was stronger and who was weaker.
Though Wolf Girl excelled with a whip, her swordplay was by no means weak. She executed a flourish, bringing the sword to rest horizontally before her chest, her eyes blazing with fierce fighting intent.
Facing such a formidable opponent as Wolf Girl, Shui Jingxuan knew that offense was the best defense. Therefore, unlike his usual practice of waiting for others to make the first move, he bowed slightly to Wolf Girl.
Then, his form flashed like lightning, and he swung his sword, attacking her at close range.
Wolf Girl parried with her sword. Their blades clashed, emitting crisp metallic rings and a shower of sparks, a testament to the speed and force of their strikes.
Shui Jingxuan channeled his inner energy into his sword. His three-foot azure blade was wielded with divine mastery, transforming from cleaving, hacking, and thrusting into parrying, blocking, and dodging.
His techniques were endlessly varied, combining both offense and defense seamlessly, leaving Wolf Girl no opening. In an instant, they exchanged more than twenty blows, astonishing the inner disciples below the stage.
Shui Jingxuan’s physical body had been tempered by his supernatural abilities, bestowing upon him immense strength that even robust adults struggled to withstand. Now, he was also employing his inner energy.
Though he held back slightly, it was still more than Wolf Girl could endure. Initially, they exchanged blows, trading offense for defense, but as his immense strength numbed Wolf Girl’s sword-wielding hand, she grew increasingly weary.
Several times, her sword nearly flew from her grasp, and she could only rely on sheer willpower to persevere.
While Shui Jingxuan couldn’t easily take Wolf Girl’s head as he might a few inner disciples, victory over her was inevitable. Sensing her dwindling strength and imminent defeat, he spoke softly as they passed each other.
“Let’s call it quits,” he suggested. “Perhaps we’ll be fellow disciples in the future; victory or defeat isn’t important. How about we stop here and call it a draw?”
In his mind, Wolf Girl was about to become his senior sister and was deeply favored by Ji Wushuang. He couldn’t afford to offend her.
To start off on the wrong foot on his first day would be highly disadvantageous; it would be better to do her a favor for easier future interactions.
However, in Wolf Girl’s eyes, raised in the wild where everything was black or white, right or wrong, his actions were nothing short of an insult. A loss was a loss, a win was a win; there was no need for concealment, much less charity.
Shui Jingxuan’s words utterly wounded her pride and enraged her. She fiercely knocked aside Shui Jingxuan’s sword tip, bent her legs, and retreated, widening the distance between them.
Her beautiful, youthful face radiated killing intent. As Wolf Girl’s sword nearly slipped from her grasp, Ji Wushuang had already straightened up, intending to call a halt.
Just as he was about to speak, he saw Wolf Girl swiftly retreat, discard her sword, and draw the snakeskin whip from her waist.
“Haha, interesting!” the conjoined twin (female) Ji Wushuang exclaimed, clapping her hands and letting out a sharp, delighted laugh. “I never thought the boy could push Wolf Girl to this extent! This is going to be fun!”
“Enough! Stop!” Ji Wushuang had no mind to humor his conjoined twin (female), who seemed to revel in chaos. He roared towards the platform, channeling his inner energy.
Shui Jingxuan hesitated for a moment upon hearing his rebuke. Wolf Girl, however, was in a furious rage, ignoring all else. She brandished the snakeskin whip, making it crackle through the air, and rapidly attacked him.
Ji Wushuang saw Wolf Girl disobeying his command and was about to rise to intervene, but he suddenly changed his mind. He wanted to see how much more potential the boy possessed, and if he could cope against Wolf Girl’s unparalleled Shadowless Whip.
With this thought, he curved his lips into a slight smile, then leaned back comfortably, raising a hand to stop the elders below the stage who were moving to separate the two.
In a mere moment of distraction, Shui Jingxuan’s arm was flayed open by the whip’s tip, leaving a hideous bloody mark on his coarse white robe.
Shui Jingxuan hastily raised his sword to defend, but as the saying goes, ‘an inch longer, an inch stronger; an inch shorter, an inch more perilous.’ A three-foot azure blade was inherently at a disadvantage against a long snakeskin whip.
Even as he blocked with all his might, avoiding the whip’s body, he still couldn’t escape being grazed by its tail. His white robe quickly became tattered and blood-stained.
‘Damn Wolf Girl! Her strikes are even more venomous than mine!’ Shui Jingxuan gritted his teeth, secretly seething, enduring the searing pain on his body. This was the first time he had been reduced to such a pathetic state by a girl barely ten years old.
He felt both powerless and frustrated. Yet, having endured the hellish apocalypse, he had long developed the habit of never surrendering, for surrender meant death, and he, as always, cherished his life!
Another sweep of the whip’s tail tore open a wound on his body, splattering blood onto the corner of his lips, bringing with it a faint metallic tang. Shui Jingxuan extended his pink tongue, gathering the blood droplet.
The coppery sweetness of the blood immediately bloomed on his tongue tip, causing his pupils to contract slightly and a cold glint to flash in his eyes.
‘Since swords are useless against a long whip, I’ll abandon it!’ He sneered, feigning a cleaving strike. Wolf Girl wielded her whip defensively, but unexpectedly, he suddenly released his grip, throwing his long sword at her like a dart.
Wolf Girl had not anticipated such an unexpected move. Unable to defend herself in time, she could only watch as the long sword shot towards her, slicing a half-inch wound across her neck, from which blood slowly seeped.
If her opponent hadn’t held back, that single sword strike would have been enough to take her head! For the first time in her life, she suffered such a defeat, and at the hands of a child two or three years younger than herself.
Wolf Girl’s eyes were bloodshot, having lost all composure. She swung her whip fiercely at her opponent, unleashing ten-tenths of her inner energy.
Shui Jingxuan assumed Wolf Girl would finally concede, but he hadn’t expected her sudden, furious attack. With no time to dodge, he could only raise his arm to protect his head and neck.
The whip, imbued with potent inner energy, coiled around his right hand, and excruciating pain instantly coursed through his entire body.
‘Damn it, she severed my meridians!’ Perceiving the state of his right arm, Shui Jingxuan’s eyes turned blood-red, overflowing with intense killing intent. He concentrated all ten-tenths of his inner energy into his left hand.
He grabbed the long whip, forcefully pulling Wolf Girl before him, then wrapped the whip around her neck and tightened it with immense strength.
Wolf Girl gasped for air, her cheeks instantly turning crimson. All strength seemed to drain from her body, leaving her unable to even struggle.
Contending with a girl barely ten years old had not only resulted in a humiliating victory but also the loss of his right arm.
Shui Jingxuan had never before realized so profoundly that he was no longer the peak expert of his previous life, capable of turning the tides with a flick of his hand.
His bloodshot eyes grew even darker. He scoffed, murmuring, “Heh! Too weak! Truly existence like an ant.” These words held a deep, bitter self-mockery.
Wolf Girl’s eyeballs rolled back, her lips turned blue, and her breathing grew progressively weaker. Her limbs went limp; she was only moments away from suffocating.
“Stop!” A palm strike swept through the air, knocking Shui Jingxuan aside and rescuing the nearly suffocated Wolf Girl. The palm strike employed subtle force, not harming Shui Jingxuan in the slightest; he quickly rose, standing aside and gasping for breath.
Ji Wushuang arrived shortly after, scooping Wolf Girl into his embrace. He hadn’t anticipated the contest would lead to such a dire outcome, almost resulting in one death and one injury. Ji Wushuang was filled with regret, his expression exceedingly grim.
His conjoined twin (female), however, smiled strangely. Wolf Girl’s crushing defeat was an unexpected, yet delightful, surprise to her.
Wolf Girl had been carefully nurtured by them, a standout in martial arts among her peers, having never encountered a worthy opponent.
To be pushed to such an extreme by the boy was truly eye-opening. However, she wondered about the extent of the boy’s injuries. Her gaze darkened as she looked at Shui Jingxuan’s bloody, mangled right arm.
