Chapter 30: The First Encounter and a Brother’s Secret

Wolf Girl disappeared into the forest, intending to clear her mind alone, but Shui Jingxuan unexpectedly followed her.

“Senior Sister, are you angry about me stopping you just now? I had no choice; it was to ensure the success of our expedition.” Shui Jingxuan walked beside her, explaining softly.

Her junior brother had always been rather indifferent towards her. Seeing him act so intimately for the first time, Wolf Girl felt a flicker of joy. She waved a hand dismissively.

“I’m not angry. I merely came out for some fresh air.”

“Is that so? Then I can rest easy.” Shui Jingxuan smiled gently, his grin so infectious that it even made Wolf Girl’s lips curl upward slightly.

Just then, a shrill scream echoed from the distant woods, and a faint scent of blood drifted over on the wind.

“Something’s happening. Let’s go check it out.” Wolf Girl murmured, soaring towards the source of the sound.

Shui Jingxuan concealed the glint in his eyes and followed closely behind her.

If his memory served him correctly, this scream should have come from a pregnant woman. It was precisely by helping this woman give birth that Wolf Girl and Zhuo Yihang met, and subsequently fell in love.

The two arrived at the source of the scream one after another. The scene that greeted them was of an exceptionally handsome man helping a heavily pregnant woman give birth.

His expression was utterly bewildered, clearly indicating that this was his first time encountering such a situation. The pregnant woman’s husband, however, dared not approach.

He merely stood to the side, ceaselessly rubbing his hands together, his face etched with anxiety. He appeared even more helpless than the handsome man.

“Ah! Miss! Please, I beg you, save my wife!” The man, who had been pacing anxiously, suddenly saw the two silently approaching them.

Especially since the one leading was a young woman, he felt no wariness, but rather overwhelming joy. In his eyes, the handsome man was a mere male, surely lacking the experience of this young lady.

Zhuo Yihang, who was currently holding the woman’s shoulders and softly encouraging her, heard the man’s plea. His heart jolted, and he looked towards the newcomers.

A picturesque pair of individuals slowly walked towards him. He was astonished that they had approached so closely without him sensing them in the slightest.

Though young, their martial arts prowess clearly surpassed his own. Zhuo Yihang’s heart grew solemn.

However, upon glimpsing the ethereal, white-clad maiden leading the way, Zhuo Yihang’s taut expression softened, and his heart began to pound.

The maiden’s face was veiled, revealing only a pair of slender, beautiful eyes. Yet, the cool, moon-like gaze within them was still enough to captivate.

Zhuo Yihang’s eyes showed infatuation until the woman’s piercing scream brought him back to his senses. Feeling ashamed, he dared not look at the maiden again.

Seeing the maiden’s composed demeanor and incredibly skilled movements, which clearly indicated medical training, Zhuo Yihang relaxed. He secretly glanced at her, then turned his attention to the red-clad youth who had walked to his side, now scrutinizing him with downcast eyes.

The veiled maiden possessed an imposing aura, her white robes strikingly prominent in the deep night, instantly capturing Zhuo Yihang’s gaze. However, after calming his emotions and looking at the youth, he was suddenly startled.

Even as a fellow male, he felt a certain sense of awe at the youth’s beauty.

The youth’s skin was like jade, lips red as blood, eyebrows reaching his temples, and phoenix eyes held a majestic glint. A tear-shaped cinnabar mole at the corner of his eye (which was actually a drop of blood that little Shui forgot to wipe away) added a touch of demonic allure to his extraordinarily handsome face, making him even more striking than the maiden.

‘These two carry themselves with grace and possess uncommon looks. What exactly is their background?’ Zhuo Yihang felt somewhat awkward under the youth’s scrutinizing gaze. After averting his eyes, he pondered in secret.

However, before he could delve deeper, the woman suddenly let out a tragic scream. After a violent convulsion, she abruptly stopped breathing.

“Cui Liu! What’s wrong, Cui Liu? Wake up!” Seeing his wife lifeless, the man frantically knelt beside her, wailing loudly. His heartbreaking cries startled the birds roosting in the trees and drew distant howls from wolves.

This scene depicted a tragic separation of life and death, utterly heartbreaking. Wolf Girl and Zhuo Yihang stared at him, their eyes filled with sorrow.

“Why are you crying? The child can still be saved. It’s not too late to cry after you’ve saved the child; otherwise, it’ll be two lives lost!” Shui Jingxuan, annoyed by the man’s commotion, frowned. His clear, magnetic voice startled the man, who immediately ceased his wailing.

Wolf Girl’s heart also tensed at his words. Steeling herself, she directly cut open the birth canal and extracted the child. She tore a strip from her pristine white skirt, carefully wrapped the weakly breathing infant, and slowly handed it to the man.

‘This is a child I saved with my own hands!’ Wolf Girl’s heart was filled with mixed emotions, her beautiful eyes overflowing with a gentle radiance that captivated Zhuo Yihang, making his heart pound like thunder.

In that moment, he fell in love with this mysterious maiden, who was at times cool and at times tender.

The fragile infant, cradled in its father’s arms, let out a tiny cry. The man’s eyes welled with tears as he lowered his head, rubbing his cheek against the child’s soft body. His profound paternal love was deeply moving.

Seeing the man’s ragged clothes, sallow complexion, and knowing he had just lost his wife, Zhuo Yihang worried that raising the child alone would be unsustainable.

Having always been chivalrous and eager to help others, he instinctively took out an exquisite round jade pendant and offered it to the child’s father.

“These are troubled times, and life is difficult. Take this jade pendant; you can exchange it for some money to raise your child.”

The man looked hesitant, but thinking of the child in his arms, he gritted his teeth and accepted it, profusely thanking Zhuo Yihang.

Shui Jingxuan, however, looked at the jade pendant in the man’s hand. He knew that Zhuo Yihang’s senior sister, He Luhua, who was also Baiyun, had accepted the jade pendant, thereby offending He Luhua.

In a fit of rage, He Luhua had murdered him and the infant, who was less than a month old.

‘Indeed, a daughter taught by Baiyun. Compared to her father, the still righteous Wolf Girl is more like someone from a righteous sect. Her later drastic change in temperament was also due to this.’

Shui Jingxuan mocked inwardly, then spoke casually,

“Brave sir, this item in your hand does not seem like something a man would wear. It was probably given by a confidante to someone else. Are you not afraid of angering her?” Although he didn’t care about others’ lives, this father and son were truly wronged in their deaths. Could he not spare a few words?

Zhuo Yihang’s heart trembled. After hearing his words, his face flushed crimson, and he instinctively looked at Wolf Girl, feeling uneasy. He quickly waved his hand.

“No, it’s not…”

It was only then that the man realized the jade pendant was indeed an item for women. Connecting it to its origins, he found himself in a dilemma, unable to accept or refuse it, his expression extremely awkward.

Wolf Girl felt a flicker of annoyance, yet she didn’t know why she was vexed. ‘Perhaps it’s the handsome man’s ardent gaze making me uncomfortable,’ she mused, lowering her head, her expression growing cold.

As the man was caught between a rock and a hard place, he saw Shui Jingxuan’s thorough consideration and concern for him, and was deeply moved.

After returning Zhuo Yihang’s jade pendant, he knelt down and kowtowed three times to Shui Jingxuan, then turned to kowtow to Wolf Girl and Zhuo Yihang. When he rose again, the figures of his three benefactors had vanished.

Shui Jingxuan and Wolf Girl sped through the forest together. After covering some distance, Shui Jingxuan asked, “Senior Sister, are you going back?”

Wolf Girl looked disdainfully at the blood-stained hem of her skirt and shook her head. “You go ahead. I want to find a place to clean up.”

“Then I’ll return to report to Master.” Shui Jingxuan smiled, watching Wolf Girl’s graceful figure disappear into the shadowy, secluded forest.

Listening carefully, he confirmed that Zhuo Yihang, who had been following them, also departed with Wolf Girl. The smile on Shui Jingxuan’s lips deepened even further. He knew that what would unfold next was the classic bathing scene from the movie.

In an ancient cave adorned with exquisite erotic murals, Wolf Girl would bathe naked, utterly captivating Zhuo Yihang’s pure, youthful heart. Although the scene was iconic and alluring, Shui Jingxuan had no interest in witnessing it.

He merely needed to confirm that his little butterfly hadn’t disturbed the predetermined plot, and that was enough. It was time to return and report to his Master.

In the Demon Sect’s gloomy secret chamber, Ji Wushuang and his twin sister sat back-to-back, cross-legged on the ground, circulating their internal energy.

Ji Wushuang’s twin sister frowned deeply, her face etched with anxiety. Ji Wushuang gritted his teeth, veins protruding on his forehead, clearly enduring immense pain.

Sweat poured from him as he circulated his internal cultivation technique, desperately trying to erase the frames of his beloved disciple’s image that incessantly flashed in his mind.

Several moments later, when his body was steaming with heat, Ji Wushuang slowly opened his eyes and exhaled a turbid breath.

“Little brother, what have you been thinking about lately? Your mind is so turbulent.” Ji Wushuang’s twin sister asked anxiously after recovering her composure.

“Nothing. I just want to quickly achieve mastery in the demonic arts so I can avenge myself against that fiendish Immortal Ziyang.” Ji Wushuang lowered his gaze, his voice stiff. He could share anything with his twin sister, yet he was unwilling to reveal the fervent, unfamiliar emotions he had just experienced.

“Little brother, you are too impatient. With an unstable mind, your martial arts will not progress. You should temporarily slow down your cultivation. Fortunately, the boy’s talent is extraordinary; he reached the sixth level of the demonic arts in just five years.

Give him some more time, and we probably won’t even need to act personally. He’ll be able to flatten Wudang and kill that fiendish Immortal Ziyang for us.” Ji Wushuang’s twin sister spoke proudly.

Due to their unique physical condition, the siblings were typical recluses, avoiding going out whenever possible. Their initial decision to adopt the exceptionally talented Wolf Girl was also driven by the intention of cultivating a tool for revenge.

However, Ji Wushuang deeply resented this mindset when applied to his beloved disciple. He immediately frowned and said coldly, “If we are to seek revenge, we should naturally do it ourselves. Otherwise, what have we been painstakingly cultivating the demonic arts for all these years?”

“Indeed, you’re right!” Ji Wushuang’s twin sister nodded, bloodlust flashing in her eyes. “Just thinking about personally dispatching Immortal Ziyang makes me tremble with excitement!”

With that, she let out a piercing laugh, as if victory was already within her grasp.

Hanging on to thoughts of his disciple who remained at the outpost, Ji Wushuang cast a faint glance at his frenzied twin sister and said, “Let’s go. Let’s check on the situation outside.” He then rose and walked towards the deliberation hall.

“Where is the Left Protector?”

Seeing dozens of chests filled with treasures—exquisite silks, high-grade leather, rice, grains, gold, and silver—piled high in the open space before the deliberation hall, the ten elders and disciples were jubilant.

Yet, his beloved disciple was nowhere to be seen.

Ji Wushuang’s heart pounded with fear, dreading that something might have befallen his disciple after he left. He urgently demanded in a sharp voice.

“Reporting to the Sect Master, the Right Protector left without permission after his training. The Left Protector was worried and followed to investigate.” Azhuang promptly stepped forward, kneeling to report the truth.

“Oh? So the boy actually knows how to care for Wolf Girl now? Has he perhaps grown up and reached the age of first love?” Ji Wushuang’s twin sister frowned, making a wild guess.

After all, Shui Jingxuan had never paid attention to Wolf Girl before; his actions today were indeed abnormal in the eyes of those familiar with him.

Azhuang’s heart jolted. Considering Wolf Girl’s stunning beauty, he found the Sect Master’s speculation surprisingly plausible.

The seven individuals who had just returned to the sect immediately kowtowed in apology. At the Sect Master’s wave, they scrambled out, rushing to find their leader in a desperate frenzy.
