Join the ServerLin Yu scratched his head and put away the old phone. He lay on the bed, recalling what had happened today, still a bit dazed.
“I never thought something this amazing would happen to me.”
“I wonder how Bai Lanlan is doing now.”
With those cards, Lin Yu was confident he could become an outstanding superhuman, the kind of admired figure he had always dreamed of being.
Only with enough power could he defeat calamities, protect the people he wanted to protect, and do what he wanted to do.

The next day, 7:30.
Outside the window came the patter of rain, perfect for sleeping in. It made Lin Yu, who already loved staying in bed, even less willing to get up.
Bai Tao had already left for school. She usually bought breakfast on the way. Lin Yu only made her breakfast when he had morning work.
His phone alarm kept ringing, as if saying, “If you don’t get up now, your perfect attendance is gone.”
There was also a message from Bai Tao in the chat app: [“Brother, it’s raining today. Remember to bring an umbrella~”]
Lin Yu turned off the alarm, stretched, and climbed out of bed.
Seeing his sister’s message on the phone, Lin Yu smiled with relief. “Buying her that computer wasn’t a waste. She even reminds me to bring an umbrella now.”
After getting dressed, Lin Yu went to the sink, washed his face and brushed his teeth. Then he went to the kitchen, fried an egg, and cooked a bowl of noodles. That was his breakfast.
The TV was playing the morning news.
“K City Morning News reports. At six this morning, we received a citizen report claiming someone had sighted a supernatural creature with a fish head and human body.”
“The SCA quickly dispatched a supernatural creature containment team to the scene and captured it. The public has no need to panic. If you sight any other unknown supernatural creatures, please call the dedicated line X91X91X immediately.”
Lin Yu ate breakfast while watching the report.
“It’s probably a fish-man, right? Those things are dumb. When it rains, they often stumble onto shore by mistake. The SCA must have been dealing with them for a long time. Good thing our DIAB doesn’t have to bother.”
After tidying himself up and confirming everything was normal, Lin Yu took his umbrella and went downstairs.
“The rain is getting heavier.”
Raindrops the size of beans fell like bullets. They drummed against his open umbrella with a series of pops. There weren’t many people on the street. Those with umbrellas strolled through the rain, while those without could only run with their heads covered. A few kids deliberately ran into the rain to play, only to be dragged back by their parents by the ears.
Lin Yu checked the time. It was 7:55. He got into his car, rolled the window half down, let the cold wind blow in, and drove slowly toward the company.
His car bore a logo unique to DIAB. People on the road felt a bit of respect when they saw it.
The peace K City enjoyed now depended entirely on DIAB, SCA, and many civilian superhumans maintaining order.

District 3, DIAB, K City Branch.
At 8:19, Lin Yu arrived at the company on time and clocked in.
“You’re finally here.”
Saikana, the head of the Logistics Department, stood at the entrance with her arms crossed. Her fingers tapped impatiently. She looked at Lin Yu with a serious expression.
“Ahaha, Department Head, is something wrong?”
He wasn’t late, but being seen by a superior clocking in right on the dot was like being seen by a homeroom teacher entering the classroom at the last second before the bell. It still made him nervous.
‘It can’t be that Gu Xiaoxiao got into trouble again, right?’
“Did you see today’s news?”
“The fish-man thing?”
“Yeah. We’re going to be busy today.”
“But aren’t supernatural creatures SCA’s responsibility?”
“That was true before.” Saikana sighed and continued, “After investigation, the SCA found that the fish-men are leaving the ocean and coming ashore in large numbers because a very powerful calamity has appeared in the sea. So DIAB has no choice but to get involved.”
“What do we need to do?”
“Our Logistics Department doesn’t have much combat power. We’ll just assist the SCA in capturing some low-level fish-men.”
“Is there a bonus?”
“Yes. For every one captured, everyone involved in the capture gets 1,000.”
“Not bad.”
“Notify your team to get ready. Someone from the SCA will come find you soon.”
“Understood.”
Lin Yu went to the staff area, where he saw Ye Lai and Shen Yan.
“Good morning, Team Leader~”
“Where’s Gu Xiaoxiao?”
“Not here yet.”
Just then, Gu Xiaoxiao came running over, soaked to the bone. On her face were streaks that might have been rain or tears. Her hair was a mess, and most of her clothes were wet.
“Team Leader, wuwu, I’m so miserable.”
“What happened?”
“Yesterday, the mutant dog appearing in my neighborhood got posted online. I couldn’t get a taxi at all, so I had to walk to work. Halfway there, the wind blew my umbrella away. I ran all the way, but I still missed the final clock-in time. My perfect attendance is gone, wuwu…”
‘That is pretty miserable.’
Lin Yu patted Gu Xiaoxiao’s shoulder in comfort, then turned to face the whole team. “There’s a good chance to make money now. Do you want to try?”
“What chance?”
“Later, we’ll assist the SCA in capturing fish-men…”
Lin Yu repeated what the department head had told him to the team.
“Are we going to catch fish-men too?”
Gu Xiaoxiao asked Lin Yu while drying her hair.
“Yes.”
“How can that be!”
Hearing the confirmation, she looked terrified.
“When do we leave? I’ve wanted to try this for a long time.”
Ye Lai seemed excited.
“Leave the fish-man catching to me!”
Shen Yan flexed his biceps.
“Get ready. You can grab some weapons from the warehouse. The SCA people will come meet us soon.”
“Okay.”
After giving his instructions, Lin Yu returned to his office and started searching through it. His equipment was here.
A silver-white pistol, a black hand axe, two grenades, and a healing injector.
Human weapons had little killing power against calamities, but they were quite effective at suppressing low-level supernatural creatures like fish-men. If he hit a weak point, there was still a chance of killing one.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
When he opened it, Lin Yu saw a young woman with very elegant manners. She wore a sun hat, her skin was as white as jade, and small fangs at the corners of her mouth marked her as a vampire. Her clothes bore a special SCA emblem.
Many SCA positions were held by friendly supernatural creatures. Vampires were one of them. DIAB, by contrast, had almost no supernatural creatures on staff.
Lin Yu had a good impression of vampires because the vampires in the SCA had made outstanding contributions to K City. Many difficult supernatural creatures had been dealt with by them.
“Hello, are you Team Leader Lin? I’m Bai Yu, captain of the SCA Supernatural Creature Containment Team 7.”
The young woman politely extended her hand. Lin Yu shook it.
“Yes. What do you need us to do?”
