Chapter 29: A New Identity

The one who arrived was a transcendent Lin Yu knew well: Magical Girl Tianxing.

Magical Girl Tianxing held “Yin Sui” and stared at Lin Yu with a serious expression.

[This girl learns fast. I taught her once, and she can already create “Yin Sui” on her own.]

Lin Yu raised both hands with a helpless look. The Blood-Drawing Dagger was still in her grip, blade pointed down.

In this world, humans had ID cards to prove identity. Transcendent beings had their own document: the Transcendent Being Certificate.

If one of a person’s parents was a legal transcendent being, the certificate could be processed easily after birth.

Otherwise, the person had to go to the SCA for inspection and testing. Only after passing could they obtain the certificate and become a legal transcendent being with identity records.

Lin Yu was clearly a wild transcendent being now. She had no certificate, and no one could vouch for her.

“Throw the knife away!”

Magical Girl Tianxing advanced toward her step by step, wary.

“…”

Lin Yu cooperated and threw away the Blood-Drawing Dagger.

****

No. 2 City District, SCA, K City Branch.

“Name?”

“Bai Yu.”

“Age?”

“Twenty-two.”

“Gender?”

“Male.”

“Huh?”

The registrar looked up, pushed up his glasses, and studied the girl in front of him with confusion.

“Oh, no, female. I misspoke.”

Because she had no ID and could not provide an address, workplace, or other valid information, Lin Yu had been escorted to the SCA by Magical Girl Tianxing.

“Where did you live before?”

The registrar was a vampire girl. She chewed on the end of her pen and tapped her notebook from time to time.

“Uh… the wild. Is that okay?”

“The wild?” The girl frowned. Lin Yu’s answer sounded like an answer and also like nothing at all. “But you’re wearing human men’s clothes. And also… do you want to change pants?”

“If I can, that would be great!”

Lin Yu gave a bitter smile. Fortunately, when she had gone out today for Bai Tao’s parent meeting, she had changed into a relatively tight new outfit and new pants. If she had worn her previous set, it probably would have fallen off during the fight.

Led by the girl, Lin Yu entered the SCA changing room. There she picked out a black-and-red gothic backless dress that fit vampire aesthetics well enough.

Even though it was her own body, Lin Yu still closed her eyes shyly. With her back to the mirror, she yanked off her clothes and pants in a few quick movements, then pulled on the dress. The fabric slid down her body, softer than she had imagined.

Looking at herself in the mirror, beautiful to a cheating degree, Lin Yu could not help reaching out to touch the face in the glass, as if to confirm that she really existed.

[So beautiful… This… is me?]

Knock, knock, knock. The registrar outside asked, “Are you ready?”

Lin Yu pushed the door open and stepped out. The registrar froze for a moment. She had not expected Lin Yu to look this beautiful after changing clothes.

“Next… a professional doctor will give you a full examination.”

“Okay.”

“Follow me.”

Lin Yu was brought to the SCA medical department. Following the doctor’s instructions, she lay down inside a machine. A green light screen swept over her body, and data appeared on the screen.

“Let me see…” The doctor read the data aloud. “All physiological indicators are very stable. Body functions are intact. No pathological damage to tissues or organs. Vitality remains at a healthy and full level.”

“Uh… in plain words?”

Lin Yu looked at the registrar beside her, confused.

“It means you’re healthy.”

The registrar smiled.

“…That’s good.”

[Looks like I’m being processed as an ordinary transcendent being. The vampire transformation card won’t be exposed. I just need to follow the normal process, register, and get the Transcendent Being Certificate.]

“Next, you need to fill out a form.”

Lin Yu was taken to an office. The registrar took out a form, sat across from Lin Yu, and handed her a pen.

****

Form (Vampire Special)

C: Call the police.

D: Capture them, keep them at home as a living blood-drinking machine, and bite them every day.

Question 3: “What do you do when you encounter a Calamity?”

…

****

[Uh…]

Clearly, this form was no challenge for Lin Yu. She finished it quickly.

“Good, good. Full marks!”

The registrar looked pleased.

“Is full marks hard?”

“For a wild vampire, it’s pretty hard.” The registrar smiled and took out a card recording “Bai Yu’s” information. “Take it. This is your Transcendent Being Certificate.”

“Thank you.”

“Are you interested in joining the SCA?”

“Uh… forget it.”

“Alright. Then I wish you luck finding a good job. You can leave… Oh, right. Your things are in the box by the entrance.”

After leaving the SCA, Lin Yu still found it hard to believe.

[They let me go that easily?]

Or had Magical Girl Tianxing not mentioned her fight with the tentacle in the classroom?

Lin Yu did not know. But her phone had many missed calls. Most were from her sister, and a few were from Magical Girl Tianxing.

[Bai Tao must have been worried sick.]

Lin Yu returned home, changed back into her own clothes, released the transformation, and called Bai Tao back.

“Brother? How are you? I couldn’t find you earlier.”

“I’m fine. I saw Magical Girl Tianxing arrive, so I left.”

“Oh, oh. As long as you’re okay!”

Bai Tao seemed to relax on the other end.

“Do you still need me to come to the parent meeting?”

“No. The teacher already left. I’m eating in the cafeteria now.”

“Oh, oh.”

“Today’s banana stir-fried chili is really awful.”

“What?”

After hanging up, Lin Yu called Magical Girl Tianxing.

“Lin Yu… why did you only pick up now? Hurry over and help clean up the scene.”

The voice on the phone sounded tired, as if she were doing something physically demanding.

“Oh, oh. I’m coming right away.”

Lin Yu gave a bitter smile. The afternoon had arrived, and now it was his work time.

“So unlucky. My umbrella is still at school.”

“…”

However, the culprit behind the classroom attack had not died.

This monster with two tentacles was the B-rank Calamity that had escaped before. It was a flesh aberration that many transcendent beings had hunted and heavily wounded.

It still wandered the deep sewers. This time, it had locked onto a clearer target: the person who had cut it with a dagger.
