“I’ll be sending meals over every day for the next few days. Could you help me deliver them to him? Just tell him that you made an extra portion while cooking for your sister.”
Qu Qian was somewhat surprised. “If it’s a misunderstanding, wouldn’t it be better to just clear it up?”
Ji Xiao’s tone held a hint of helplessness. “He’s still ill right now, so it’s not the right time to talk things through. Once he’s discharged, I’ll explain everything to him properly.”
“So, would you mind helping me out these next few days? He probably doesn’t want to see me much lately.”
Qu Qian wasn’t one to pry. She nodded. “No problem at all. It’s just a small favor.”
“Thank you,” Ji Xiao said, stopping in his tracks. “Then I won’t go over. Let’s exchange contact information, and I’ll let you know in advance when I bring the meals.”
“Alright.”
“I’ll arrange a temporary nurse for him. If you have time, you could go keep Mo Lin company and chat with him. He seems to like you quite a bit.”
“Oh…”
After they exchanged contact information, Qu Qian watched his retreating figure, and then a realization dawned on her.
‘Wait a minute,’ she thought. ‘If he’s hiring a nurse, wouldn’t it be simpler to just give the meals to the nurse? Why does he need to send them under my name?’

Ji Xiao hired a professional nurse for a week. After giving her the room number, he headed straight home.
Black Cat’s voice echoed in his mind. [Are you perhaps trying to set up Mo Lin and the female lead?]
Ji Xiao merely replied, “…”
Black Cat grew more convinced the more it thought about it.
[This isn’t right! The mission is for you not to break up with Zhou Jinzhu and not to let Mo Lin leave. You…]
Ji Xiao parked his car, opting to skip the elevator. He lit a cigarette and slowly walked up the stairs.
“That’s enough, you silly cat. Just wait for the results; don’t concern yourself with how I achieve them.”
Silly Cat felt wronged.
It rolled around a few times in the mental world before gradually calming down.
‘Fine, I won’t interfere,’ it decided. ‘Anyway, if the mission isn’t completed, I’m not the only one who loses out!’
‘Oh, right, I haven’t told the host about the mission settlement from the last world yet…’
‘Never mind. I won’t say anything. They’ll just complain I talk too much, humph!’

Qin Ce was the one who opened the door for Ji Xiao.
Ji Xiao had barely raised an eyebrow when Qin Ce, yawning, walked towards his room. “Xiao Lin is playing with Xiao Bai, and Uncle is in his room.”
Ji Xiao walked to Zhou Jinzhu’s bedroom door and gently turned the handle.
It wasn’t locked.
“I’m not planning to start a new book for now. I’ll rest for a month or two, find some inspiration. Don’t rush me, I just finished one,” Zhou Jinzhu said, turning his head at the sound of the door. He curved his eyes into a smile when he saw Ji Xiao.
“Alright, alright, I know. I can’t talk anymore, I have something to do. Gotta hang up now.”
Hanging up the phone, he stood up. “How’s Mo Lin?”
“He’s doing well,” Ji Xiao said, walking towards him. “Is your editor rushing you to start a new book?”
“Yeah, they say others start brainstorming their next book as soon as they’re about to finish the current one, but I’ve been done for a while and haven’t started,” Zhou Jinzhu scoffed softly.
“I plan to rest for a month or two before preparing for a new book.”
Ji Xiao walked over and embraced him, murmuring, “A honeymoon, perhaps?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. The two little ones still have school. If we want to go somewhere, we’ll wait until the winter break.”
Zhou Jinzhu tilted his head slightly, allowing Ji Xiao to lean against his shoulder.
Ji Xiao let out a deep sigh. “Those two troublesome little things.”
Zhou Jinzhu reached out and held him, his smiling eyes slowly opening.
“Xiao Ge, what’s wrong?”
Ji Xiao didn’t speak. He took two steps forward, pressing Zhou Jinzhu onto the bed. He kissed his lips, taking his breath away.
Zhou Jinzhu kept his eyes open, but he could only see Ji Xiao’s closed eyelids. He felt that something was amiss, but he quickly closed his own eyes, cooperating with Ji Xiao’s actions.
Ji Xiao slowed his pace, his movements tender and deeply affectionate.
Yet, in his heart, he marveled at Zhou Jinzhu’s perceptiveness. He had merely let a sliver of emotion show, and Zhou Jinzhu had already sensed it.
