Chapter 6: The Unseen Eye

The door opened.

Pei Yu, his face as cold as frost, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Tang Shen, whose dark, wheat-colored skin and fierce countenance were intimidating, just outside the door.

Ji Xiao, still clad in a bathrobe, maintained a composed and self-assured demeanor on his stern face, showing not the slightest discomfort.

Cheng Tian, however, blanched with fright, his guilt palpable. “Shen, Brother Shen…”

Tang Shen entered the room, his face dark with fury, and clenched his fist, ready to strike Ji Xiao.

“Stop—”

Both Pei Yu and Cheng Tian cried out, attempting to halt him.

But Tang Shen’s fist did not waver.

However, Ji Xiao evaded the blow.

Cheng Tian quickly rushed forward, grabbing Tang Shen’s arm and pulling him aside.

For a moment, it was unclear whether to be more surprised by Pei Yu’s arrival or by Tang Shen accompanying him.

Seeing Cheng Tian pull Tang Shen away, Pei Yu raised his eyes to Ji Xiao. “Do you have an explanation?”

Ji Xiao met his gaze, unhurried. “An explanation for what?”

Pei Yu looked towards Cheng Tian, who was exerting all his strength to restrain the agitated Tang Shen.

Ji Xiao smiled. “Are you jealous?”

Pei Yu’s voice was cold. “Xiao Chi, don’t act so flippant. You and him…”

“We didn’t do anything.”

“…”

Noticing Pei Yu’s silence, Cheng Tian quickly turned and declared, “Really! Mr. Xiao and I didn’t do anything. I just gave him a massage!”

“A massage?”

Before Pei Yu could respond, Tang Shen roared, “Are you a masseur? If a CEO like him truly wanted a massage, couldn’t he find any masseur he wished? Why would he seek out a small singer like you?”

Cheng Tian weakly replied, “I learned how to massage specifically to help my grandma before.”

Tang Shen glared at him.

Cheng Tian obediently shut his mouth.

Ji Xiao sighed softly. “Cheng Tian, take your people and leave first.”

“Leave?”

Tang Shen’s gaze was fierce as he stared at Ji Xiao.

Cheng Tian quickly clutched his chest, gasping urgently, “Ah, my heart hurts so much… Am I… am I having a heart attack relapse?”

Tang Shen: “…”

“Brother Shen, I, I hurt so much, boo-hoo-hoo.”

“…”

Tang Shen gritted his teeth, then scooped Cheng Tian into his arms and walked out.

One of Cheng Tian’s hands clung to Tang Shen’s neck, while the other didn’t forget to close the room door behind them.

Pei Yu stepped forward and pulled off Ji Xiao’s bathrobe.

Ji Xiao, amused, wrapped his arms around Pei Yu’s waist and whispered, “You really don’t trust me that much?”

Pei Yu said, “Let go.”

Ji Xiao released his hold.

Pei Yu circled him once, ensuring there were no suspicious marks on his body.

He then walked to the bed, lifted the duvet, and glanced at the clean trash can.

Ji Xiao watched him open the bedside drawer to search, even bending over to peer under the bed, a twitch in his lips.

He stepped forward, scooped Pei Yu up, and tossed him onto the bed, then pressed down on him.

“Alright, stop looking. I didn’t do anything with him.”

Pei Yu’s face was taut as he reached out and pushed him.

Ji Xiao sighed softly, helplessly. “I genuinely just asked him to come over and give me a massage.”

Pei Yu scoffed. “Heh.”

Just as Tang Shen had said.

If he truly wanted a massage, what kind of technician couldn’t he find? Why would he seek out a small artist?

Ji Xiao lowered his head and brushed his lips against Pei Yu’s. “What will it take for you to believe me?”

Pei Yu, seeing he couldn’t break free, said angrily, “Let me be on top!”

Ji Xiao: “…”

The black cat: “Pfft—”

Ji Xiao withdrew his hands, rolled over, and lay beside him. “Come on then.”

Pei Yu was stunned.

Before they were married, Xiao Chi had claimed to be a pure ‘top’.

His suggestion just now had merely been spoken in a fit of pique; he hadn’t expected Ji Xiao to actually agree.

Ji Xiao tilted his head slightly. “Not coming?”

Come on then!

Pei Yu pressed down, fiercely biting his lips.

The black cat, with a sense of propriety, retreated to a deeper corner to watch cartoons.

After watching two full animated movies, it cautiously poked its head out.

Good, it was over.

Its host was gently coaxing the sulking ‘bottom’.

Ji Xiao’s tender affection did not move Pei Yu; instead, he was hit with a pillow.

“You went back on your word!”

Ji Xiao caught the pillow, not at all angered. “Wasn’t I just demonstrating, seeing as you were struggling with the method?”

Pei Yu snapped, “Get lost!”

Ji Xiao took out his phone and downloaded an app. “Here, watch this, and you’ll know the truth.”

Pei Yu: “?”

He couldn’t help but sit up, watching Ji Xiao log into an account.

The moment the screen opened, he fumed, “Xiao Chi! You’re shameless!”

This man had actually installed surveillance in the hotel room!

Ji Xiao handed the phone to him, speaking calmly. “Don’t worry, I kept us covered with the blanket the whole time just now, so you can’t see us.”

Pei Yu: “…”

“This is a hotel under my name, and this room is exclusively mine. Since you suspect me, just watch for yourself.”

Ji Xiao patted his head and walked into the bathroom.

Pei Yu hesitated for a while, but eventually clicked on the video playback. After adjusting the timeline several times, he finally saw Ji Xiao and Cheng Tian.

After watching, he was at a loss for words.

They had truly only been getting a massage?

The sound had been off.

He turned on the sound and watched it again.

Ji Xiao emerged wrapped in a bath towel, noticing Pei Yu’s expression hadn’t improved, and raised an eyebrow. “You didn’t watch?”

“I watched.”

“Then what are you still angry about? Shouldn’t I be the one who’s angry, having been doubted by you?”

Pei Yu looked up. “If I hadn’t called…”

“Pei Yu,”

Ji Xiao walked in front of him, bending slightly to look directly into his eyes,

“If I had truly wanted to do something with him, after hanging up your and Ye Sheng’s calls, wouldn’t I have had the time?”

Pei Yu: “…”

He still found it hard to believe.

What was wrong with Xiao Chi?

To get a massage, he had to find his own artist?

“You praised him for being sweet…”

“Isn’t he sweet?”

“…”

“I mean, he looks like a child, and he smiles like one too.”

Pei Yu let out a soft snort.

Ji Xiao leaned in and kissed the corner of his lips. “From now on, just ask me directly if you have anything, don’t condemn me without even asking, mm?”

Pei Yu subconsciously licked his lips. “Why did you suddenly promote Ye Sheng?”

Ji Xiao took the phone, scrolled to the night Ye Sheng was there, and handed it back to him.

Pei Yu: “…”

After watching, he looked at Ji Xiao with a complex expression.

Ji Xiao: “?”

Pei Yu deliberated. “Your hobby is… rather unique?”

Ji Xiao rose, lit a cigarette, and said faintly, “I had some insomnia during that time. The formulas Ye Sheng recited helped me sleep quite well.”

Pei Yu immediately thought of how Ji Xiao had abandoned his partner after their wedding and left for several months.

He felt a little guilty.

“A-Xiao…”

Ji Xiao said, “I generally don’t stay out. If I do, it’s here. If you’re ever uneasy in the future, just check the surveillance.”

Pei Yu was somewhat speechless. “Speaking of which, why did you install surveillance here?”

“It’s a habit. Actually, we have it at home too…”

“Xiao Chi!”

“However, I didn’t install it in the bedrooms and bathrooms at home.”

Pei Yu took a deep breath. “A-Xiao, you…”

Ji Xiao extinguished his cigarette, turned, and pulled Pei Yu into his embrace, whispering, “I’m sorry, darling, I did these things without asking for your consent beforehand.”

In truth, this was the original owner’s secret pleasure.

Claiming there was no surveillance in the bedrooms and bathrooms at home was a lie.

It was simply that Ji Xiao had destroyed them after he arrived.

Pei Yu detected the unusual emotion in his voice and hugged him back comfortingly. “It’s okay, I’m not angry.”

Ji Xiao picked him up. “I’ll take you to get clean.”

“Mm.” The topic shifted so quickly, it was hard to keep up.

As Ji Xiao helped him wash, he quietly explained, “When I was eight, I went to an amusement park with my parents. Because I was too playful, I got separated from them and was kidnapped.”

“The area where I ran off to play happened to have no surveillance, and the amusement park’s cameras weren’t comprehensive. So, my parents took a very long time to find me.”

“I suffered quite a bit.”

“After I returned home, they installed surveillance everywhere in the house, except for my parents’ room.”

“Every time I go out, I subconsciously look for places with surveillance. I don’t dare to go where there aren’t any.”

The black cat listened to its host’s tall tale, utterly dumbfounded.

Fabrication!

Absolutely pure fabrication!

Xiao Chi had indeed been kidnapped as a child, but his parents found him within two days.

The kidnappers, seeing his expensive clothes, simply wanted to extort money and hadn’t treated him harshly at all.

There was absolutely no truth to the claim of ‘must go where there’s surveillance’!

The black cat was complaining silently as it listened.

Pei Yu, however, couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.

Yet, as Ji Xiao spoke, he didn’t forget to gently clean Pei Yu’s body.

“Darling, if you don’t like it, I’ll destroy all the surveillance when we get home, okay?”

Pei Yu shook his head. “No, don’t destroy them. Keep them.”

Ji Xiao lowered his head and kissed him lightly, then helped him get dressed.

“Alright, won’t destroy them.”

The black cat couldn’t help but applaud. “Host, you’re amazing! The ‘bottom’ not only isn’t thinking of divorcing you, but they’re incredibly sympathetic towards you!”

Ji Xiao: [Otherwise? Listen to you, and when he’s suspicious, I should cry, make a scene, and threaten to jump off a building?]

The black cat: “…”
